OHIO -- A Coshocton woman died Saturday from her injuries sustained from a Tuesday afternoon dog attack.
A Grant Medical Center spokesperson confirmed Rachael Honabarger, 35, of 41900 County Road 23, was listed as a deceased patient.
Honabarger remained in critical and serious condition throughout the week since she was taken to the Columbus hospital after a dog attack.
According to Coshocton County Dog Warden Russell Dreher, Honabarger was attacked about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at her residence by a family pet. The 3-year-old, 100-pound German Shepherd has been quarantined at a local veterinarian pending the completion of Dreher’s investigation.
Dreher said he is unsure what will happen to the dog at this time.
According to the 911 call, Honabarger suffered wounds to her neck. Dreher said a neighbor was driving by and saw Honabarger in distress. He pulled the dog from her and secured it in a kennel. The neighbor then performed life-saving first aid until emergency personnel arrived on scene.
Honabarger was transported to Coshocton Hospital by Coshocton County EMS before being transferred via MedFlight to Grant.
Family members were not available for comment Saturday evening.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
