GEORGIA -- On Tuesday this week Harris County investigators came into contact with several individuals suspected to be involved with the distribution of narcotics at a location on Ga Hwy 315 in Fortson Ga.
Two of the individuals fled the scene at a high speed in a black Ford truck that ran several people off the road as they made their escape.
Later as investigators followed up on the incident, officers came into contact with several vicious Pit Bull dogs. One of the animals was tied near a location where investigators discovered an amount of crack cocaine hidden and a felony amount of marijuana.
The animal did not have food or water near him and attempted to attack the officers any time they got near the animal. Several other Pit Bull dogs were running loose on the property and did not have collars or tags.
Several of these vicious dogs attacked one of the Deputies that arrived on the scene as back up. The animals rushed the Deputy biting and growling as the Deputy was headed to his patrol vehicle. The Deputy fired shots and one of the dogs was killed to fend off the attack. The other dogs fled and remain on the scene.
Animal control was called to the scene and animal control officer Bit Geter advised investigators that he has been to this location in the past because a meter reader reported that the dogs attacked him.
After obtaining consent to search investigators located several marijuana plants growing in pots, along with scales and bags. Investigators believe the evidence shows that this location is a distribution hotspot for illegal drugs such as crack cocaine and marijuana.
Investigators say that it is common for drug dealers to use Pit Bulls to guard their product. These dogs are also commonly used by lawbreakers in the illegal practice of dog fighting.
Two people have been arrested so far in connection with this incident, they are Kelvin Walker, age 41, from Fortson and Christopher Dorsey, age 20, also from Fortson.
