Kentucky: Jaron Lockridge, 28, accused of using insecticide to torture and kill various pets

KENTUCKY -- An Elizabethtown man is facing Misdemeanor charges after police say he used bug killer and a belt to torture various pets.

According to an arrest warrant, the incidents took place between April 1 and Sept. 25 in Hardin County.

Police say that in April, a woman saw 28-year-old Jaron Lockridge spray Spectacide Bug Stop bug killer on the dog food provided to his roommate's German Shepherd.

As a result of eating the food, police say the dog became very sick and continued to vomit. The dog eventually lost 20 pounds, and as of October, was still struggling to eat.

In June, police say Lockridge took a small red belt out of a woman's dress, wrapped it around the neck of one of his roommate's cats and lifted the cat off the ground, choking it for about 30 seconds.

Lockridge was allegedly, "laughing the entire time he was committing this act."

Lockridge's alleged crimes didn't end there. In September, police say he got mad at his roommate, and sprayed Spectacide Bug Stop bug killer into his roommate's fish tank.

Police say he shot "three big squirts" of the bug killer into the tank. As a result, nine small white fish, two mini fresh-water lobsters and one eel were poisoned to death.

A warrant was issued for Lockridge's arrest on Oct. 12. He was taken into custody Sunday afternoon.

He's charged with second degree cruelty to animals and torturing a dog or cat.

Lockridge is currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.

I hope Child Protective Services is doing an investigation as Jaron's actions clearly mark him as a deviant with mental health issues. Also, the judge should order that he not be around ANY animals until a disposition in court regarding these cruelty charges.

Jaron and Rachel Lockridge of Bardstown announce the birth of a daughter, Emma Lee Lockridge on April 24, 2009, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 ¼ inches long.

A website called topix has a thread running in which someone claiming to be Jaron Lockridge posted:

Jaron, Elizabethtown KY: Well well well I should have known my name would have came up on here. And truth be told it's all lies. The real animal abuser is the owner who beats his dog for using the bathroom in the house. Also never cleans the cat box but once a month. I have never in my life have gotten in trouble for anything other than speeding. It's funny how news papers and media changes everything around. Also I have adopted a few animals in my days. In addition, I have raised chickens and ducks from eggs. I bet any of you true low life's could even think of running a farm as well. Truth is justice will show I'm not guilty of any charges. Thanks for the support

You all are losing it over fish wtf. The dog is 100% fine nothing happened to the dog. While kill shelters kill thousands of animals each year. We drain the ocean of all living creatures at an astonishing rate yet no one bats a eye. Everyone so fast to be the judge and jury over something you know nothing about.

Australia: Renters with a child lived in squalor, destroyed home, killed their pet fish and turtle and then ran off

AUSTRALIA -- The rancid odor of the home carried through to the street – but even that wasn't enough warning for a landlord who has been 'gutted' by the state of a home he rented out to a couple who were 'down on their luck'.

Theo Iliou from Darwin has described his heartache as he opened the door to the home he and his wife Monica bought as an investment for their six children.

'I only got as far as the dining area, and wasn't brave enough to look any further,' Mr Iliou told Daily Mail Australia.

The landlord knew there would be some cleaning up to do because the yard was overgrown but he wasn't expecting animal faeces all over the floor or mountains of garbage lining the walls.

'We went there with a bin to tidy the yard but because we hadn't even opened the house yet and were getting a nasty smell I knew the inside of the house would be worse. I peeked through the windows but because I could only see limited areas I wasn't prepared.'

It was an assault on his senses.

'Honestly when I was in there my main concern was for my health and not the house – I didn't feel safe walking into that environment.

He only knows what most of the house looked like because of pictures taken by a cleaner.

Inside one of the bedrooms was a large fish tank – when the lid was opened it was obvious there was something dead inside.

Further inspection revealed rotting fish and a dead turtle in the thick stagnant water.

Mr Iliou thought at first the damage had been caused as an act of vandalism after he evicted the couple – and their young child with six week notice because they were continuously falling behind on the rent.

But then he found evidence the family just lived in squalor.

'There was a Christmas tree in one of the piles of rubbish that had been there since December last year. The most heart-breaking thing was coming across kids toys and Dvds because it was a constant reminder that there was a child living in the house.'

The home was being rented out for $650 per week when the tenants moved in two years ago.

Which the Iliou family thought they would have no trouble affording as the male tenant was earning $75,000 per year as a head chef and his wife was also employed. But when they fell behind in rent and told the Iliou family they were going through a hard time it was reduced by one hundred dollars.

It was further reduced by another hundred dollars when they had more difficulties.

