IOWA -- Waterloo Police shot and killed a pit bull that was reportedly attacking another dog.
It happened just before 6:45pm Wednesday night in the 600 block of Dawson Street. An officer was flagged down by a resident who said two pit bulls were attacking a third pit bull.
Officers found the dogs under a porch and called Animal Control. A short time later, police say all three dogs emerged and a white dog was bleeding from the neck and legs.
When a grey dog went after the white dog again, police say it tore the dogs throat while a brown dog took an aggressive stance towards a gathering crowd.
Police say they were forced to shoot and kill the grey dog with a rifle in order to protect the injured dog and the crowd. Animal Control arrived and took control of all three animals.
