United Kingdom: Owners run off with their Pit Bull and Mastiff mix after it mauls man and his pet Border Collie

UNITED KINGDOM -- Police are investigating after a horrified pet owner fought off two dogs to protect his beloved pet in a vicious attack.

John Purcell, who is still at home recovering from his injuries days after the attack, says Daisy is lucky to be alive after she was mauled by a Staffordshire pit bull terrier and a Mastiff cross on the Warwickshire Moors.

The service engineer rushed to the aid of the six-year-old Border Collie as he wrestled the dogs off her and took her to safety.

The dog needed stitches after her chest was ripped open by the monkey bridge in Bolehall, near Tamworth.

John said: “It was horrific. If my partner Lettie had been walking Daisy she would never have been able to fight them off. I feel like I have been in a punch up. My fist is swollen and I am bruised and stuff and aching all over. Daisy is really subdued now. She is not her normal self.

“There could have been kids around, it really does make you worry. Who knows what those dogs could be doing right now.”

Recalling the moment it happened, John, 51, from Bolehall, said he was walking down to the bottom of Moor Lane on to the fields and the railway bridge.

“It was flooded so I went up to Bolehall Swifts and on to the bridge instead,” he revealed.

“Daisy was off her lead like she normally is as she is a good dog and always comes back.

“As we came off the bridge out of nowhere to the right I saw these two beasts coming towards her. The two owners were obviously caught off the hop and unaware and the dogs started attacking Daisy.

“I was rolling around on the floor holding on to Daisy and trying to fight them off. They ripped her belly open and were biting her chest.

“I just had to protect my dog. I knew that if they rolled her over on to her front they would have probably killed her.

“I managed to get Daisy behind the bushes and out of sight and I calmed her down after about three or four minutes. I looked back and the two owners were running off. By the time I got back they had completely disappeared.

“I rushed back home in a panic after warning friends that I walked past. Daisy was in a right state so Lettie took her to the vets and I went straight on the phone to the police.”

Partner Lettie Woodward added: “It was a deep wound. The vet told me that she might need a drain and that she was very lucky it wasn’t her neck. She had stitches in her chest.

“The photos show no perspective in relation to size. The wound is about 17 cm long and the puncture wound is about 1 cm.

“It could have been a lot worse. It was just lucky I hadn’t been walking her that day like I usually do. If they had gone for her throat or there wasn’t a strong man there to hold them off she wouldn’t have stood a chance.

“We ask people to be vigilant especially over Warwickshire Moors as we feel until the police find those responsible it is only a matter of time until these dogs attack again.”

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police confirmed that an investigation is underway.

He said: “We were called to reports of a dog being attacked by two other dogs at around 12pm on December 28, 2017 in Moor Lane, Bolehall.

“The dogs that attacked were described as a white and tan colored large Staffordshire pit bull terrier and a white with black and brown patches Mastiff cross.

“No arrests have been made and we are continuing to investigate the incident with the assistance of the victim.

“If you know anything about this incident, please call 101 quoting incident number 243 of 28 December or, for guaranteed anonymity, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

United Kingdom: Elderly woman suffers horror injuries after being mauled by raging "black and white Collie" while waiting at a bus stop

UNITED KINGDOM -- Anne Kelly, 72, was attacked near her home in Hildenborough, Kent, after being approached by a woman walking three dogs.

The pensioner was in hospital for two days after suffering a sickening gash to her arm and needing a skin graft to help heal her wound.

She told Sun Online: "It all happened in a split second, its teeth were embedded in my arm and she had to pull it off. I was in agony.

"She just walked off with the dogs which I think is disgusting. There's a school nearby and it could have been a child but she couldn't have cared less.

"It was only when I got back home and took off my coat when I realized there was blood everywhere. I was so shocked and all over the place and my daughter had to take me to hospital.

"The dog should be put down and I wanted this woman to be caught before it strikes again."

Kent Police is now investigating the incident, which took place at around 1pm on Monday, and appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 1.20pm on November 20, 2017 to reports a person had been injured after being bitten by a dog in Hildenborough.

"A woman was walking along a footpath off Ashley Road when a dog described as a black and white collie is said to have bitten her, leaving her with serious injuries to her arm.

Black and white collie.. do they mean a Border Collie?

"It is reported the person walking the dog, which was on a lead, left the scene after the victim called out to them."

Indiana: Little Border Collie mix was attacked by a pit bull at dog park

INDIANA -- Mandy Collier‎ posted on Facebook to Our Pets Were Attacked By Pit Bulls - BSL NOW on October 4, 2017 · Indianapolis, IN ·

Atticus❤️ Sleeping with Daddy.

