Mississippi: Charoyd Bell, arrested last year for animal cruelty, now arrested for dog fighting

MISSISSIPPI -- A Natchez man, who made headlines in 2016 for animal cruelty and posting pictures of it on social media, has been arrested again for felony cruelty to animals after a tip led police to a dog fighting operation.

On May 11 around 6:30 p.m. Natchez deputies received an anonymous call tipping them off about dog fighting happening at 507 Lasalle St. in Natchez.

When the deputies arrived, they heard distressed sounding yelps and howls coming from the bayou next to the home. As they walked towards the home, they say a woman named Georgia Chatman walked outside and was later arrested on an active warrant she had with the Natchez Police Department.

Chatman has been charged with cruelty to animals.

Deputies continued to follow the sounds of distress coming from the dogs in the bayou. As they entered the bayou, they saw two men standing in the area; one holding a pit bull on a leash facing another pit bull that was wearing a harness tethered to a tree.

Authorities say a third pit bull dog was running loose in the same area. The man holding the leash was identified as Charoyd Bell and the other was identified as Damien Green.

Officials say the dog Bell was holding on the leash had severe scarring on it’s face, head and body, along with swelling and fresh cuts. It's tongue had been partially bitten off, according to the report.

Both men were escorted out of the bayou and Bell was placed under arrest for felony cruelty to animals- dog fights.

Fourteen other dogs were rescued, some in very poor condition. Investigators collected other evidence at the scene and got the animals to a safe location to be examined by a veterinarian.

More charges could be added pending the veterinarian’s report and further investigations.

No mention of Molly Bell, Charoyd Bell's wife, being charged (yet). She and Charoyd apparently run a pit bull breeding business called Square Bkisnis Kennels.

This is the second time Bell has been arrested on this type of charge.

On March 1, 2016 Bell was arrested for animal cruelty (carrying an animal in a cruel manner) after photos he posted to Facebook began circulating, outraging the public and catching police attention.

He's also posted pictures of dogs fighting each other on multiple occasions.

I can't even understand what he's written in that post. Clearly he didn't pay attention in school when they taught the kids how to read and write in ENGLISH.
