Toddler and her grandmother are attacked by a dog

GEORGIA -- Columbus Police are investigating a dog attack that's left a toddler and her grandmother hospitalized.

The victim's father tells me that two-year-old Cynthia Bell Watson was mauled by a Rottweiler after she went up to an unlocked gate and innocently let herself in, wanting to play with the dog.

That's when the dog attacked. Cynthia was walking to the grocery store with her grandmother and older brother Gabriel.

Gabriel says the dog jumped all over the 2-year-old, scratching and biting her and eventually got a hold of the top of her head, taking the skin off of her scalp.

Her Father also told me when I spoke to him at the Columbus Medical Center, that his daughter was initially being treated at the medical center but was air lifted to Atlanta around 5pm.

According to the victim's mother Cynthia’s grandmother is currently being treated at the medical center for shock and trouble breathing.

Columbus police confirm that they are investigating the attack, which occurred near 900 Woodburn Drive and Buena Vista Road.
