OREGON -- A man was arrested for shooting his neighbor’s dog with an arrow near Canby Tuesday, police said.
Dennis Neal Lambeth allegedly shot a miniature Australian shepherd named Porter near South Barnards Road.
The dog was found Tuesday with the arrow stuck between its shoulders, according to Sgt. Brian Jensen of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Lambeth was arrested and charged with second-degree animal abuse.
Sgt. Jensen said he was not sure why Lambeth shot the dog.
“I think it’s horrific,” Sgt. Jensen said. “It’s heartbreaking. We’re talking about man’s best friend here.”
The dog’s injuries are not life-threatening and it is back at home with its owners.
