Fourth suspect arrested in Kingsport animal cruelty case

TENNESSEE -- A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the recent death of a dog in Kingsport.

Police report Terry Whitaker, 41, of Arden, N.C., turned himself in at the Kingsport city jail on Tuesday morning. Whitaker and three others were indicted last week by a Sullivan County grand jury on charges of aggravated animal cruelty.

The case involved a Pomeranian left tied in the backyard of 650 Donelson Drive. Kingsport police report the dog succumbed to heat on May 31 after being left with no shade or water.

Whitaker was reportedly staying at the home when the incident occurred. Three residents of the address, Losha L. Detamore, 32, Telda D. Detamore, 34, and William D. Comerford, 71, were also indicted for aggravated animal cruelty and arrested on Friday.
