NEW YORK -- The Albany Police Department arrested a woman on Monday in connection to an animal cruelty case that happened early Friday.
Officers responded to 1029 Clark Ave. at approximately 5:17 a.m. on Friday regarding a domestic dispute during which a two-month old Brindle pit bull was stabbed in the hip area with a kitchen knife by the suspect, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD.
Warrants for cruelty to an animal were issued against 34-year old Katrina Wilson. The dog was taken into protective custody, seen by a veterinarian due to the puppy having to get stitches for the puncture wound. The dog was taken to the Albany Humane Society, Banks said.
Wilson was picked up just after 10 a.m. on Monday from her Clark Avenue home and booked at the Dougherty County Jail soon after. Her charges were upgraded from misdemeanor to felony cruelty to an animal, Banks said.
