ALABAMA -- More than two dozen law enforcement, animal control officers and animal rescue groups received an overview of animal cruelty issues during a seminar this morning.
“Animal cruelty is something that we take very seriously,” Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly said.
Connolly’s office sponsored the seminar, which was conducted by Mindy Gilbert, Alabama director of the Humane Society of the United States.
The four-hour event covered a variety of animal cruelty issues such as laws, investigations and animal fighting investigations.
“This is a chance for these individuals, who deal with this on a daily basis, to get more training to help them do their jobs,” Connolly said.
