Kathryn Johnson needed plastic surgery to her legs and face and faces up to nine months without full feeling in her leg after she was attacked on Challis Road in Armadale.
“The dog’s come out of nowhere and just mauled me,” Ms Johnson said.
“It kept on going and going at my legs.
“I was thinking, ‘Oh my goodness, this is real and it may kill me’.”
The 40-year-old was pulled onto the road by the dog during the attack around 2.30pm last Wednesday afternoon.
Ms Johnson went into shock before neighbors heard her screams for help and pulled the dog off her. She spent five days at Royal Perth Hospital where she underwent surgery and required dozens of stitches.
Now the mother-of-four says she fears the outcome could have been much worse had it been a child attacked.
“If it was a child, especially being so close to the school at school time, the child wouldn’t have survived,” she said.
“There’s no way that a dog like that should be allowed to roam outside any street anywhere.”
According to 7 News, the same mixed breed pit bull dog was allegedly involved in a separate attack a week earlier.
The dog has been seized by the City of Armadale.
The dog’s apparent owner didn’t want to go on camera but told Seven News she is terribly sorry about what happened.
The woman could face a fine of up to $10,000 under the Dog Act.