Mrs Iliou is devastated that the couple who they took a chance on repaid them by leaving their home in such a huge mess.

'When my husband go to the house he called me and told me not to come,' she said. 'But I did and I thought I would have a quick look.

'I could smell it before I got there it was like the smell of a rubbish bin that had been left in the sun for a week. I went inside the house for about 30 seconds and then I had to leave to throw up.'

'There was a rabbit cage inside the house, and different droppings everywhere. They had dogs inside and there was hair over everything.'

It took five skip bins to clean up the property.

'We tried to cut the grass outside with a slasher but it kept getting caught so we had to bring in a back hoe. The whole yard is dirt now.'

It took the cleaners two days to get rid of the putrid mess left behind.

'I would have done it myself if I didn't have so many kids to look after. But it would have taken me weeks and I would have had to keep stopping to throw up – I don't know how they did it.'

The family have not heard from their past tenants – but left a message with the real-estate agents – which had been employed to evict them – apologising for the mess.

'Sorry about the state of house never got around to cleaning it,' the message read.

The Iliou family were forced to remove a toilet as well as the oven and stove because it was so filthy.

The stove had maggots on it and the toilet was deemed too dirty and blocked to deal with.

The family have already spent $5,000 on cleaning up the mess and were owed more than $10,000 in rent.

Texas: Trial underway for Brent Justice, accused of creating horrific videos showing animals tortured to death

TEXAS -- The trial for a man accused of torturing and killing a puppy began Monday in Harris County.

Brent Justice and Ashley Richards were charged in 2012 with animal cruelty after they allegedly used a meat cleaver to cut off a pit bull puppy’s tail, slice its leg and slash its neck. The puppy died as a result.

Brent Justice

The gruesome death was reportedly videotaped and posted online to make money. Investigators said the videos are called crush videos. Crush videos show an animal being tortured, often crushed, to satisfy the viewer’s sexual appetite.

Justice and Richards created as many as 27 'crush' videos between February 2010 and August 2012 and was eventually stopped after PETA discovered the footage and alerted the authorities.

After her arrest in 2012, prosecutors said Richards tortured a puppy, kittens, a rabbit, mice, a pigeon, fish, lobsters and crabs using high heeled shoes, a meat cleaver, knives, screwdrivers and pliers.

She allegedly killed a cat by slitting its throat and stomping its eye with her shoe heel.

Richards pleaded guilty to creating the video at the federal level and has a sentencing trial set for Feb. 25.

She also pleaded guilty to the animal cruelty charge and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Justice is acting as his own attorney in the Harris County trial.

Former Radford pet store owner, Alexander Nelson, ordered to give up his animals

VIRGINIA -- A former Radford pet store owner has been forced to give up his animals.

On Monday, a Pulaski County Circuit Court judge ordered Alexander Nelson IV to sign over custody of a number of dogs and a hamster.

Nelson was charged in 2014 with 43 counts of animal cruelty. He was once the owner of Classy Critters in Radford, a pet store that is no longer in operation.

According to Angels of Assisi, when animal control arrived at his property in April, they found 32 under-socialized dogs living in inhumane conditions.

The dogs, which are keeshond and husky mixes, were taken into the care of Angels of Assisi on April 25 and have been receiving routine medical treatment and extensive rehabilitation. Angels of Assisi says volunteers have been working to socialize the dogs and most of them are ready for foster care and adoption.

Former Radford pet shop owner guilty of animal cruelty

VIRGINA -- The owner of a former pet shop in the city was found guilty of 15 counts of animal cruelty Thursday in General District Court.

Alexander Montgomery Nelson IV, of Roanoke, was sentenced to pay $1,500 in fines and was barred from selling or possessing any animals by General District Judge H. Lee Harrell. Nelson will cease operation of Classy Critters, formerly located at 1031 E. Main St. He was also sentenced to 15 jail sentences of 180 days, all of which were suspended.

In June, Radford police and animal control responded to a complaint of a foul odor coming from inside the pet shop, according to a city news release.

Authorities then obtained a search warrant based on the odor and condition of the animals in view.

Police seized three dogs, two turtles, one bearded dragon, one leopard gecko, one fat-tailed gecko and numerous fish. They also found deceased animals including multiple rodents and fish.

Nelson originally faced a total of 43 charges, including the 15 animal cruelty counts, 15 counts of failure of a dealer or pet store to provide adequate care, five counts of improper disposal of a deceased animal, three counts of not providing rabies shots for dogs, three counts of not having a license for dogs and two counts of dogs running at large, according to the release.

Today, Nelson faces a hearing on restitution for the state’s time and effort in caring for his animals after they were seized from him in June, Radford Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jason Annis said.

