North Carolina: "One of My babies was bitten by a pit bull mix"

NORTH CAROLINA -- Angel Brockman posted on Facebook March 23, 2018 ·

One of My babies was bitten by a pit bull mix who runs around periodically in my mom’s neighborhood spraying territory. We were on our property and the dog just lunges out of nowhere and picks my dog up by the tail.

I was able to get the dog to leave her alone but the damage was already done. There have been many calls made to get someone to put him up but nobody wants to claim him as theirs, many ppl would’ve shot the dog but I am an animal lover. I respect all life and I value peace.

I took her to the vet but they wanted to euthanize her or do emergency surgery (which would result in more blood loss and was still not guaranteed). You don’t know how much you love your pets until something like this happens. she had already lost so much blood but I would’ve had to make it to their emergency clinic in rush hour traffic ( in 10mins)

..needless to say it was a hard decision but as I sat in traffic I felt her getting limper and limper so I made the decision to just go home.God gave me the wisdom to stop the bleeding and nurse her back to health. Some of you may not believe it but God Loves animals too, I’ve seen Him heal. Happy #NationalPetDay I love animals like I love ppl!

You can’t trust every vet, some of them just want money and they don’t do all they can to help animals before suggesting killing them. Use your gut! If you have a vicious dog who has bitten anything or anyone, put them up it’s not cute to have a dog who attacks, they should never be off the leash bc if they bite small animals, they I’ll eventually bite small children!

I didn’t post all the blood bc it’s too graphic just know it was enough to be life threatening. If you are reading this and you know who’s dog it is just let them know if the dog comes in the yard again he will be picked up by Animal Control. Enough is enough!

Susan Mason no she has bites all over her and a big gash on her hindquarters

Donna Spell Poor thing. Could have been a child. Needs to be something done to that dog and owner.

Susan Mason that's what I told the cop

Leanna Flood Shoot shovel and shut up. That dog would be dead one way or another.

Tammy L Barton It has a taste for blood now! My sisters Boston terrior was viciously destroyed by a pit bull. There was blood dripping off the walls and blood everywhere! When they attack they need to be destroyed!

United Kingdom: Gizmo hangs on for 6 agonizing days before dying from horrific Pit Bull attack

UNITED KINGDOM -- On Saturday 10th of February 2018 I took my beloved Gizmo out for his usual walk in his usual place nothing out of the ordinary..

we turned a corner and could see another dog running loose with its owner, I automatically put him on a short lead as I always do when we meet other dogs as all good owners and handlers do.. this said dog is a PIT BULL!!

It spotted Gizmo and came running at him grabbed him by his scruff and threw him in the air there followed a horrific attack which lasted 15 minutes or possibly more ..

during this time the dog was uncontrollable the owner could do nothing with it.

the dog eventually let Gizmo go, I scooped him up in my arms and turned my back in that split second the dog jumped up at me and snatched Gizmo from my arms.

Again the dog would not let go, the said owner dived on the dog and was screaming at me to grab Gizmo and run with him (good ehh).. I proceeded to punch and kick this dog to get it to let go of my precious Gizmo he wouldn't harm a fly!!

In this time again the owner was laying on the dog still screaming at me to grab Gizmo and run. The said dog again let go I scooped Gizmo up and cradled him but the dog jumped up again and snatched Gizmo from my arms. The noise was horrendous and something which I'll never forget..

again the dog let go with all the screaming and shouting the said dog managed to get free and snatched Gizmo for the third and final time but this time sends shivers down my spine as the noise my darling Gizmo made as he was pulled by his back leg I can not describe.

Many of my neighbours heard the racket and came running out to help us, it took two men to wrestle the dog off gizmo and get the dog under control and back on its harness!! Yes it had no collar on or harness! One of these men escorted the dog and owner back to her property whilst the other scooped Gizmo and myself up and drove us to the Vets!!

But as I'm writing this totally heartbroken and so so angry it is with such sadness that I have to say after 6 days having intensive care from the vets my beloved chunky monkey sadly passed away late last night from a massive cardiac arrest!

We have been left with a tremdous vets bill and the said owner is unlikely to pay anything towards this, so I'm hoping that this story tugs on the hearts of all you dog lovers out there to help us with as much or as little as you possibly can.. Thankyou x

Kentucky: Elderly woman demands officials do something - "I have lived here 70 years. I won't let my little dog get hurt again! I will kill that Pit Bull, even if I have to go to jail!"

KENTUCKY -- A Covington woman pleaded for help from Kenton County, arguing that she feels trapped in her home on Cherry Street after her dog was attacked by another dog that she characterized as a pit bull.

"I am trapped in my house," Maryann Bullock said. "My little dog was mauled by this pit bull! As soon as this dog gets out it runs straight to my yard."

She described how her 10-pound Shih Tzu rescue dog survived the attack, but just barely, and after suffering 18 strokes herself, she has to have help to get the medicine into her dog's mouth.

"My dog is all I've got left. I have a right to live here, my dad built this house in 1938 and I have lived here 70 years. I won't let my little dog get hurt again! I will kill that pit bull, even if I have to go to jail! I don't feel protected any more!"

Kenton County handles animal control issues in Covington and throughout the county.

County attorney Stacy Tapke said Bullock's case was headed to court, and she invited Bullock to come to her office, or call her and she will find out if there are any more details she wanted to put into the case.

Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said that once the new animal shelter director is in place the county will be better able to keep up with cases like this.

Commissioner Jon Draud was especially sympathetic to Bullock's situation, calling it "pretty damn bad" and "disgraceful" that she is trapped in her house and can't use her yard.

He asked if someone could talk to the dog warden and find out what they were doing about this dog that was apparently allowed to run free and menace people and their pets.

County Administrator Joe Shriver said he would talk to the people at Animal Control.

Texas: No criminal investigation being done on PetSmart groomer who abused Shih Tzu

KATY, TEXAS -- A customer walking into a west Houston PetSmart knew she needed proof of what she saw as a dog was being groomed Thursday.

Terah Leder started to record video on her phone.

"I was trembling, freaking out. I couldn't believe what I had just seen," said Leder.

The video lasted just over two minutes. In it, Leder says, you can see a groomer handling a dog aggressively as the fur was trimmed around its head and neck.

"It was crazy," said Leder.

Finally, she couldn't stand it any longer and she banged on the glass and began yelling at the woman who was abusing the little dog.

After explaining to management what happened, Leder then waited outside for someone to come pick up the dog.

THIS WOMAN IS A HERO

"If that were my dog I would want to know that that happened to her," said Leder.

She didn't know who the owner was. She waited an hour before Brooke Vowers exited the store with the dog.

Vowers had dropped off Boo hours before and had no idea anything unusual had occurred. She said she was stunned when Leder told her what she saw.

"I was like, 'Are you kidding?' Just kinda like confused, you know?" said Vowers.

Only later did Vowers watch the video. She then posted it to Facebook where it went viral.

"That was just a tidbit of the video. I'd hate to think what would happen in four hours," Vowers said. "The fact that that could happen to anyone else's dog is just concerning to me."

Vowers says watching the video of the way her two-year-old Shih Tzu was treated makes her sick.

"If this happened to my dog, it probably happened to other dogs, and I don't want it to happen to future dogs," said Vowers.

She is thankful, however, for the kindness of this stranger who spoke up for her furry friend. Without that, she says, no one might ever have known what happened.

We've tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to reach the groomer.

PetSmart was quick to respond when we began asking about this incident. A spokesperson said the treatment is "completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated".

That employee has been fired, the company added.

There is no criminal investigation at this time.
