(November 2017) California: Enping Qu, 22, poured boiling water FIVE TIMES onto a screaming dog that was locked in a cage, say police

CALIFORNIA -- Two 17-year-old teens at a Chino Valley park called sheriff’s officials after they watched and video recorded a man at a nearby apartment building pouring scalding water on a caged dog Tuesday evening, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials.

“You could hear the horror in the girl’s voice when she said, ‘Oh my god, is that boiling water?’ ” said Deputy Dan Renear on Wednesday.

Enping Qu pouring boiling water on the dog locked in its cage

The teens were in Pinehurst Park around 5 p.m. when Renear said they heard a dog whimpering.

The 17-year-old boy and girl looked around and spotted the caged dog on the third-story balcony of a nearby apartment building, which was more than 50 yards away.

That’s when Renear said the pair saw a man, later identified as 22-year-old Enping Qu, use a tea kettle to pour water over his girlfriend’s dog.

Renear and a trainee, Dominic Ramirez, tracked down the right unit at the apartment in the 16000 block of Butterfield Ranch Road.

Qu, who spoke very limited English, allowed the deputies into the apartment, where they found the dog, still wet and warm, in the cage in the balcony.

Using Google translator on their phones, deputies learned the dog belonged to Qu’s girlfriend, who was at school, Renear said.

As Ramirez spoke to Qu, Renear spotted an electric tea kettle on a warming plate that had been turned off.

“But when I touched it, that thing was still scorching hot. I couldn’t even put my hand on it,” he said.

Because the complex is fairly new and doesn’t show up on all maps, Renear said it took Inland Valley Humane Society officers more than an hour to arrive at the complex.

Note: Seriously, this is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. You couldn't find the address so you drove around for "more than an hour"?

A Google Maps search shows exactly where the apartment complex is it:

I can't imagine the police just standing around FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR while this little dog, with its burned skin and in horrible pain (they say burn injuries are the most painful of all injuries)... just sat there and suffered.

“But even after an hour and a half or an hour and 15 minutes, when they tested the water — even after all that time — it was 129 degrees,” Renear said.

Detectives learned Qu poured hot water on the dog five times, according to a sheriff’s statement.

Qu claimed to deputy he "didn't know the water was that hot" and that, the other times he was seen pouring water from the tea kettle over and over onto the dog was, according to him, he "tried to add cold water".

Qu was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and animal control officers took possession of the dog. It’s unclear if the dog will be returned to its owner, Renear said.

Records indicate Qu was released on bail.

“I’m a dog-lover and it makes you angry,” Renear said. “It was a very sweet and loving little dog.”

Qu, 22, was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty. Qu quickly posted bail and was released.

Note: Did Mommy and Daddy give him the money? Many Asian countries, including China, don't have animal cruelty laws. They can do whatever they want to animals without repercussion - that's why they boil dogs alive. Likely, he thought he could do whatever he wanted to animals here in the United States without repercussion -- or he simply didn't care.

(November 2017) Illinois: After being bitten by a Maltese, Tessa says the media has brainwashed us into fearing Pit Bulls

ILLINOIS -- Tessa Brooker posted on Facebook November 6, 2017 ·

⚠️ I'm gonna be real for a second. And if you don't like it, I won't be offended if you click the delete button. ⚠️

Everyone out there is so quick to pick the dog on the left vs the dog on the right. Why ? Because the media tells you to ? I, as a dog groomer, would much rather come face to face with the dog on the right while trimming its nails/grooming it than the dog on the left. If that doesn't speak volumes than y'all are brainwashed.

Last week I got bit by the breed on the left, had to do an incident report, ice it, the whole 9 yards.

The next day, the breed on the right, kissed my face the whole time I was trimming his nails (true story). Today is the first day my hand is not as swollen & doesn't hurt so bad.

Later, I had a customer walk in. & she almost seemed hesitant to ask me a question but she asked "do you groom pitbulls..?" And I said "omg, yes." She explained a lot of grooming places no longer accept pitbulls in their salons. & all I could do was shake my head..

