NEW YORK -- A Marion woman is facing animal cruelty charges after deputies say she abandoned her dog.
Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies were following an investigation into a woman who allegedly abandoned her dog. Deputies say 39-year-old Stephanie Goodbody-Lopez left her two-year-old pit bull, Molly, inside her home.
When deputies arrived they say the pit bull was infested with fleas and sores covering the majority of her body.
Molly was treated for skin and ear infections and will be turned over to the Wayne County Humane Society for shelter. Goodbody-Lopez was charged with animal cruelty and released on an appearance ticket.
