LOUISIANA -- A pit bull was shot to death by a Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Deputy.
The shooting happened Thursday in Jennings while a deputy was responding to a complaint from neighbors about four-wheelers being driven in the area.
The dog owner's, Jacob Authement, said as he ran to get his dog, the deputy already had his gun drawn. He claims the deputy backed farther away behind his car and shot the pit bull, named CoCo, killing the dog.
Jeff Davis Sheriff, Ivy Woods tells KLFY, the pit bull was charging so the deputy had to shoot the dog. He says the deputy, a K-9 officer, asked the owner multiple times to get control of the pit bull.
Authement says the dog, one of seven pit bulls he owns, barked but was not a threat.
