Two dogs found bound and skinned in Newaygo County

MICHIGAN -- Residents near White Cloud made a gruesome discovery Thursday in the woods and they're hoping someone will come forward with information.

"I must have been moments away from someone who dumped them," McIntire said. "There's no ears, they Mary McIntire and found two dead dogs skinned, and hanging from a tree along a two-track road in rural Newaygo County.

McIntire and her neighbors see all kinds of animals on their rides through the woods.took them completely off--kind of reminds me of Jeffrey Dahmer...you know? It's how serial killers start."

"But, not anything that's tied up and purposely done. It's disturbing."

The two large dogs were dumped about five feet off the dirt road. Both had been skinned and still had rope around their feet.

"The rope and feet are what got me the worst, because someone had to hang them to skin them," said Ashley Shaner, who also spotted the animals in the woods. "Stripped all the way down through the nose even."

She took several pictures and called police, but no one showed up. The next day, her husband called again. This time, an officer responded to the scene.

"He came out, looked, but didn't write anything down," she said.

"They are now waiting to see if Michigan State Police investigates the cases. They're also monitoring social media to see if anyone is missing their dogs

UPDATE: The DNR Wildlife division has been notified and will be investing into the incident according to the residents who found the dogs.

The DNR says they can not tell according to the photos they were sent if the dogs were domestic or coyotes.

We will update with more information once it becomes available to us.
