Girl recovering after dog attack

RHODE ISLAND -- A Providence girl is recovering after a dog attacked her on Thursday night.

The teenager was bitten on the arms and legs at a friend's house, and then walked back to her home on Ellery Street.

NBC 10 learned the girl went into the friend's house, but no one was there and that's when the dog attacked.

"From what I hear, she walked into a friend's hallway and the dog attacked her. She seen him in the hallway, tried to run away and (the dog) grabbed her leg or something," Derrick Baker, the victim's brother told NBC 10.

Officials said the breed of dog is a Chow. Family members said the girl appears to be doing OK.
The dog's owner appeared to be out of town.

Animal control officers left the dog in the house, but it's under a quarantine order.
