Virginia: Juddy Taylor Sr., 54, caught hoarding 35 dogs; 10 had to be euthanized

VIRGINIA -- A Buchanan County, Va. man faces charges including animal cruelty after Tazewell County deputies discovered 35 neglected dogs at this home.

Sheriff Brian Hieatt said his deputies were serving felony indictments on Juddy Taylor Sr., 54, when they found multiple dogs “that hadn’t been taken care of. They didn’t have proper food or shelter.

They found one animal dead in the driveway, so we ended up having to transport 35 dogs to the Tazewell County Animal Shelter.”

Hieatt said ten of the 35 dogs had to be euthanized.

Taylor was arrested on the felony indictments from Buchanan County, which include drug charges, Hieatt said. Taylor could face charges including animal cruelty and abuse of a companion animal.

“If you have that many animals, you have to make sure you have the means to give them proper shelter, shots and care,” he said.

Taylor is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority.
