Oklahoma: Woman uses taser on attacking Pit Bull, saving her English Bulldog's life

OKLAHOMA -- Karen Mccoy-hefner posted on Facebook March 22, 2018 · Holdenville, OK ·

I take my dog walking every evening. I have every since I moved here over a year ago. I carry a taser with me every evening. Well thank you Lord because tonight Spanky got attacked by a pit bull.

I saw this dog jump the fence, run across the street, I'm trying to get my taser out of my pocket. Just as I get it out he hits Spanky so hard he knocks him into the ditch.

Spanky is on his back and this dog has him by the neck and he's starting to shake his head back and forth.

I start screaming and start tasing him. I [zapped] the Pit Bull maybe 3 or 4 times and he finally let's go and runs off.

This scared the living daylights out of me y'all.

Oh Lord I thank you for giving me the sense to carry this taser with me, cause if I wouldn't have had it Spanky would either be dead or in the hospital and maybe me too who knows.

So thank God for watching over us and protecting us.

Tiffani Wood Howard - Omg so scary ! Did the pits people come out?

Karen Mccoy-hefner - Yes after it was over. And argued with me about how it wasn't their fault. It was just ridiculous

Tiffani Wood Howard And maybe you should get a dog stick too.

Karen Mccoy-hefner I wouldn't have gotten him to let go with a stick. That's why I'm saying thank God I had that taser.

I talked to em right after it happened for ten minutes and the lady owner denied that it was her fault. She said "I had him chained up. I can't help it if he broke his leash. That's not my fault."

Oklahoma: Child, 5, mauled by neighbor's Pit Bull. His mom tells reporter, "I don't blame the dog"

OKLAHOMA -- The mother of a 5-year-old said her son was almost killed when her neighbor's dog jumped the fence and attached her boy.

"He could have killed my son. He was a fraction of an inch away from puncturing his jugular veins," said Christina Stahler. "It looked like he had just been dumped by red paint."

The boy was rushed to OU Children's Hospital where his cuts and bruises were treated. The child received eight stitches.

Neighbors were there to help save the child and said the dog has attacked other residents in the neighborhood.

Animal Control was called; the dog is now confined to the house. If it comes out, it must be on a leash.

We tried to talk to the dog's owners. Their child said they weren't home.

"That dog is very vicious. It needs to be put down before it hurts someone seriously," said Betty Wooden, area resident. "There are a lot of kids in this trailer park that runs around, so something needs to be done."

MOTHER OF LITTLE BOY IS AN APOLOGIST
"I don’t blame the dog. We’ve owned pit bulls, and we have three strays here that are super friendly. The responsibility of the dog's actions lay on the owners," Stahler said.

"The dog needs to be euthanized. This has happened before. I don’t believe there is any rehab for the dog. I don’t want to see this happening to someone else's kids."

News 4 talked to Animal Control; they said the dog's scheduled to be picked up Tuesday. It will be held at their facility until a judge rules on its future.

Typically, the owners are assessed a $200 fine, but it could be up to $1,200. The Stahlers would have to file a civil suit for damages and medical costs.

Oklahoma: Two young girls attacked by Lab/Pit Bull mix; Animal Control refuses to come out. Now the dog is "gone"

OKLAHOMA -- Starlyn Jennings posted on Facebook March 3, 2018 ·

Dog attacked Eberae and ANOTHER LITTLE GIRL IN MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND WE STILL HAVENT HEARD FROM ANIMAL DEPARTMENT AND THE POLICE AREN’T COMING OUT. I’m pissed! Both kids attacked in same area!

Amy Jenson News posted on Facebook March 4, 2018 ·

Two girls say they were attacked yesterday afternoon by a dog at their apartment complex. Both have deep gashes on their chest, arms and hands.

The family says they've contacted police, but were told animal control won't come out until Monday.

