ALABAMA -- A Madison couple is charged with 47 counts of animal cruelty following a major discovery at their home on Crestview Drive last week.
Police have charged James Lin, 73 and Patricia Lin, 71. The charges are misdemeanors.
On Thursday, June 14, someone reported a foul odor coming from 815 Crestview Drive, which is off Madison Pike. Madison Police say they found 45 dogs inside the home alive, in filthy conditions. An additional 40 dogs were dead.
Several agencies assisted, including the Madison Animal Rescue Foundation (MARF) and Huntsville Animal Services.
Miki Bennett, Director of MARF, said of the 45 dogs that were taken from the home, some had to be euthanized. The dogs are dachshund and dachshund-bichon mixes. Many will be adopted out in the near future.
