California: Three six-month-old Pit Bulls already have the instinct to chase, attack, maul and kill; try to kill elderly woman's Corgi

CALIFORNIA -- Schelli Rambo posted on Facebook January 4, 2018 at 6:38pm · Foothill Farms ·

My first "good human deed" happened today!!

On my way to the Bodega for dinner supplies, I witnessed three unleashed young pit bulls attacking and chasing a small Corgi.

When I pulled over, i saw that the Corgi belonged to an elderly woman. I immediately began chasing the dogs to get them if the poor Corgi. Finally caught up with them as the Corgi wedged herself under a nearby car for protection!!

I caught up to them and screamed at the pitties at the top of my lungs!!! I meant business!! They ran off back to their owner, and the Corgi ran home.

Meanwhile, i run back to my car which i left running and my purse in the seat, to park and lock it... I quickly wrote down the license plate number if the pit owners' truck, in case she took off... Then went looking for the woman and dog to give her the information...

The woman had taken her dog home, which i had no idea where that was so going door to door and asking around. The pit owner was also looking for the woman to do the right thing. Finally found the woman, whose husband went out to exchange information with the pit owner lady.

Who was taking her sons dogs out to run around since they can't at home....

Luckily the Corgi was not bleeding, however her back was sensitive to the touch. I strongly suggested to the elderly couple to take their dog to the vet to check and make sure!!!

The end ❤️😁

Paisley got attacked by a pit bull that wasn’t even a year old. It was still a pup and ran up on her to attack. Literally had to throw myself on top of her to protect her. They’re mean dogs.

New York: Gina Browning, spokeswoman for the Erie County SPCA, swears that Pit Bulls are wonderful as elderly woman laments the repeated attacks by Pit Bulls on her beloved pets

NEW YORK -- A neighbor's pit bull attacked Daisy Moore's cockapoo two years ago near her Grand Island home, and the dog suffered serious injuries. Her dog, little Maggie, recovered after expensive treatment by a veterinarian.

But Maggie died a few months later of cancer.

So Moore, a 76-year-old widow and retiree, got another cockapoo, this one named Brandi. Once again, a neighbor's pit bull – a different one – attacked Brandi. This dog, too, is recovering.

Daisy Moore tends to her injured cockapoo, Brandi, who was mauled
by a pit bull during a walk in their Grand Island neighborhood in
early September. Daisy is the second cockapoo Moore has owned
that was attacked by a pit bull. (Derek Gee/Buffalo News)

Moore is having a hard time accepting that two of her beloved pets have been attacked and mauled by pit bulls in the same neighborhood, in very similar situations.

"Both of these incidents, were very upsetting to me … I would say traumatic," Moore said. "Younger people may not understand, but when you get older and you live by yourself, and you have a pet, that pet becomes part of your family. What hurts them hurts you, too."

The latest attack was like déjà vu, Moore said.

"My two cockapoos are almost identical to each other," she said. "Both were attacked on the same street, a couple of blocks from each other. You just can't believe all of this is happening to you again."

Brandi was attacked Sept. 1 while a close friend and neighbor, Luigi "Louie" D'Orazio, 88, was taking the cockapoo for a morning walk on Wallace Road, Moore said.

"Louie was walking Brandi on the sidewalk, and a man across the street was walking two pit bulls – an adult pit bull wearing a muzzle, and a pit bull puppy that was eight months old," Moore said.

"The puppy got away from the man and ran across the street and went right for Brandi's throat. … The dog's owner came running over and pulled his pit bull away, but the damage had already been done."

Eight month old Pit Bull 'puppy' tears out the throat of another dog. This dog has shown what its true demeanor is - a killing machine. It will get worse as it gets older. I guarantee you this dog will maul someone someday.

The pit bull's owner was extremely apologetic and immediately agreed to pay for the veterinary care bill – for $539 – that Brandi received for wounds suffered in the attack, Moore said.

She said the pit bull's owner has since told her that the 'puppy' has been sent to live with a family in a rural area of the Southern Tier, and that the animal will not return to Grand Island.

Great, so it can attack and kill pets and people in Southern Tier... this is called NIMBY (not in my backyard) when people ship vicious dogs off to other towns and put them at risk.

