TEXAS -- A man accused of shooting four cats back in October of 2011 is now facing animal cruelty charges.
Nathaniel Paul Stewart, 28, is accused of shooting the cats from his balcony at his Missouri City apartment complex with a high-powered pellet gun. One of the cats was killed instantly, and two others were paralyzed and had to be put down.
The shootings were reported last year, but police just recently completed their investigation, and Stewart was indicted on July 26, 2012.
Investigators said he turned himself in on Wednesday and was being held without bond.
Police said he was not given bond because of his alleged involvement in an assault that occurred while he was already out on bond for a weapons charge.
