TURKEY -- A stray dog left for dead after being covered in glue and dragged through mud is now unrecognisable after making an astonishing recovery.
Heartbreaking footage showed the pooch, Pascal, looking terrified and in pain following the sickening act of violence at the hands of cruel kids.
The poor mongrel could hardly move and looked to be already dead after enduring the terrible abuse which caused rigor mortis to begin to set in.
Luckily, he was found near an industrial estate in Istanbul, Turkey, and is slowly being nursed back to health by the charity He'Art of Rescue.
The unkind kids had covered him in so much of the industrial glue that it acted like cement, causing one of his ears to become necrotic because it was starved of blood.
But less than a month after being rescued, Pascal is making an amazing recovery.
Not only is he completely unrecognisable, he has also made pals with another pupy.
Despite being tormented by children, he seems relatively calm around the vets who are caring for him.
He was found to be suffering from Parvo, but has beaten the viral infection after several weeks of treatment.
Nur Rima Yola, founder of He'Art of Rescue, said: "Pascal was in a miserable state when I first saw him inside that box.
"He was not moving, he had frozen, and he was very scared and traumatised.
"After the glue had been removed, he stood in shock for one day. He even turned his back to hide when he saw people.
"He is doing better, slowly getting used to the staff in the clinic where of course he is being given lots of love and care."
While many would have written Pascal off, medical staff at He'Art of Rescue are dedicating their time to helping the pooch recover before finding him a new home.
The malnourished mutt has already picked up admirers from around the world, with millions of people viewing videos of him online.
He'Art of Rescue, which specialises in rescuing cats and dogs found in awful conditions, is appealing for help as they rehabilitate Pascal and other animals.
Rima said: "We know his soul will mend in time and the adoptive family will play a major role in this. Our medical team is doing everything for him."

Virginia: Brandon Gillie wanted for torturing, mutilating, killing puppies
VIRGINIA -- It was last spring when Petersburg Police were called to Trailer 32 at the Shady Grove mobile home park on North Steadman Road.
They found a gruesome scene where three puppies had been mutilated, tortured and killed.
They are now reaching out to the public in an attempt to put the man they say is responsible, Brandon Gillie, 26, behind bars.
"[Gillie and his girlfriend] had just gotten the puppies a few weeks prior," said Detective Thomas Ewers with the Petersburg Police Department.
“He forced them to swallow several items, including firecrackers and poison,” Detective Ewers said.
But the torture didn’t stop there, police say. While the puppies were still alive, Gillie dismembered and mutilated the dogs. It all happened in the back yard of a now abandoned trailer.
“He cut their bodies open, and when he cut their bodies open, he also tried to glue it back together,” Ewers said. “He put glue over the dogs’ faces, including their muzzle, I guess in an attempt keep the dogs from being loud or trying to suffocate them.”
"It was a process, we're not talking about a couple minutes of torturing, we're talking about hours and hours of him methodically torturing and killing these animals," said Ewers.
Brandon's girlfriend discovered what he had done and called the police to report it. However, she is no longer cooperating with authorities, police said, and Gillie remains on the run.
“This is probably the worse case I’ve seen or heard of since I’ve been a detective,” Detective Ewers said.
Gillie’s next door neighbor recalls hearing Gillie sitting outside talking during the night in question, but she had no idea what he was actually doing.
NECROPSY RESULTS
Court documents obtained by CBS 6 show the dogs had an adhesive material on their muzzles and bodies.
Lab results revealed the dog's stomachs contained both over the counter and prescription medications, as well as insecticide.
Conover said that what happened to the puppies was done over a period of time.
"They were tortured, there was evidence of burning," she added.
The necropsy also revealed that two of the puppies had full firecrackers in their stomach.
HELP FIND BRANDON GILLIE
Police say they need the public’s help catching Gillie before he has the chance to do something like this again.
“It could lead to other crimes that could be worse. It could be to other animals, it could be to a person – you just never know, and it’s very concerning,” Ewers said.
Gillie has a large network of family and friends spread out around Chesterfield and Henrico.
"He still could be in the Tri-Cities area, most likely he's up in the Hanover and Ashland area," said Ewers.
Police are hoping someone has information that will help get Brandon Gillie off the streets.
"To get him help and make sure that he is okay and nothing like this happens to any animal or person."
Places Gillie has lived:
Prince George, Virginia
Petersburg, Virginia
Henrico, Virginia
Chester, Virginia
Hopewell, Virginia
Says he works at powerplants "all over the state"

Virginia: Portsmouth Animal Control Officer uses butter to save tiny snake’s life
VIRGINIA -- A Portsmouth Animal Control Officer’s quick thinking helped save the life of a small snake.
On October 24, Animal Control Officer Quintana was called to the 6200 block of Centenary Drive after the little snake was caught in a glue trap inside a home.
When Officer Quintana arrived, she realized the snake was still alive.
She quickly took the snake back to her office and used butter to free the snake from the glue trap, saving the animal’s life.
“As you can see from the pictures, the snake was really stuck on the trap and was extremely happy once he was freed by these diligent Animal Control Officers,” Portsmouth Police said in an Instagram post.
The snake was returned to the outdoors on Tuesday.

Hawaii: Petco employee allegedly cuts off dogs ear, glues it back on
HAWAII -- Two Oahu women have filed a lawsuit against Petco, claiming their dogs had parts of their bodies cut off while being groomed at the Kaneohe store.
Three-year-old Gilzale and Pomeranian-Maltese mix Dodo are the best of friends. The little girl was crushed when the dog was injured.
Her grandmother, Gladys Kapuwai, says she took Dodo to Petco in Kaneohe for grooming last July and, a couple of days later, realized one of her ears had been cut.
"Was dried, bloody, was dry blood, everything," Kapuwai said. "I noticed that at home, so when I took her to the vet, the doctor had told me it looked like they tried to glue it back."
The lawsuit alleges that Petco attempted to reattach, glue or sew the ear back on, and failed to disclose what happened when Kapuwai picked the dog up.
"I couldn't believe what they did," Kapuwai said. "I started crying because this is our baby, too, you know."
The civil complaint alleges that a similar incident happened with Attorney Michael Green's pet. Green's wife is also listed as a plaintiff.
"The nails are bleeding because they were cut too short, the dog was filthy and the tip of the dog's tail was cut off," Green said. "They didn't seem, the people at Petco didn't seem overly concerned about that."
He says the pet store chain's negligence caused serious emotional distress.
"My dog, they offered another free grooming," Green said. "I guess they wanted to take off other body parts."
Petco Kaneohe referred us to its local public relations representative, who did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
Kapuwai hopes the lawsuit will lead to more training for the pet stylists. She says the staff should have come clean about Dodo's injury sooner.
"Even the doctor said they could have saved her ear if they told me right there, but they didn't," Kapuwai said.