"The owner is a very nice man, and he has been very decent about the whole thing," Moore said. "But my very strong feeling is that people should not own pit bulldogs or other powerful dogs if they can't keep them under control."

D'Orazio also was the dog walker on the same road in August 2015 when a pit bull inside a nearby home pushed its way through a window screen, ran outside and attacked the smaller dog.

In that incident, a younger man who lives in the neighborhood came to D'Orazio's aid and was able to fight off the pit bull.

Maggie lost two ribs, suffered deep bite wounds that required numerous stitches, and had to stay in the vet's clinic for 10 days. Her care cost Moore just under $2,900.

A Grand Island town judge allowed the pit bull's owner – a different owner than the one involved in the attack this month – to keep the dog, but the judge required him to reimburse Moore for the veterinary bill.

"He did finally pay me what he owed me," Moore said.

Is the Pit Bull under ANY restrictions? Or was it just handed back over to the owner so it can attack and kill again?

Luigi D'Orazio walks his friend Daisy Moore's dog, Brandi, on Huth Road
in Grand Island on Sept. 8. He was walking the cockapoo when
she was mauled by a pit bull in their neighborhood a week earlier.
(Derek Gee/Buffalo News)

Maggie died of cancer in January 2016, five months after she was attacked, and then Moore got Brandi. Now, the latest attack.

"Physically, it looks like Brandi will be OK," Moore said. "She had six bite marks on her chest and throat. She had to get stitches. The vet tells me she is going to be OK, but she's really not herself. She just sits in the window all day. She's been very lethargic since she was attacked, but when a cat walked by the house today, she barked like crazy. For a few minutes, she was like her old self."

She said the latest incident made her fearful about the safety of children and other small dogs in the neighborhood. She reported the incident to the Erie County Sheriff's Office and the Grand Island Animal Control office. She said she will be talking to an animal control officer again within the next few days.

Moore said she is really not looking for any punishment of the pit bull's owner, and she declined to name him.

"He has been so nice about the whole thing, and he's sent the dog down to the Southern Tier," she said. "I'm not saying all pit bulls are bad. I think it depends on their breeding and the environment they are raised in. I just have very strong feelings that people who own these big, aggressive dogs need to control them. If they can't control them, they shouldn't own them."

A spokesman for the Erie County Sheriff's Office said a deputy interviewed Moore and others about the incident and turned the case over to the town of Grand Island's animal control officer. The town office said the investigation is continuing.

In recent years, there has been a growing controversy – both locally and nationally – regarding aggressive attacks by some pit bulls.

A national organization called DogsBite.org calls the pit bull the most dangerous and lethal of all dog breed and varieties. The organization said pit bulls were responsible for 65 percent of all the fatal dog attacks against humans in the United States in the years 2005 through 2016.

Dogs killed 392 Americans during that period, and 254 of those attacks involved pit bulls (65%), the organization says.

More than 900 communities in the United States have adopted laws declaring pit bulls “dangerous” or “vicious” animals and putting restrictions on ownership of the dogs. Some cities, including Miami, Fla.; Denver, Colo. and Pawtucket, R.I., have banned pit bull ownership altogether.

Support organizations such as the National Pit Bull Foundation say the vast majority of pit bulls are sweet, loyal and harmless pets. The foundation says the pit bull gets unfair bad publicity, and it denies that the animals are aggressive by nature. The group also maintains that some pit bulls have problems caused by abusive or inattentive owners.

GINA BROWNING, PIT BULL APOLOGIST

"We do not view pit bulls as being inherently dangerous or vicious," said Gina Browning, spokeswoman for the Erie County SPCA.

"Not to minimize in any way what happened to this woman and her dogs, but we hear many more of the wonderful, happy stories about pit bulls and their families. At the same time, we're not going to say that every pit bull terrier is right for every family."

"Not to minimize in any way what happened to this woman and her dogs, but we hear many more of the wonderful, happy stories about pit bulls and their families..." -- this is called #SorryNotSorry

Any person who owns any powerfully built dog needs to make sure they can control their dog, Browning said.

They need to watch for any kind of "trigger" that causes their dog – whether a pit bull or any other variety – to become aggressive.

