Illinois: Timothy Carter, 27, who has since moved to Ohio is accused of beating a dog to death back in 2015

ILLINOIS -- Bond was set at $50,000 last week for a Mahomet man charged in connection with the death of a dog in 2015.

Timothy Allen Carter, 27, who listed addresses in the 2200 block of Olen in Mahomet and the 1800 block of Oakwood Avenue, Columbus, Ohio; was charged Wednesday with felony aggravated cruelty to an animal. He is due back in court Friday.

According to a police report, Carter was alone with a dog on Nov. 10, 2015, when he hit the animal.

The dog suffered substantial internal injuries, causing hemorrhaging in the skull and thorax.

Police said the dog became non-responsive and died shortly thereafter.

A necropsy conducted by a University of Illinois veterinarian concluded that the dog's cause of death was non-accidental blunt-force trauma.

According to court records, a warrant was issued for Carter's arrest on Dec. 3, 2015.

Carter said he slapped or spanked the dog as discipline.