Our precious little Border Collie mix was attacked by the dog park when an owner couldn't control his pit bull and it drug him several feet where it jumped and latched onto Atticus while his back was turned. 3 cm diameter tear on his rump and nothing more thank God.

Even worse though, the owner accused us of being extra harsh on him because it was a pit bull. Well Buddy I'm being harsh because I have an injured dog and a huge Hospital bill. NOTHING WAS DONE!

SOME COMMENTS

Diana Kassir - PLEASE go after the owner and make him pay in full. I sued the Pit owner that 'did' my sweet girl. I got notarized statements from the vets, any witnesses, TAKE PHOTOS, etc. Report to any authorities you can find. I didn't use a lawyer, and I did get my $6,000.00 in vet bills back. I also got a 'muzzle order' on the Pit.

Mahli Poole - Awesome!

Rebecca Edwards - The problem lies with the owners. They are in denial and accept no responsility for their dog's actions and their lack of inaction, somehow making themselves the victims. The breed is unpredictable and should not be allowed in dog parks, or places where people with dogs gather.... or the elderly, or children.

Mandy Collier - The dog park was our apartment dog park. Usually never anyone in it except the regulars and we kinda know each other's schedules. This man came from a house division behind the apartment complex so he WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE THERE!!! The office helped us by putting signs up as well as contacting the owners Home Owners Association

We are disappointed to have to give this announcement, however there are things to learn here.

On Friday, September 1, our baby boy Atticus was attacked by another dog while Alex was leaving the dog park. Atticus weighs about 55 pounds and was attacked by a dog twice his size and weight. Alex was able to safely remove Atticus from the dog's jaws and was luckily not hurt. Atticus was then taken to Airport Animal Emergi-Center, and were told the laceration was deep and almost 4 centimeters in diameter. He was sedated and stitched. He wasn't severely injured and healed well, thank God, however, the medical bill was nothing but small.

Even though we were distressed about Atticus and this incident, we believed in trying to handle the problem amicably. We did call Indianapolis Animal Control and reported it, and they were willing to let us talk to the owner first. Being the protective and fierce mama I am, I was able to track the owners residence in a neighboring complex, and we left a copy of the vet bill and a note saying that we would like to handle this amicably and to give us a call as soon as he could.

The owner called us a few days later saying he was out of town and it was his roommate that was walking the dog and he was extremely sorry about it and he would happily compensate us for the emergency visit bill.

Almost a week of stalling followed by several days of no contact, we decided to let Animal Control do their thing. We don't have much information now but we will update everyone about the status of the investigation as we will be receiving an update as things progress.

There's a few things we'd like to warn people about to make sure an incident as this can be addressed less stressfully:

* Find a 24 hour pet emergency hospital/center near you and put their number in your phone. This will save time on feeling rushed and trying to find something and scrambling for the address while trying to care for your baby and get them loaded up into the vehicle. This way, you have the number and address ahead of time and you can call once on your way.

* Apply for Care Credit and have that medical credit for pet visits when you do have an emergency and you are short on cash as it gets EXPENSIVE FAST!

* If it involves an attack by another animal CONTACT ANIMAL CONTROL ASAP! This is also something to go ahead and place in your phone. If the previous steps are followed and covered, this is the call you can make while on your way to the emergency veterinarian.

These situations will never be easy breezy, Whether it's an illness, prolonged or sudden, an animal attack, or other injury. However having these steps in place can insure a quick and speedy response time to help save your pet and help ease your mind!

We will also demand justice for this so it never happens to anyone else, especially a smaller dog or child. Again we will keep people updated on the status of the investigation.

Louisiana: Back in January, Brandon Barthe was fleeing police and drove through a park. Two shelter dogs being walked were hit and run over

LOUISIANA -- [From January] Two dogs were fighting for their lives in intensive veterinary care Tuesday after a wild chase involving Gretna police officers Monday afternoon ended with a burglary suspect running over the dogs in Coliseum Square in the Lower Garden District.

“They were able to dive for the bushes, but they couldn’t get the dogs out of the way,” she said.

Jojo’s hip was dislocated. Breezy suffered several broken bones. “You can see track marks on the abdomen,” Bell said.

But it wasn’t just dogs whose lives were at risk. Bell said parents were grabbing students out of the way as the youngsters were leaving the nearby International School of Louisiana.

North Carolina: Owner still hiding vicious Pit Bulls; police apparently not doing anything about it

NORTH CAROLINA -- Cumberland County Animal Services is releasing images of two of the three pit bulls that savagely attacked one woman's dog.

The owner of the pit bulls took off shortly after the attack and now there's a search to get the dogs off the streets.

Animal Control says two of the three dogs - "Black Girl" and "Jordan" are still with their owner, who is not cooperating with the investigating. Last month, Carmen Del Toro said three dogs jumped three fences to get to her dog, Chase, in her back yard.

