Yesterday while on vacation we got a call that Gunther was attacked by a pit bull. He was taken to the vet & thought he would be okay.

Tonight while I was holding him, his breathing changed and just like that our lives turned upside down.

We've had 10 years of memories that we will cherish always. Prayers for our sweet babies while they're broken hearts heal😒🐢 #healourhearts

California: While visiting family in Hawaii, man's Chihuahua mauled to death by Pit Bull

HAWAII -- Marco Anich posted on Facebook March 1, 2018 · Irvine, CA ·

Lost one of my dearest little brothers last night. Duke, you were a blessing to us on this earth, though our time together was short it was amazing and you brightened our hearts with every bark, wag, and (occasional) bite. My heart is sad, but I’m happy to know you are free, and that your spirit is chasing your favorite ball up there wherever you are. Until we meet again, brother. love you always. πŸ™ ❤️πŸŒ…

RIP little Duke

Blessed to have gone back home last week and spend time with the folks, a few friends, and of course my favorite Pughuahua, Li’i. Although it wasn’t on the best of terms (we are still mourning the loss of our beloved Chihuahua Duke who was killed by a pit bull on Ilimano Street in Kailua), seeing family and living Hawaii for a bit is always a blessing. Love you guys! Duke, aloha braddah..until we meet again soon!  ❤️

Florida: Tiny Chihuahua named Rico somehow survives vicious Pit Bull attack; slowly recovering

FLORIDA -- Earlier this month this family started a fundraising page after their beloved little Chihuahua was mauled by a Pit Bull (sigh, I know. The attacks never stop). They've updated their fundraising page with photos and updates. Here's the latest:

Our dog Rico (a chihuahua) was attacked this morning by a pit bull.

His injuries are extensive and needs jaw repair surgery (his jaw is broke and his teeth are separated from his gums), which costs $5,000 or more.

After seeing two vets in Central Florida, we were referred to and are taking him to the University of Florida in Gainesville to be seen by a specialist (that’s how extensive the damage is).

This dog has been with my wife through some of the worst times of her life, and the best times when we became family and had our (now 17 month old) daughter. He is a sweet, beautiful dog, and our daughter loves playing with him.

This is a huge financial burden and we would appreciate all of the help you can give. Thank you!

Update 1
Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared this campaign! This was a horrible attack and the injuries are more extensive than we thought. He has two puncture wounds on his chest, the front and back of his jaw is broke, and his teeth are detached from his gums. He will need a CT scan done and the surgery for his whole jaw. Please continue to share if you aren't able to donate, and donate if you can. Words can't express the gratitude we have for everyone who has written, called, texted, and donated so far. This is a very tough time but you all have made it a little "easier" to handle. Thank you!

Update 2
I just got news that the back of Rico’s jaw is broken on BOTH sides. He was given medicine to sedate him, but he’s still fighting it and they are having trouble examining all the way and doing what’s necessary to support the jaw...

Update 3
Rico is back for now. They were only able to put a wire in his front jaw and put the muzzle around his nose to try and stabilize the broken back jaw until the surgery. Monday is the EARLIEST they can get him into surgery, so we’ll be taking him back up to Gainesville to get re-examined, speak with the specialty doctor’s, and figure out the path forward. He may not get the surgery Monday, but we’ll have more answers then. It’s sad to see him so uncomfortable and subdued.

Thank you again for your prayers, communications, and donations. This is a hard hit financially, and you all have helped alleviate part of that stress with your donations. So thank you! Please continue to share this. Thank you again! (Sorry, my mind is still all over the place right now and I may not be making sense...it’s a tough time right now). Thank you.

Update 4
We received some great news today, but also some bad news. The great news is Rico is still alive and well enough to stay alive! The doctors were really impressed with his demeanor and healing in just two short days. On Saturday, the doctors weren’t confident he would make it. He is now home and will hopefully be able to get ‘comfortable’ around here again. He’s back with his brother and sister who missed him a lot, but they need to be apart for a while.

The bad news is he is still in bad shape and it’s going to be a long road to recovery. We will be going to Gainesville weekly. However, we are so blessed that Rico will be with us! God has blessed us with his recovery so far and blessed us with you. Prayers do work, and we thank you for your support, donations, and prayers. Please keep them coming! Thank you so much!

Update 5
Great news from yesterday! We made the trip back up to Gainesville for Rico to get looked at again. The doctors seem to really love Rico and were happy to see him again. It looks like he’s making a better-than-expected recovery!

He still has a long way to go, but he is slowly getting his appetite and energy back. His jaw is looking better (still bad, but better) and the doctors are okay with not doing the surgery on him!

He will be on medicine and have the muzzle/cone on for quite some time. He will also have a huge change in diet and the work they’ve already done on his mouth (wires and other hardware) will have to stay in for a while. We are very happy that he is recovering better than expected and won’t need to undergo surgery! We are most grateful for him still being alive!

Side Note: We cannot thank you all enough for your support, prayers, and donations! We truly believe that the prayers have helped facilitate this better than expected healing. God is great, and your prayers are amazing! So thank you!

Thank you as well for your donations! Without them, we would not have been able to afford what has already happened with treatment. I would also like to mention that, although it has been used towards his medical bills, the funds were initially slated to go towards the surgery for Rico, which he no longer needs. So if anyone would like a refund of their donation, please let me know and I will get that back to you.