Moral of the story, STOP LISTENING TO THE FUCKING MEDIA !!!

(November 2017) Canada: Family horrified after pet cat allegedly drugged, abused on Snapchat; Josh Lemire charged with Animal Cruelty

CANADA -- Mounties are investigating a possible case of animal cruelty in the Cowichan Valley after a family's cat was allegedly forced to take illicit drugs and abused in videos shared on Snapchat.

Sharline Haglund says her daughter was sent disturbing Snapchat videos of the family's one-year-old cat Gigi by a former friend in the middle of the night Tuesday.

"[Gigi] got outside and because the people know my daughter, and probably the cat knows them, she would've went there with them or somehow ended up at their house," an emotional Haglund told CTV News Tuesday.

"It sounds like they gave her MDMA and then tried to shave her. From the post you can see that he has a razor that he's looking like he's going to shave her hair, and said he wanted to give her a mohawk or something."

A Facebook post created by a friend of Haglund's daughter's Tuesday accuses several people of taking part in the alleged acts of cruelty.

It also includes a screenshot of one of the alleged Snapchat messages, appearing to show a cat being shaved with a razor.

"Your cat loves molly," part of the caption reads, referring to the party drug also known as MDMA or ecstasy.

The Facebook post, which had been shared more than 700 times as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, also alleges the cat was thrown out of a window after it was fed drugs and shaved.

Haglund said her daughter notified her of the videos early Tuesday morning and they immediately contacted RCMP, which has launched an investigation.

Since going to investigators, Haglund said she's also heard the cat was given a "bleach bath" in the incident but is unsure what's true and what's not.

Gigi was missing for the majority of the day Tuesday, but was finally located around 7:30 p.m.

Haglund said everything the people in the video said they would do was done to the cat: she was shaved, the number 666 was written in her ear, and there appear to be bleach marks on her back.

She took the cat to the veterinarian Wednesday morning and said the family hoped to know more later in the day.

The BC SPCA says it is aware of the allegations and is assisting the RCMP investigation however it can. An RCMP update was expected Wednesday.

Animal protection officer Tina Heary says the organization is extremely concerned about the missing cat and the effect any illicit drugs could have on it.
"If it's been forcibly given some type of drugs and it's experiencing the effects of that, and it’s a cold rainy day – my understanding is it was also abandoned in an area away from its home – it's put into a very unfortunate and dangerous environment," said Heary.

Haglund said she has no idea why the former friends of her daughter would take part in the alleged acts, but that she considers it a form of cyberbullying.

No charges have been announced in the investigation. Mounties are appealing to anyone else who has information on what happened to contact them at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Update: Josh Lemire, 20, has been charged with Animal Cruelty. Others deemed to be minors under the age of 18 are also involved.

Future serial killers? Jeffrey Dahmer, the Night Stalker, the Boston Strangler and others have confessed to torturing and killing animals for fun before even that became mundane and they moved up to human beings.

(November 2017) Michigan: Woman and her dog attacked by Pit Bull at Hines Park; owner fled with his mauler

MICHIGAN -- A dog and its owner were reportedly injured last weekend in Hines Park after a pit bull reportedly attacked it.

Livonia police took a report Nov. 12 from a 66-year-old Livonia woman who said she was walking her Welsh terrier dog by Newburgh Lake in Hines Park at about 4 p.m. that day.

She said her dog was then attacked by a another, which she described as a pit bull, while she was west of Newburgh Lake.

She said her dog was bitten several times by the other dog, which was not on a leash at the time, according to the police report. She tried to separate the two, but fell on the ground when she did so. She suffered a bruise on her forehead and was also bitten by the dog, according to police.

The Pit Bull was being walked by a male, who refused to identify himself when the woman asked for it.

He then fled with his mauler. This is called "Pit and Run".

The woman went to St. Mary Mercy Hospital, where she received a rabies shot since the dog had bitten her and broken skin. She also took her dog to an emergency veterinarian clinic, where it received several stitches as well.

