Florida: Canadian man, Pierre Boucher, 68, arrested after leaving his dog inside vehicle

FLORIDA -- A Canadian man is accused of leaving a dog in the backseat of a black sedan Sunday afternoon while he and his wife were at Juno Beach Park, town police said.

Pierre Boucher, 68, of Ontario left the dog panting in the unventilated sedan for at least an hour, police said.

The dog’s nose was warm and wet to the touch, an officer said. Officers found the dog in the back seat of the sedan at about 4:20 p.m., a report states. It didn’t have water and the window was only cracked about an inch.

Shortly before 5 p.m. officers put the dog in the back of an air-conditioned patrol car.

At 5:10 p.m. Boucher returned from the beach with a small cooler of soft drinks. It was more than 80 degrees outside, the officer noted.

Boucher was arrested on a charge of animal confinement without food and water. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on a $500 bond, records show.