"If your dog shows aggressive behavior toward other dogs or people, you need to contact a professional dog handler and find out what it is that stresses or triggers your dog," Browning said. "These situations need to be addressed early, while the dog is a puppy."

OK what if the 'puppy', in this case an 8-month-old PIT BULL puppy is the one attacking and trying to rip its victim apart? What is your advice for that one, Gina Browning???

Pit bulls that attacked boy in #TexasCityTX remain in quarantine

• No update available on boy's condition
• Police: Family took appropriate measures to secure dogs

Two pit bulls that were responsible for a Saturday (7-1-2017) night attack on a boy, will be held in the Galveston County Animal Resource Center for another week, animal control officials said.

A pit bull puppy that was also at the house where the boy was attacked, but not thought to have bitten the boy, is also being held in quarantine.

While listed as pit bulls, Animal Resource Center Director Amber Adams said she believes the dogs are pit bull mixes.

No one cares, Amber.

The attack happened at about 7:30 p.m. July 1 in the 2400 block of 13th Avenue North in Texas City. The boy - who police said is either 6- or 7-years-old was in critical condition when taken by air ambulance to Memorial Hermann hospital's trauma center in Houston.

His parents at first drove the injured boy to Mainland Medical Center where emergency center doctors determined the injuries were so severe the boy needed to be treated at a trauma center.

An update on his condition was unavailable Monday (7-3-2017) from authorities. Federal laws restrict what medical information can be provided to law enforcement authorities by hospitals.

The boy was attacked while his family unpacked after having just moved to Texas City. The dogs were in kennels in the backyard of the house when the boy reportedly went outside and let them out, police Sgt. Kenneth Brown said.

When the dogs got out, they attacked the boy. It's uncertain if the attack was immediate of if the boy did something that could have provoked the mauling.

Scott Packard, a spokesman for the Galveston County Health District-managed animal shelter, said the dogs - a brown and white adult male, brown and white adult female and a blue and white female puppy - are under a mandatory 10-day rabies quarantine.

The quarantine is required for any animal involved in an attack on a person.

Barring intervention from law enforcement or some court order, the family can request the animals be returned at the end of the quarantine, Packard said.

While police are investigating the attack, Brown said it appears that the family did nothing wrong - under the law.

"They took the responsible action and secured the dogs and the boy wandered out and let them out of (the kennels)," Brown said. "From our perspective there's nothing criminal about what happened."

Packard said that so far the dogs have shown no signs of rabies. If the dogs had displayed rabies signs they animals would be put down and a rabies test conducted.

While the family can request the animals be returned at the end of the quarantine the dogs would be classified as "dangerous dogs."

During the quarantine period the family could elect to give up the dogs. At which point the dogs would be euthanized, Packard said.

For those who say it's how you raise them, it seems
they've had these Pit Bulls since they were puppies. So
why did their beloved pets try to kill them all?

Texas: Six-year-old boy mauled by his own family's Pit Bulls

TEXAS -- A young boy was hospitalized Saturday after being attacked by two dogs in his backyard.

Officials said the boy and his family had just moved into their home in the 2400 block of 13th Avenue and placed their three dogs in kennels while they unpacked.

The boy who officials said is at least 6-years-old, opened the kennels and two of the dogs attacked him.

The two dogs which mauled him was a male, intact red and white Pit Bull and a female red and white Pit Bull. The third dog inside the kennel was a gray Pit Bull puppy which was not involved.

Hmm, intact male Pit Bull. Adult female Pit Bull. Pit Bull puppy. Were they breeding them???

Officials said the child was taken to Mainland Hospital and then flown to another hospital, where he is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

The dogs are now in the custody of animal control.

It appears the Pit Bulls aren't even a year old yet.

And of course anyone's comments about pit bulls mauling pets or biting children elicit responses from the apologists like Elle Robins who says 'prayers for Buddy' but then immediately begins discussing what her real goal is -- to insist that pit bulls are great, that she's had pit bulls without any issues. She tells us the story of a vicious Shih Tzu mauling children, how "it was Shepherds then Dobermans then Rottweilers" that were 'villiainized' like pit bulls are now. She includes the obligatory pit bull with baby photo to show that HER dog is different, that we should 'blame the deed and not the breed'. The only thing she didn't regurgitate is the whole 'nanny dog' myth.

