Their owners are charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty. But that didn't stop Delaware County Judge Alicia Littlefield from ordering the dogs go back to their
A state licensed veterinarian treated all of the animals on site and determined three were in such severe pain and poor condition that they needed to be euthanized - including one with the large mammary tumor. Within the following several days eight more had to be euthanized because they were too ill to receive medical treatment for a complex variety of medical issues including severe heartworm positive test results.
From the sound of it, you'd think White's dogs always looked as healthy as they do now, but the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals would disagree.
Dana Gray's organization spent more than $30,000 in the last three months treating and rehabilitating the dogs, never expecting they'd go back to the White family.
"The animals were in poor conditions," said Gray. "We are devastated. We are heartbroken."
Gray says one of the dogs had a huge mammary tumor when OAA rescued the animals. Several dogs had mange and three were in such bad condition they had to be euthanized on the spot.
"We don't understand why this has been ruled," said Gray.
The organization has launched an online petition to have the judge's decision overturned.
White would not comment on the pending criminal case when asked after the animal cruelty charges.
"I'm not answering any of that," said White. "All I can say is praise God we got our animals back. Hallelujah."
We asked White: "There are a lot of folks worried the dogs might end up in bad shape, what do you say to that?"
"Well our dogs won't, they get looked after," said White.
As for those who cared for the dogs...
"The hope is there but the track record is not good so that leaves a lot of doubt," said Dr. Mike Jones, veterinarian at Woodland West Animal Hospital.

On October 27, 2016, Delaware County Judge Alicia Littlefield ordered the return of dozens of animal victims to their alleged abusers.
The decision was made behind closed doors in the presence of the Delaware County District Attorney Kenny Wright along with the defense attorney for defendants Chris and Claire White, Winston Connor II.
The Whites each still face 10 state felony counts of animal cruelty.

The Oklahoma forfeiture statute lists three requirements before a defendant can request the return of animals:
- a bond hearing within 10 days of the arrest,
- the defendants to post bond within 72 hours of the hearing in a set amount to cover the boarding and medical care of the animals for 180 days, and
- for the defendants to be found "not guilty" in a court of law.