Starlyn Jennings posted on Facebook March 4, 2018 ·

I came home to a very thoughtful letter from the owner of the dog. She is a mother of four and assured us the dog was gone. She apologized and asked to pay for the medical bills. Eberae read the letter and said “no mom, she can’t afford it” (Eberae knew the lady and her dog because she has played with her kids) I said “what about she just cover the $150 co pay?” Eberae said, “Can she just pay half?” So I honored Eberaes wishes and this was my reply:

This is Eberaes mom. We appreciate you reaching out to us. Eberae doesn’t want you to pay the whole bill, but if you could pay half of the copay we would be thankful, it was 150, so it would be only $75

No, no, no! This woman needs to turn this dog into Animal control. It needs to be quarantined. And it needs to be euthanized after the observation period.

Oklahoma: While at the park, woman's German Shepherd attacked by loose Pit Bull

OKLAHOMA -- Sherri Duncan posted on Facebook March 2, 2018 · Oklahoma City, OK ·

My baby Sage, my son and I had a horrible experience at the local park this afternoon.

We were walking on the sidewalk, when I heard this loud bark, I turned around and this huge white pit bull was running full on towards us.

Before I could holler to my son ... run... the dog was on us and my baby trying to bite her around the neck.. she went into protection mode... and all I could think of is get to the water...

there is a pond in the park we were close to... dragging the dogs, as my son was fending off the pit, I managed to get my baby and I in the water cuz I knew that pit could not swim and fight at the same time...

my baby was trying to protect me not leaving me in the water and the pit had got out of the water not letting us out...

I'm trying to hold her, call the police , and the owner finally came up and argued saying her dog was playing, I'm crying scared, and she wouldn't get her dog..

we kept hollering for her to take her dog and she said... the police know us... our dogs are  out all the time!!!

Turns out the police did not know her, animal control took the pit custody till out court hearing next Wednesday. I'm so glad we're all ok.. but such a frightening experience.

(December 2017) Oklahoma: Owner bitten, his Chocolate Lab named Macy ripped apart by Pit Bull; Animal Control gives Pit Bull back to owner

OKLAHOMA -- Hello, my name is Kristin Pistilli. I started this page to help my family members, Ronnie and Brittney Andrews offset some of the huge vet bills to save sweet Macy!

On December 21, 2017 Ronnie was out walking, Remington (1 year old daughter) Macy (chocolate lab). While on their walk, a pit bull came charging at them.

The aggressive pit bull viciously attacked Macy, grabbing her by the neck with it's teeth and not letting go. Ronnie fought to get the pit bull off Macy, the pit bull had a lock on her. The pit bull bit Ronnie's hand twice.

A witness stopped his car on the street to help Ronnie get the pit bull off Macy. They were finally able to get the dog off Macy, after several minutes of intense attack.

They're very lucky their infant daughter was not also attacked.

The Police Department and Animal Control were called out immediately. Macy suffered severe bites and was rushed to the Emergency Vet. They had to put her under anesthesia to have the huge bites sutured up. Macy was sent home on antibiotics and pain medicine.

On Tuesday, December 26th , Ronnie had to rush sweet Macy to the emergency vet again, large amounts of fluid started pouring out of a hole Macy's chest. The vet had to put her under again.

Today, December 28th, Ronnie had to take Macy to the vet again as she was not doing well, she is scheduled to have surgery again this afternoon. They will have to cut her open top to bottom and along her neck and spine, wash the areas out and put in drain tubes.

We are hoping and praying Macy can pull through all of this! Macy is the sweetest and most loving chocolate lab, she's a huge part of our family!

The pit bull's owners have accepted no responsibility for this attack, the pit bull was just running freely. Animal control placed the dog on a 10 day, in house probation....that's it!!!

Oklahoma dog attack laws need to be changed. If the dog had bit Ronnie or Remmington first then animal control could actually do something.

Please help Macy survive this brutal attack. Money raised will go towards:
-Macy's medical bills
-Macy's recovery

UPDATE - JANUARY 2018
Macy is home today. She has a LONG road to recovery, hopefully this last surgery will begin the road to getting our Macy back!

Update from Ronnie last night
-The Dr called and said surgery was successful. The first culture came back negative for resistant bacteria. The area had pretty bad necrosis from the skin being torn away from the muscle/tendons (avulsions) that she cut out. She has a drain tube and will have to be drained every day or two depending on drainage. Waiting on second culture to come back Saturday or Monday.