Livonia police took the report, though officers said after the report was filed that the incident appears to have taken place outside of their jurisdiction.

They're asking that the Pit Bull owner come forward with vaccination paperwork for his dog.

Police say the trail where the incident took place appears to be in Plymouth Township, which begins west of Newburgh Lake on the boundary created by Eckles Road.

Janet Reid is still in shock. She says keeps replaying the moment over and over in her head.

"She’s traumatized, I’m traumatized," said Reid.

It happened around 4 o’clock Sunday, when the pit bull approached her one-and-a-half-year-old Welsh Terrier.

"I thought it was going to sniff like dogs usually do. This one lunged and grabbed onto her and was aggressive," said Reid. "It had her pinned down, it was on her stomach, it was on her back."

Janet even got bitten herself, while trying to separate the two dogs.

"My hands got bitten, I’ve got six holes on my hands from the dog. I didn't realize until this morning that I have marks on my leg, four punctures where this pit bull's mouth was on my leg," said Reid.

"To hear [my dog] crying like a child, it was horrendous," said Reid.

For now, all this championship breed Welsh Terrier can do is hope her wounds heal fast and that she’s back to her old cheerful self again.

"She is feisty, this dog is not afraid of anything. I’m afraid it may be different now," said Reid.

Reid filed a police report with Livonia PD. She says she’s a dog lover of all sorts, but after this recent attack, she’s thinking twice.

(November 2017) New Jersey: After her Maltese was nearly killed by Pit Bulls, woman buys spiked collar for her little dog

NEW JERSEY -- Jane Danielle Yaniro posted on Facebook November 23, 2017 ·

Jerry wearing a spiked collar from https://www.coyotevest.com.

Found this company after he was attacked by 2 pit bulls. I had to pry open the one's mouth that had his neck. Mouths of steel that broke my finger.

His wounds have healed. Not sure if he will ever be back to normal after the trauma he went through.

Thankful that he is alive to enjoy today.

I bought the spiked collar for my Maltese. This will definitely keep another dog from grabbing him by his neck.

He was attacked by a pit bull and almost lost his life when I was walking him. I was bitten getting the dog to release his neck. It was a terrible experience. Now I can walk him again knowing that I have his neck protected.

(November 2017) California: "My Wilson was attacked and almost killed by a pit bull"

CALIFORNIA -- Posted on Reddit November 29, 2017

My Wilson was attacked and almost killed by a pit bull. He's out of the woods now, thankfully. Hoping a few people might be willing to help out with his vet bills some.

Hey there, fellow Boston Terrier owners. Some of you might have seen my earlier post from a couple days ago now about how this past Sunday my Boston Terrier, Wilson, was attacked by an off-leash pit bull after finding his way out of the backyard.

We took him to the vet, and while his jugular vein was only narrowly missed when the pit grabbed hold of him, the veterinarian and vet-techs repaired the rather extensive damage on and around his neck and he's back home and recovering. He's on two antibiotics and a pretty strong painkiller, and his prognosis looks good at this point. That's the (really) good news.

The not so good news is that his surgery cost $2,206.89. My mom ended up taking out what's effectively a loan out in order to pay for the cost of things up front, but that has left us in some pretty tight financial straits. ??

I have set up a GoFundMe and am posting it here (with the permission of the mods) in an attempt to help raise a few dollars, and maybe offset some of the cost for things. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and if you can't donate just forwarding the link somewhere else is a huge help in and of itself.

If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask. We're pretty exhausted from the past 72 hours but overall he's looking like he's on his way to a smooth recovery.

Thank you all for your time, and go and hug your small googley-eyed friends when you get a chance. They really are something else, and you should cherish every snort filled moment you have with them.

Update:
We've filed a report with the ASPCA (the police said we had to file with them because they only handle dog-on-human attacks) to have an official report on record.

We know the street where the pit owner lives on (he took off immediately when he realized I was Wilson's owner) and we will more than likely go through small claims court to see if we can't recoup some of the expenses.

