Nevada: "My niece was attacked today by her neighbor’s pit bull"

NEVADA -- Lorraine Grindstaff posted on Facebook October 16, 2017 ·

My niece was attacked today by her neighbor’s pit bull.

This bite goes to the bone. My niece is an animal lover and very gentle. This was a completely unprovoked attack. I was unable to save the life of my neighbor’s small poodle that was viciously attacked by a pit bull that lived around the corner.

While any dog can bite, and while there are those who argue that pit bulls are no more aggressive or dangerous than any other breed, that is patently false. Pit bulls as a breed are far more deadly than Bernese Mountain Dogs and many (most?) other breeds.

Anyone who leaves a pit bull unsupervised with any child is irresponsible, and it is criminal if any child is harmed or killed by an unsupervised pit bull. My niece’s neighbor violated criminal laws by having an unsupervised dog and a dog that bit a human, and the neighbor is also liable under civil law.