York woman recovering from pit bull attack

PENNSYLVANIA -- “I thought when he started biting me he would stop,” says York resident Bonnie Cole.

She’s talking about one of the three pit bulls that attacked her on Friday. The dogs did not stop. She is now left with missing chunks of flesh, torn tendons and fear.

“At this point, the only thing I can say, I’m afraid to come home,” Cole said. “If the dogs are still there, I don’t want to go home.”

Cole was mowing her front lawn at her home on Lincoln Street when a 9-month-old pit bull chewed through a fence and after, that’s when the three dogs escaped the backyard.

Cole is now being treated for her injuries at Wellspan Rehab.

“It should never really have happened,” says her son, Justin Cole. “People should be responsible for their animals.”

The dogs’ owners have three kids and they said that the dogs were never violent before. According to the owners, the 9-month-old pit bull was the one biting Cole, but witnesses say that all three were on her.

The attack ended when a man who Cole does not know came to her aid, but his bravery brings tears to her eyes. “He put his arm around me and then the neighbor lady she came out, and she held onto me too,” Cole said.

The pain is severe to the point where Cole is unable to walk, and surgery was needed for the tendons in her right arm.

Cole will need rehab to be able to walk again, and the owners said that the three dogs will be put down.

Texas: Pair of eight-month-old pit bull puppies maul girl, 15, inflicting more than 100 wounds

TEXAS -- A pair of pit bull puppies turned on their teenage caretaker in northeast Harris County this week, leaving a 15-year-old girl with more than 100 puncture wounds after a merciless attack.

Kasandra Benavides was feeding the two 8-month-old dogs in her backyard, when her pets suddenly lunged and pinned her to the ground, as detailed by KHOU Ch. 11.

The puppies, which she raised since they were four weeks old, tore into her legs as she struggled to free herself.

After family members finally managed to pull the dogs away, Benavides was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital with bite wounds covering one leg and a number of slashes on the other.

Doctors expect a lengthy recovery before the girl can return to her feet.

TEEN'S FATHER SAYS PITS HAD NEVER SHOWN SIGNS OF AGGRESSION, BUT NEIGHBORS SAY THEY'D ALREADY SHOWN KILLER INSTINCT

Benavides' father tells reporters the dogs never had shown any signs of aggression... However, one nearby resident disagrees.

“Those two dogs killed the neighbor’s dog,” says an anonymous women, describing another recent attack that left one area shih tzu dead.

“We were all startled, and I was concerned for the safety our children."

Harris County's Veterinary Public Heath Department, has taken custody of the dogs, both of which have been placed in quarantine.

Long road to recovery for child attacked by dog

NORTH CAROLINA -- It has been one month since a pit bull dog attacked a Sampson County child.
Three-year-old Will Baggett spends a lot of time in Fayetteville seeing doctors and plastic surgeons.

The physical healing process is coming along remarkably, but his scarred face, neck, and legs are still a reminder of the traumatic day.

While in the care of a family member, Baggett was attacked by the sitter's boyfriend's dog. The family member fought to keep the dog off the child and deputies tried to shoot it, but the dog got away. It was later sent to an animal shelter.

Baggett's mother said emotionally he is still traumatized and suffers from nightmares of the attack. She describes his behavior as often skittish, especially around animals.

"He's afraid of dogs. He keeps saying, 'I'm not a toy. That dog bite me'," mom Ginger Baggett said.
In addition to the psychological scars, the family has more than $70,000 left in medical bills. The child should be ready for cosmetic surgery in the next six months. He may get laser surgery or saline stretch, where skin is taken from his back to help patch scars. Either way, most of his scars will always be there.

"I wish I'd just taken him with me to the grocery store. I just miss his little dimple," mother Ginger Baggett said."I asked the plastic surgeon, 'Can we get that back?' and she said, 'I don't know.'"

She also said she is having trouble finding a local psychologist to see a 3 year old.

The dog in the attack was euthanized less than two weeks ago, which was the owner's decision. The Sampson County Sheriff's Office had labeled the dog as dangerous.

In Sampson County, if a dog labeled as dangerous is not inside, it would have to be leashed wherever it goes. If the dog was kept in the backyard, the fence would have to be secure so that neither the dog or someone other than the owner could get in.
