Monday Bennette told KGW she was walking to her car last Thursday when the dog attacked her.
"It was scary," she said. "I was terrified. I didn't know what to do."
Then, on Friday, the dog, Duke went after the teenager. The bite wounds required a trip to the hospital. "He got her really bad," Bennette said.
Bennette's own injuries included bites to her wrist when she tried to fend the dog off after it had already bitten her savagely on the leg.
After the attacks, animal control officers took the dog away.
"He's not a dog that should be out without adult supervision, without somebody constantly watching him," said the shelter's Sonya Pulvers, "He should be home safe in a yard."
KGW could not reach the owners, but they told the animal control staff they felt Duke was a good dog they had raised from a puppy.
The dog's owners face a hearing later this week. The outcome could range from returning the dog to its owners or having to euthanize the animal.
Bennette does not want the dog to die. She said the owners were at fault for its behavior.
"I've seen them physically abuse them and beat them and kick them and yell and scream at them," she said, referring to the neighbor's dogs.
