Message from Albemarle Animal hospital. This pup had surgery yesterday: 252-823-1177:

We have a beagle that the owner wanted to euthanize that has a de-gloved lip that has had two surgeries to try and fix it. Dr Fulghum wants to try one more time and do the surgery today to see if she can fix it if a rescue would take him. He's 7 years old not neutered and Heartworm negative.

He had gotten attacked by a pit bull and is a super nice dog!! We don't want to euthanize him. do you know of a rescue that would take him?

California: Six-month old Beagle puppy mauled by Pit Bull, which grabbed his face breaking his jaw and shredding his gums

CALIFORNIA -- On Saturday evening (1/27) my neighbor's six-month old beagle-mix puppy, Reilly, was attacked by a pit bull and very seriously mauled.

Reilly is currently undergoing emergency surgery to repair a broken jaw and torn up gums/teeth-- a very pricey procedure that will be close to $5,000. In addition rehabilitation and medical follow ups.

Reilly's Dad is the nicest person in the world and he's suddenly burdened by the extreme costs of emergency surgery and post-surgery care for his pup.

I would love to show him (a first-time dog owner)  that there are people and animal lovers who are willing to step up and help a neighbor in need and take the burden off of some of the medical expenses. Anything helps! If you can't donate please consider sharing or forwarding the campaign to someone who might be able to.

**Note: The incident has been reported to the proper authorities** You are welcome to call Officer Redfield or the officer on duty at animal control to confirm the incident. (310) 207-3156

Update 1
The outpouring of love and support for Reilly and James is incredible. Thank you all so much for your generosity. I can't tell you how inspiring it is to see so many friends, neighbors and strangers ban together to help. It is lovely to see this side of humanity.

I will be keeping you all updated as James has his hands full looking after Reilly, but the emergency jaw re-attachment surgery was a success and Reilly has started on the long road to recovery!! Your donations will help pay for this surgery and take away some of the burden of medical debt and rehabilitation costs.

Please continue to share with friends/animal lovers as I'm hoping to continue on our goal to covering the full cost of Reilly's surgery.

Thank you all so much xox

**See James' personal comment on this page below, but he has promised that in the future should he ever be able to successfully collect damages from those held responsible for the attack, he pledges to donate the funds received here on gofund me to a local rescue shelter or animal hospital.

United Kingdom: After her Beagle was attacked by a Pit Bull, woman didn't think he was hurt. But later found two giant wounds on him.

UNITED KINGDOM -- Egle Navickiene posted on Facebook January 4, 2018 at 6:25am ·

This is something everyone needs to know. Me and my friend decided to have a walk with the dogs (beagle and poodle) at white waters Park in Waltham Abbey 4pm yesterday when man with a white Staffordshire Pit Bull with black markings came up and his dog after couple of sniffs, [attacks] my dog.

Scene itself was ugly as you can imagine, he [attacked] my dog's tummy, was trying to bite on a sides, and when I hit the attacking dog few times with heavy handle of my dogs' leash it was over.

The idiot was saying dog is alright which obviously wasn't. I've check my dog, looked fine at the moment and we continued our walk, got home.

And then my husband took my beagle to the shower where he started to bleed and he found two big wounds. Ended up in vets, paid bill over £100 and now my boy is on 10 days antibiotic course and inflammatory /painkillers medicine.

Need to go tomorrow and after tomorrow for checks and sleep with him tonight to make sure he is not bleeding more, his temperature is not going up.

WTF (sorry for my French) is wrong with people???!!! Next time it can be someone's child, be careful and PLEASE PLEASE report it to police. Make pictures if you can, spread the word around as it's really increasing. It's not a first time for us this year but this time it was the worst.

Illinois: Dog named Pumpkin has leg so badly mangled by attacking Pit Bull it has to be amputated

ILLINOIS -- Pumpkin is a dog I have only recently met.  A happy sweet optimistic little lady, full of energy and love. Yet sadly, her life was going to end the day she was brought into our lives.

She had been attacked by a [Pit Bull]. Her leg was torn to shreds, and she had picture wounds all over her body.

My husband was asked to help bring pumpkin to the vet for emergency care. As blood poured out of her we had little time to decide whether to help her or not. The owners could not afford the treatment and were going to euthanize her.

After talking it over for a few minutes, my husband and I decided to take on the responsibility of the bill and care of pumpkin. We do know it is a lot to take on and still have agreed to do so, however; the cost is very high, $2,800. An additional $900 will now be added as well.

Her leg is too badly injured to be saved and must be amputated in order to stop infection from killing her.

We had to borrow the money to pay for all of this by borrowing money from a very good friend and must pay this back as soon as we possibly can.

We are asking for any help possible in order to give this dog a second chance to live. Because when you think about why we all get up, work, and keep going day after day when things are tough, you realize it's all just to live.

