Tennessee: Woman asks neighbors to be on the alert for pit bull which attacked her neighbor's dog; immediately gets criticized by those announcing "not all pits are bad"

TENNESSEE -- Amanda McCarver posted on Facebook September 30, 2017

My sweet neighbor and her dog were attacked by a pit bull that was running loose and even came into her home.

She had to miss several days of work because of this incident.

Please be on the lookout for this dog if you walk down Cherry Grove Rd. Do not want anyone else or their dog harmed.

Ashley West - Do you know what color the dog was?

Amanda McCarver - I think white??

Kaiely MacDonald - I really hope this doesn't bring even more bad judgement on pitbulls. They aren't all like this. I have three and they are the biggest babies. If you raise them right they are great dogs.

Ashley West - I have 2, I hate that this happened to this person as well. It's a reflection of the owner in most cases.

Kaiely MacDonald - I hate it too. I just hate how they get such a bad rep. Everytime we take our dogs out somewhere people yank their kids away and they don't even do anything but lay down or sit.

Kerry Battle - I'm honestly not trying to argue. I'm wondering how you are so sure it was a pitbull when you're not even sure about the color? Pits get a lot of negativity and there are a few breeds that can be confused with them. So it just seems curious to me that you're positive of the breed, but not the color? If it might not be white, couldn't it not be a pit also?

Amanda McCarver - My neighbor described the dog as a pit bull. Not trying to offend anyone about the breed. I know any dog can be aggressive despite the breed.

Amanda McCarver - My neighbor is a kind lady and would never speak badly about any person or dog for that matter. Extremely gracious lady. She just want people to be on the lookout in case they walk down our street. It would be ashame for this dog to terrorize another person or dog for that matter.

Jennifer Hicks Spencer - Amanda, when was this?!! Post this in our neighborhood fb site.

Amanda McCarver - Jennifer Hicks Spencer, two weeks ago but I just found out. I have not seen the dog loose myself. Just feel very sorry for my sweet neighbor and want to give a heads up to those who walk down our street.

Kerry Battle - I definitely agree with that and I'm very sorry this happened to her. I just wanted to know how it was known for sure it was a pit. People could be keeping an eye out for that kind of dog, meanwhile the real attacker is continued to be let out and unrecognized. I hope it is caught, no matter what breed, it is obviously dangerous.