In most cases, a landlord will not be liable if a tenant’s dog attacks someone.

However, there are certain situations when a landlord can be held responsible if a tenant’s dog does cause harm. Please keep in mind that each state has different laws, so it is important to check locally to determine the exact rules that may apply to you.

“knew the dog was dangerous and could have had the dog removed; or
"harbored" or "kept" the tenant's dog—that is, cared for or had some control over the dog.”

1. Knew the Dog Was Dangerous:
In short, if a landlord had knowledge that a dog posed a real threat to others, the landlord could be held liable.

For example: The dog had bitten or attacked someone and the landlord was aware of the attack. If the landlord chooses to allow the animal to remain on the property, knowing that it could be a threat to the safety of all tenants and anyone else who may come in contact with the animal, some states may consider partial blame for any future attack to fall on the landlord.

This liability is usually combined with the landlord’s ability to remove the animal.

2. Ability to Remove the Animal:
Unable to Remove the Animal:
Many states would not hold the landlord liable, even if the landlord knew an animal was dangerous, if the landlord was unable to legally remove the animal. If you have attempted to remove the animal, but the court did not give you legal authority to do so based on state laws or based on your lease agreement, then you most likely would not be at fault for any future attacks. In this situation, however, you should alert all current and future tenants that there is a dangerous animal on premises and put up ‘beware of dog’ signs.

Able to Remove the Animal but Did Not:
In a situation where the landlord had knowledge that the animal was dangerous and had the ability to remove the animal, but chose not to, the landlord could be held liable if the dog injures someone.

For example: The tenant signed a pet agreement that stated if the dog displayed any vicious behavior, the tenant must get rid of the animal or must move-out with the animal. The dog bit someone. This would be considered vicious behavior. According to the pet agreement, the dog and/or tenant should no longer live in the property.

If the landlord did not follow through on this contract, and the dog bites another person, the landlord could be liable. In this case, the landlord knowingly and willingly allowed a dangerous animal that was a threat to others to continue to live in their property.

The theory is that, while the landlord does not own the dog, their negligence contributed to any future attack.

3. Harbored the Animal:
If the landlord cares for the dog as if he or she owns the dog, i.e. feeds the dog, takes it for walks, watches the dog while the owner is at work, then he or she will inherit the same liability as the dog’s actual owner if the dog injures someone. They become a de facto owner.

Oklahoma: Woman stabs her own Pit Bull with scissors after it turns on her in horrific 20-minute attack

OKLAHOMA -- Wayland Gray added 6 new photos to Facebook January 18, 2018 at 6:31pm · Tulsa, OK ·

Talkin to a friend who was attacked 20 minute battle she stabbed him with a pair of small scissors over and over by her Pit Bull that she owned and trusted.

I'm not posting this to bash Pits it doesn't matter any dog can turn on you [well, that's true, but not very many can do this to a human being -- bully breeds are the ones that do this the most often]. The most ridiculous the thing I've ever heard is "oh cujo is harmless he wont bite" ..

My reason for posting this is to show the damage that can be done with one bite drug her 300 ft. Inches away from the momma dog sleeping and luckily she was deaf so didn't wake up possibly could have joined the attack ... watch the kids....

I was almost attacked when I was about 11 by two pit bulls who were coming at me in my backyard that jump the fence we had an acre backyard I had a dog that was full-blooded Chow a red one named Nikki she come flying around the house and went head on with the first one that was leading the way she was so fierce in her attack that the other Pit bull turned around and ran back and jump the fence to get away and Nikki tore that Pit bull up it got up and ran off I jumped up on top of my grandma's tornado cellar so when your kids are out playing you got to also beware of stray dogs

Dana Cruze - Jesus Christ, that looks like a shark bite! She is lucky to be alive. Pit bulls have killed HUNDREDS of people, and they keep killing people every 9 days, and severely mauling people every day. They killed 2 people just this past week.

It's NOT the owners. If the problem was with owners then we'd be seeing fatalities by all breeds, and each year there would be a different #1 killer. But it is ALWAYS pit bulls every year.
