UNITED KINGDOM -- A man is accused of raping six women after killing a hamster and kitten, attempting to flush a cat down a toilet and hitting a dog, a jury at the High Court in Perth heard yesterday.
Allan Johnstone, 50, is charged with dozens of offences including multiple rapes, serious sexual attacks and animal cruelty over a period of 20 years.
It is also alleged he tortured one of his victims by abducting her and locking her in a porch for days while making her lap water and milk from a bowl.
He is also accused of raping and sexually assaulting the same woman on a number of occasions between 1984 and 1988.
In 2001, he is alleged to have attacked and repeatedly raped another woman at knifepoint.
He is also alleged to have abducted another woman and raped her after forcing her to lick ash off the floor.
Amongst a total of 40 charges, he is also accused of raping a married woman while she was asleep or unconscious in Dundee in 2004.
He is then said to have offered her a £1,500 bribe to withdraw her allegation of rape against him.
The jury heard that Johnstone breached the peace at three addresses in Forfar, Angus, by causing unnecessary suffering to animals between 1983 and 1988.
The court was told how he punched and kicked a dog to its injury; threw a kitten against a wall, leaving it so severely injured it died; attempted to flush a cat down a lavatory; seized a dog and swung it by its ears, causing it to strike a television to its injury; and killed a hamster.
Johnstone denies all the charges.
The trial continues.