In 2009, Nelson was charged with 200 misdemeanor counts of improperly disposing of a dead animal in Pulaski County General District Court for leaving hundreds of dead rats to decompose on his property near Snowville.

A judge ordered Nelson to clean them up within a month, then changed his mind in October of that year after an official with the Department of Environmental Quality told police it would be best not to disturb the rats. Nelson was then ordered to let the rats decompose on-site and not dump any more, according to Roanoke Times records. The charges were dismissed in 2010, according to Roanoke Times records.

Ugly skanks who tortured and killed animals in horrific porn videos will escape prosecution because the statute of limitations has expired

FLORIDA -- A pair of fetish models who allegedly filmed sex scenes featuring them torturing fish, bunnies, and chickens may never see a day in court because the statute of limitations has expired.

Sara Zamora, 28, and Stephanie Hird, 29, performed in the sickening videos roughly a decade ago. A wait that prosecutors say has left them helpless.

The pair were arrested in April after PETA found the online sex scenes, but prosecutors never filed the felony animal cruelty charges they would have otherwise faced.

Under Miami-Dade County's state attorney the statute of limitations has already expired.

Outside their Thursday court appearance in which the women were set free, Zamora said they were actually victims.

'We were 18 years old and we were manipulated into a situation that we, unfortunately, cannot take back,' she told reporters for Local 10.

Zamora and Hird blamed Adam Redford, a South Florida boat captain who they say made the videos for fetish site 'SOS Barn.'

Zamora pleasured one man while karate chopping bunnies and slitting a chicken's neck with hedge clippers in one video.

In another Hird crushed live fish with her bare hands, abused rabbits, shot rats, and set a pile of vermin ablaze all while wearing a revealing outfit, the Miami Herald reports.

After their arrest, it was reported Zamora faced eight felony charges and Hird five.

'We were manipulated and convinced that these things were alright,' Zamora said. 'And unfortunately they were very wrong and now we have to pay the consequences, even if it was 10 years ago.'

Hird added: 'The truth always comes out. I wasn’t guilty from the get-go. Those were other models.'

Redford, who is listed as a co-defendant in the case, has not been arrested.

'If you're out there Adam Redford, I hope you get everything you deserve,' Zamora told reporters.

As for those who still believe she's tortured and killed animals, Zamora had a message for them.

'They can all go to hell.'

Monster sentenced to 10 years in prison for torturing animals to death in sexually perverted videos

TEXAS -- A 23-year-old woman has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars for torturing dogs and cats to death to make videos for people who found the sick treatment sexually arousing.

Ashley Nichole Richards pleaded guilty to three counts of animal cruelty in Houston, Texas, Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson announced on Thursday morning.

She created as many as 27 'crush' videos between February 2010 and August 2012 and was eventually stopped after PETA discovered the footage and alerted the authorities.

After her arrest in 2012, prosecutors said she tortured a puppy, kittens, a rabbit, mice, a pigeon, fish, lobsters and crabs using high heeled shoes, a meat cleaver, knives, screwdrivers and pliers.

A graphic statement from PETA at the time revealed that she had often killed up to two animals a day, including a kitten who was bound with masking tape before being stomped on with a high heel that went into its eye.

Another video shows her using a meat cleaver to cut off a puppy's leg, PETA said.

She allegedly filmed the videos with the help of Brent Justice, 52, who is also charged with animal cruelty.

They would then give the videos to people who were sexually aroused by the treatment, prosecutors said, the Houston Chronicle reported.

'When a person tortures and kills an animal, that raises a red flag about that person’s capacity for violent behavior in general,' District Attorney Devon Anderson said, News92 reported.

'It will always be a priority for our office to aggressively prosecute offenders who abuse animals.'

The case is the first time anyone has been prosecuted for 'crush' videos in Harris County.

'While we are satisfied that the defendant received the maximum penalty in these cases,' Anderson said. 'We will fight at the next legislative session to increase the punishment range for this offense to better protect these animals and all citizens of Harris County.'

Stephanie Bell from PETA added: 'Given the undeniable link between cruelty to animals and interpersonal violence, the community at large is safer when convicted abusers such as Richards are behind bars.'

Some charges in the case were dismissed last year because a federal judge dismissed the statue as overbroad and a violation of their First Amendment rights. Four months later, prosecutors filed an appeal.

'As with child pornography, it is necessary to dry up the market in animal crush videos, which have little if any social value, in order to effectively prevent the criminal acts that necessarily occur when the videos are produced,' prosecutors had claimed, the Houston Press reported last year.

Justice is being held in the Harris County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
