Michigan: Little dog named Bella suffers broken jaw, broken ribs and ripped trachea after pit bull invades its yard and tries to kill it

MICHIGAN -- A Flat Rock family's pet dog suffered severe injuries when it was attacked by a pit bull.

They say the pit bull came into their yard and attacked Bella, their dog, on Sunday, grabbing her by the neck and shaking her from side to side. Family members say they were able to rush out and free Bella from the pit bull's bite.

Bbella suffered a broken jaw, two broken ribs and a deep tear to her trachea.

The family rushed her in to surgery, where she's still recovering.

Bella's medical bills are $3,800 and climbing.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay the cost.

On Sunday May 7th, 2017, our baby Bella was attacked by a Pit Bull in our backyard. The Pit Bull jumped on our fence, and knocked it over just enough so it could jump over it.

The Pit Bull came through our back yard and grabbed our Bella by her neck and throat and started shaking her left and right trying to break her neck. We managed to break Bella free from the dogs mouth.

With Bella in our arms we tried to rush her into the house, just as the Pit Bull attacked her again. This time latching onto her right arm.

Thankfully we got her away from the dog again. We rushed her to the 24 hour Veterinary Emergency Hospital. The Vet did x-rays on Bella and told us that she was very lucky to be alive. The Vet then informed us of what exactly was wrong with her, and what our options were.

Our little Bella is suffering due to a upward broken jaw (from trying to defend herself), 2 broken ribs, several missing teeth (some are lodged in her nasal cavity), a torn trachea, and several deep bite marks in her back and neck area.

The Vet informed us that we had only two options on where to take her that deals with critical patients such as Bella. After making our decision on where she would go, we had less than an hour to get her there. She had to be removed from her oxygen so we could transport her to the next Vet, the Vet told us to call if she needed CPR in the car because she wasn't supposed to be off of oxygen.

The whole ride there we were in tears because we didn't think she was going to make it. But she stayed strong and fought her hardest. When we arrived at the Vet they immediately put her back on oxygen because she was struggling so hard to breath on her own due to the torn trachea.

After panicking for 4 hours, the Vet informed us that she needed an emergency surgery on her trachea because her chest was filling up with air where it wasn't supposed to. They also needed to pull her teeth out of her nasal cavity otherwise she wouldn't be able to breathe out of her nose.

As for the broken jaw, they are planning on wiring it shut to align it, and they are going to keep an eye on her broken ribs. We all want our Bella home, and you can see in her eyes that she wants to as well. We've all cried for her, lost sleep thinking about her,  and said many prayers for her. We miss our little Bella waiting at the door wagging her little tail.

While our baby is in so much pain waiting to come home, we have to have her vet bills paid off before we can take her. The balance on her bill is still at $3,800 and counting, we've already made payments totaling to $2,400. We just want our baby home where she belongs!

If you're reading this and can donate, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you cannot donate, we ask that you please say a prayer for our little baby! We appreciate anything even if it's a $1 or a prayer.
