At 3:45 p.m. Monday, Crest Hill police responded to the 2400 block of Red Oak Trail where the woman was attacked by a tan-colored pit bull, said Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark. Clark said she suffered a bite injury to her arm.
The woman was sent to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center for treatment.
The police are seeking the dog’s owner and working with Will County Animal Control. Clark said police believe the pit bull is a neighbor’s dog.
“We’re following up. We’re going to track down the owner and make sure the dog is handled appropriately,” Clark said.
While Clark confirmed the victim was a former alderwoman, he declined to identify her by name.
