Maryland: 16-year-old girl lied and pretended to be owner of lost dog then flipped it on Craigslist

MARYLAND -- A 16-year-old girl was charged after pretending to be the owner of a lost dog and selling the pup on Craigslist, according to Baltimore County Police.

Bella, a 10-year-old female Yorkshire Terrier, went missing from her White Marsh home Wednesday morning. A Good Samaritan found her and placed an ad on Craigslist in search of her owner.

The teen responded to the ad and falsely claimed to be Bella’s owner.

“Thinking that the girl was the owner, the Good Samaritan gave Bella to the girl but the girl was not the owner,” police said.

The girl then took the dog and sold it on Craigslist. She was charged as a juvenile.

Bella is still missing and police are asking for the public’s help in getting her back home safely.

Bella has moles or skin tags on her hind legs.

Anyone with information is asked to call the White Marsh Precinct at 410-887-5000.