Because the title of this campaign is “Surgery Costs....” and he is able to now avoid the surgery, if you’d like the donation returned, we will understand with no hard feelings.

Again, we are grateful for your help and support, and very blessed to have friends and family like you! We are also extremely blessed and thankful that Rico is alive and recovering! Thank you again!

This pit bull is similar to the male dog that attacked and killed our dog today.

Sadly today our baby Macho was taken from us by an aggressive Pit Bull!

If you or anyone you know were at the park on Hamilton and Newland across from Edison High School Friday 3/2 between 12:30-12:45pm and saw the owner of a white spotted 110-lb pit bull attacking my 6-lb chihuahua please reply to this message.

We do not know who the owner is other than he is a 60 year-old male with short dark hair. We need to speak to him! ASAP. This incident will be reported to the police and animal control.

Florida: Pit Bull had played with their small dog on numerous occasions without issue. Today it killed her.

FLORIDA -- Velora Clevenger posted on Facebook March 2, 2018 ·

Jimmy's dog after a Pit bull attacked it.

These two dogs had been playing together for some time, then today the pit bull turned on the little one and killed her.

The reason I was at my brothers is our youngest brother just passed away on Wednesday. Now Jimmy has lost his dog, too.

DJuana Jean Flowers - It has everything to with breed. Every innate behavior in animals has to do with how they are genetically designed. Pit Bull types are bred to kill other dogs. They kill the vast majority of pets and livestock. They are the #1 killer if infants, children and adults out of all other breeds. The facts are available for anyone who desires truth. It's not new.

Pits have always killed people. It's documented in news and obituaries. It's just that there are so many in our neighborhoods now that we see huge numbers of animals and people suffering death and profound maulings. Don't be fooled.

Olivia Riley - I’m sorry this happened... but please don’t blame the pit bull... blame the owners that raised him wrong... any breed of dog could have done this

Jennie Conway - Pit bulls always kill other animals. They kill more than all other breeds combined. Your pets and children are never safe around pit bulls. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog. Make a report to the authorities. That killer could next turn on a human.

Jon Zolis - What a joke some dog on the ground no visible harm ZERO blood and you claim it was killed by a pit nothing but bullshit propaganda To all the pit hating commenters give your heads a shake the two neurons you have are filing to fire!

Chantal Clarke - I don't think this person is going to take a picture of a deceased dog just to blame another breed of dog. I absolutely believe this dog was attacked and killed by a pit bull, sadly it happens everyday. My condolences to these people who lost their beloved pet.

(February 2018) California: Woman knocked to the ground, her Chihuahua named Buddy mauled by Pit Bull

CALIFORNIA -- On 1-19-18, my mom took her dog Buddy out to go to the bathroom. As they were walking back in, a few feet from her front door, a pit bull came from behind them and viciously attacked her dog. She got knocked to the ground and couldn't get up because she was in shock.

As she sat there horrified by what she was seeing, her precious Buddy getting attacked and getting mauled on his neck, she wondered if she was next. She some how managed to notice a SUV going by. As she screamed and waved her hand, this Angel stopped and helped her. She fought this dog off and called 911.

If it wasn't for this lady, no telling what the outcome would've been. This attack on Buddy has left her afraid and looking over a shoulder every time she takes him out. (Note, she always takes him out with his leash).

Unfortunately this isn't the first time she's experienced a vicious attack on her dog. The first time happened 9 years ago while she was walking her dog Pepito around the neighborhood. A pit came out of no where again and mauled him to death.

She wasn't able to save him but she was able to save Buddy. Now she is faced with unforeseen bills because Buddy had to undergo 2 surgeries and is still under veterinary care. So far the bills are $ 1,200. This attack on him has opened old wounds and left her uneasy to go in her own front yard.

We know time heals all and thank God for this Angel that stopped to help them.If you're able to help her in any way you can, we'd appreciate it. And if you can't, that's ok to. We just ask that you pray for Buddy for healing and for our precious mom, nana, and grandma for peace of mind and healing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, your generosity, and prayers. The Flores Family

California: Chihuahua attacked by Pit Bull needs $5,000 in veterinary care to save his life

CALIFORNIA -- Hello my name is Arlin Gomez.

On the 26th of January, my Chihuahua Penikiki was attacked  by a stray Pit bull. The dog let loose on Penikiki and bit him, grappled him, and tossed him like he was a chew toy.

The owner of the dog came rushing forward and restrained him as I took my chihuahua and ran. As luck would have it, there was a animal shelter nearby where I rushed him to, and from there, he is being treat at the Vet Hospital.

The vet told us that he would need a CT Scan, x-rays, and possibly surgery. The bill comes down to around $4000.00.

My family and I cannot afford to pay the bill on our own. Penikiki is loved by our whole family. Please help us pay his bill. We Would greatly appreciate it. Bless you all

Update 1
Posted by Arlin Gomez
So I just got off the phone with the Vet he’s at, and they said he has a tear in his urethra that is a whole centimeter wide. The surgery itself would be $5000. The x-rays they took of him show that the vertebrae is damaged and will need to see a specialist.

We at the moment do not know what to do. At this point is all up to the will of the gods and donations from kind people. We all appreciate your donations, kind words, and support. Thank you so much for all your help. Bless you all and have a wonderful day ??