Missouri: Josiah Wheat ordered to undergo mental evaluation after he filmed himself beating a litter of puppies to death and posted it online

MISSOURI -- Josiah David Wheat, 31, of Vanzant, charged Aug. 31 in the beating deaths of five puppies, has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation by Douglas County Circuit Court Judge R. Craig Carter.

Wheat is facing five felony counts of animal abuse by torture and/or mutilation while the animal was alive.

He allegedly posted a video of himself beating the puppies to death with a baseball bat on Facebook. Officials with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department reported they received numerous calls from the United States and Canada regarding the video.

The video, dated Aug. 25, reportedly showed the dogs being hit 16 times over the course of one minute, with most of the injured, dying puppies still moving and making noises at the end of it.

A photo of the dead puppies was also allegedly posted, along with the statement “these pups were illegitimate forced upon a beagle at residence while I was away and began too make a mess, in my experience such mess if not handled is latched upon by downgrading individual(s) who want too tear others down, so in essence killing these pups is similar too aborting rape impregnation.” [sic]

According to records, during a search of Wheat’s residence, items matching those seen in the video were found and an area of the home matched a view shown on the video.

The bodies of the puppies were never found, but officers reported there was a female beagle at the residence that appeared to have been nursing puppies. No live puppies were found on the property.

ORIGINAL STORY:
(KY3 - August 31, 2017)

Authorities have arrested Josiah David Wheat for posting a graphic video of himself on Facebook, beating a litter of puppies to death.

Investigators at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office first saw the graphic video on Tuesday, and they've been working on this case ever since.

The video posted on a rural Douglas county man's Facebook page outraged many, including his friend, Becky Parker.

Parker says, "I got through about 3 seconds of the video. And then I immediately contacted him, and he kept rejecting my calls, and finally he messaged me back and said it was none of my business; I was blowing it out of proportion."

The video shows the puppies being beaten to death with a baseball bat. Parker and others reported it to law enforcement.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase says, "A lot of the evidence is there. The ball bat; we're able to match up the baseball bat; you could read the writing on the video."

Degase says a bat matching the one in the video was seized from the man's car when Mountain Grove officers arrested him this morning. They planned the arrest in a traffic stop to avoid a situation like another with the same man in the past.

"He was combative; he had a 22. We ended up, I believe 96 hour committing him for a mental evaluation, and then really haven't had any contact with him since then. But that incident there was tense. I believe he was tased twice," says Degase.

Parker is shocked by the deadly beating, but also concerned for the man.

"He confided in me; he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, he says, and he never took his medications, ever," Parker says.

"My opinion, I do believe he has some type of mental disorder," says Degase.

"He has no remorse, which kind of unnerved me a little bit. I just want him to get some help. For his safety, I'm glad he's in custody, and for our safety, and all the animals out there," says Parker.

The man accused of making that video is now being held in the Douglas County jail; the sheriff expects charges by tomorrow.

The sheriff says the man gave consent for investigators to search his property, and the Douglas County Sheriff and the Humane Society of Missouri arrived at his home Thursday afternoon in eastern Douglas County.

The man's Facebook page shows an adult female dog with a caption including, "This female canine doesn't have the stress of the vagrant impregnation that was the five pup litter."

It's unclear if he has any other animals. The Facebook page also included recent posts of links about pet euthanasia.

United Kingdom: "He had chunks missing from his little body" - Beloved beagle is mauled to death by two bloodthirsty Pit Bulls during walk in the park

UNITED KINGDOM -- A two-year-old Beagle has died after he was savagely torn to pieces by two dogs as he was taken out for a walk in the park.

Chester the two-year-old beagle had 'chunks missing from his body' after he was set upon by the dogs which appear to be Mastiff Argentinos (Dogo Argentinos) or pit bulls - breeds banned in the UK.

Police say it remains unclear what type of dogs they are, and experts are carrying out tests to determine their breed.

Janet Payne, Chester's dog walker, said she was forced to watch him being thrown around 'like a rag doll' and claims when she asked the dogs' owner for help, he simply replied: 'Why the f*** wasn't your dog on a lead?'

Peter Moran, the first person on the scene, said 'never in his life had he seen utter barbaric scenes.'

Disturbing video of the attack shows blood pouring from the dog' mouths as they savage the defenceless pet near St Patrick's High School in Winton.

In the clip, their owner can be seen trying to unlock the animal's jaws before walking away.

Images of the man seen with the two dogs have now been circulated on Facebook.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the two dogs have now been seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991). Police said the owner has not yet been arrested, as the investigation is ongoing.

Chester, a gift from Jennifer Thornley to her husband Gary for their wedding two years ago, had been let off the lead to enjoy a run-around with his dog walker when he was brutally set upon.