Today, Chase is happy to be home after spending days at the veterinary hospital. He still has one large puncture wound that's healing, but overall, his owner says he's in good spirits and still as playful as ever.

She, on the other hand, is still unnerved by last month's attack.

Del Toro told ABC11 she doesn't want to see the dogs be euthanized, but she wants her peace of mind back.

"It still scares me. I don't know when to go outside. I don't know if they're going to bring him at a time that no one sees that they're there," she said. "I might be outside with Chase or cutting the grass or cooking on the grill or something. I don't know when those dogs are going to be back."

Oh OK. She doesn't want them euthanized. What the heck are we supposed to do with them? She thinks someone will magically train away the viciousness so they can be rehabilitated. Give me a break. She is delusional.

Cumberland County Animal Services said the three dogs are considered dangerous and shouldn't be approached.

If you spot them, you're asked to contact Animal Control Services at (910) 321-6852.

North Carolina: Man accused of hiding 3 pit bulls that attacked neighbor's dog in its own fenced yard

NORTH CAROLINA -- Three pit bulls accused of mauling a Fayetteville woman’s dog are still missing 10 days after the attack.

The dog is recovering at home, but his owner fears the pit bulls are a major threat to others.

Carme DelToro said three pit bulls jumped over three low-rise fences and clamped their jaws onto her 2-year-old Border collie mix, Chase, at her home along Winthrop Drive in the Eureka Springs neighborhood.

“In ten minutes, they almost destroyed this animal,” she said.

DelToro had let Chase out into the backyard while she drove her granddaughter to band practice. Then she heard a howl.

“I just saw him screaming and all I could do was turn on the water and try to hose them down and see if they would let him go,” she said.

DelToro’s screams summoned the dogs’ owner, who lives across the street. She said the owner keeps the pit bulls on the lot he owns, which is behind her backyard.

DelToro said he pried the dogs off and that she has not seen the animals in the week and a half following the incident.

“Most likely they are in hiding. They’re just hiding them,” she said.

Cumberland County Animal Control Director John Lauby agreed with DelToro. He spoke to WRAL News via phone and said the owner is likely hiding the pit bulls. Lauby said he needs to find the dogs, so DelToro can identify them, before anybody can be charged in connection with the attack.

Lauby said Animal Control officers are patrolling the area at least three times daily.

DelToro said the pit bulls have jumped the fences before, and nearly attacked her. She fears that a child could be the next victim.

“It could have been my granddaughter out here playing with this dog or in the pool coming out and she would have defended this dog as much as I would,” she said. “She could have gotten hurt, mauled by those dogs.”

Chase was required to spend eight days in the animal hospital following the attack, but has since returned home.

“He’s doing better. He’s still go to heal from his wounds- they are deep. It’ll be a while before he does heal from his wounds, little by little,” DelToro said.

If the pit bulls are found, Lauby said Animal Control would keep them at the shelter until their owner proves the dogs can be contained.

WRAL News attempted to speak with the owner of the pit bulls, but a woman at the house refused to speak.

Georgia: Why did Brianna Bennett and Samuel Boyd have A NEARLY DEAD CAT SHOVED INSIDE A BACKPACK ON THE FRONT SEAT OF THEIR CAR while they were inside Walmart for 90 minutes???

GEORGIA -- Duluth Police arrested two people accused of leaving three animals locked inside a hot car in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Brianna Bennett and Samuel Boyd are charged with three counts of cruelty to animals. They are being held at the Gwinnett County Jail.

Officers rescued the animals Saturday after they found two dogs and a cat inside the car, where temperatures had climbed to 111 degrees.

"Our officer was patrolling the area when he noticed a dog lingering," Officer Julian Lee-Foon said. "The dog then staggered over to a parked car. That's when the officer saw the white husky mix trapped inside.

"We think the pup that got the officer's attention managed to get out of the car by squeezing through the slightly cracked window."

"They CLAIMED that they were only inside for 15-20 minutes, but we checked surveillance video and it proved otherwise," Lee-Foon said.

Authorities told FOX 5, Bennett and her boyfriend were inside the Wal-Mart for at least an hour and a half.

Foon was one of the responding officers. He used his tactical helmet as a water bowl to help the dogs.

"I knew a water bottle wouldn't be enough," Lee-Foon said.

Foon said another shocking discovery was made when another noticed a backpack in the front seat moving.

"The officer opened it up, and there was a cat inside," Lee-Foon said. "The cat was on the brink of death."

The animals were transported to Gwinnett Animal Shelter.

Amazingly, all three animals survived.

"This was the worst we had ever seen," Officer Julian Lee-Foon said. "We are just glad the animals are okay and the suspects are behind bars.