Jennifer, 29, a hospital doctor, said: 'He was the most beautiful boy.

'He was our best friend, we absolutely love him. He was so friendly, so trusting. I don't know what we are going to do without him and I've never seen Gary like this. When I saw him he was in our kitchen, he had chunks missing from his little body.

'I've seen the video - those dogs enjoyed it. What if this happens to a child? We need to do something.'

Janet Payne, Chester's dog walker, said she was forced to watch him being thrown around 'like a rag doll' on Wednesday afternoon.

Ms Payne, 39, was walking five dogs at the time.

She said: 'I was shouting to Chester to come and I looked up and saw two big dogs with something between them. I just knew. I screamed.

'I clipped the other dogs to a railing and ran to Chester. He was in the middle of the field being pulled all over the place.

'The little boy was being torn to pieces.'

Ms Payne tried to intervene, begging the man walking the pit bulls to help.

But she claims all he said was: 'why the f*** wasn't your dog on a lead?'

After around 30 seconds, Chester was dead.

Peter Moran wrote on Facebook: 'I was the first passer by on the seen to help this poor woman try to calm down never in my life have I seen utter barbaric scenes.

'Not only was I walking my labrador but I stayed with the woman until the police arrived and looked after the other four dogs.

'My heart goes out to the owners and the dog walker. The dog walker was utterly in bits, I wasnt leaving her until the police arrived.

'My heart goes out to the beagles' owners can't imagine what they must be going through.'

Ms Payne added: 'At one point the white dog looked at me and I thought I was for it, but he went back to Chester.

'Then the man managed to get him off and left the other dog with me as he walked off calling for it every now and then.

'Eventually the blood-covered dog ran after him, he didn't even look back. He just left me screaming in horror with the poor lifeless boy at my feet.'

Janet called the police and Jennifer's partner, Gary, a 28-year-old a project manager for Barclays rushed to the scene and found his dog mauled to death on the grass.

Jennifer added: 'Chester was so funny and made us laugh every day. He followed us everywhere around the house - and if one of us was upstairs and the other downstairs, he'd sit on the top step so he could be between us.

'Everyone just loved him, he was a member of our family, a gentle, friendly, loving dog who was just happy to be close to us.'

The couple took Chester to Scotland two weeks ago where they went on a four-hour hike led by their beloved pet.

Gary said: 'He always fell asleep on guests' laps and he was always so happy, he cheered us up. He hated it if we were upset or we hurt ourselves.

'When Jennifer worked night shifts before her shifts as a hospital doctor, Chester would keep her company during the day - and then be by Gary's side when he was alone at night.'

Update: The dogs are now being described as a Pit Bull / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix and a Mastiff type dog (referred to as a "Bully Kutta", a blanket term for all breeds of fighting dog in Pakistan, which is a large muscular Mastiff-type dog).

So should we be surprised that a fighting dog is attacking and killing a docile Beagle? Of course not. It's inherent in their genetics to be this way.

There's a reason that laboratories that experiment on animals use Beagles - because they're known to be sweet and docile. They don't use Pit Bulls and other bully breed type dogs because they're not known for being sweet and docile. Even cruel scientists who experiment and kill innocent dogs know this.

Nevada: "My beloved dog Ringo was attacked by a pit bull while we were waiting for my child's morning school bus"

NEVADA -- Hi, My beloved dog Ringo was attacked by a pit bull while we were waiting for my child's morning school bus.

The attack came out of nowhere as my Ringo is very docile.  The pit bull was being walked on a leash but his owner did NOTHING to help.  I could not get this dog off of my poor baby.  I stood there helpless while Ringo cried.

My 9 year old was in sheer terror as we tried to get this dog to let go.  I was kicking it, school kids were punching at it, but its owner did nothing but watch.

This man said he would pay for the vet, but when he saw it was $1000 he no longer answers his front door.

i am legally blind and on a fixed income, I do not have the money for all the procedures Ringo needs.  I paid for part of his surgery but I had to say no to some things because they would not treat him without payment.  I am pleading for anyone to help, I am only wishing for help with vet bills, nothing extra.

As of today I am going to be late on every single bill.  This tragedy has made me choose between his surgery and my mortgage.  I chose him and have my fingers crossed that some one could please help.   It would mean everything to my family, and restore my faith in many  ways.

Thank you for reading this, please donate if you can.

Update 1
Ringo had the drains removed from his neck and ear yesterday, he is wagging his tail again!!! A heartfelt thank you to our donors, you have all been so kind.

Update 2
His stitches come out on the 28th!!! He is healing nicely. Thanks again for all the support. I had a free consult with attorneys, sadly they all declined my case. The filing of paperwork and judgments plus fees is actually more than my vet bill. So there is no money in it for them basically.