He's been doing well with his recovery so far. He's on track to have his drains removed on Friday, and is eating and drinking no problem.

He's currently napping in the sun, the pain meds are keeping him knocked out a lot of the time so his body can heal. He's eating and drinking just fine though, which is always a good sign.

Wilson is a 12 year old Boston Terrier my mother adopted 3 years ago. On the afternoon of Nov. 27,  a neighbor came to our door and told us that Wilson had found a way out of our backyard and been attacked by an off-leash pit bull. We immediately rushed him to the emergency room given how much he was bleeding, and upon a vet inspection were informed that one of the puncture wounds narrowly missed his jugular vein.

Thankfully, after an intensive surgery he was saved from his otherwise potentionally fatal wounds. However, the bill incurred was quite expensive, and we had to take out a large loan in order to pay for his treatment. We cannot locate the owner of the pit bull at the moment to discuss liabality damages, and are pursuing that through the ASPCA.

Wilson and his family are in need of some help to get through these tough times. He is an incredible dog who means the world to myself and especially my mother, who has had Boston Terriers all her life and loves them dearly. As of now he is making a slow but steady recovery, but as you can see his injures were quite severe.

Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.  All money donated will go directly to paying off the loan for his vet bills. We will keep you updated as time goes on with his recovery, and with any luck he will be back to his old self in just a few weeks.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

(November 2017) Washington: Wildlife officers doing what they seem to love doing -- seizing and killing orphaned wildlife

WASHINGTON -- A wildlife rehabilitation facility in Rochester was reeling Monday after the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife seized three baby deer and an elk.

The animals were euthanized, because officials say they'd gotten too used to humans.

One photo WDFW shared with KING 5 shows a fawn sucking on a person's ear. State officials call it a pattern at For Heaven's Sake Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. Several young deer and an elk were all too comfortable around humans, they claim.

Rescued only to be killed by WDFW
Rescued only to be killed by WDFW

In a press release sent Monday, WDFW wrote that "state regulations and national wildlife rehabilitation standards direct wildlife managers to euthanize habituated animals rather than release them into the wild."

"The situation at the Rochester facility could have been avoided if the rehabilitators had limited human contact with the animals, weaned them sooner, and released them into the wild in accordance with state guidelines," said WDFW Wildlife Program Assistant Director Eric Gardner, in the release.

But the allegations are not true, if you ask the woman who runs the facility.

"All the fencing covered with tarp so they can't see us," Claudia Supensky pointed out.

Supensky showed KING 5 the area where the deer and elk live, designed to reduce wildlife interaction with humans. No one is allowed to treat the animals like pets, she says.

WDFW coming to kill animals...

That's why she was shocked to learn a summer intern told the state exactly that, and after a few visits, state officials showed up with a trailer to seize the animals. They took three fawn and one elk.

"Just blew my mind. I couldn't believe they could just come in and take them," she said.

WDFW says wildlife is state property and the law requires any wildlife to be removed if it loses its fear of humans. They point to photos of the animals lingering around officers.

"What we saw were animals that were very used to humans, came up to the people that entered the pen, looking to be fed.The elk head-butted one of our staff," Gardner said.

WDFW killers pretending they love wildlife

Gardner called it a tough decision, but a necessary one. Deer and elk that grow accustomed to humans have a harder time surviving in the wild and can also be a danger to humans. He says they're normally released prior to winter, and the organization's plan to keep the animals until spring is atypical.

Supensky disagrees. She says some of the animals just needed more time to learn wild behaviors after weeks of being bottle fed. It's common practice for them, she says, to keep deer over winter to give them a better chance at survival and no one has yet to tell them it's bad practice. She also questions why the animals needed to be darted and tranquilized for loading onto WDFW's trailer if they trusted humans so much.

Left with little word about what would happen to her facility, Supensky didn't even know that the four animals seized were euthanized KILLED until KING5 told her Monday.

"They were? This is the most awful thing I've ever experienced in my life," she cried.

THE TRAILER OF DEATH:
Despicable WDFW officials using an apple to lead
these innocent animals to their death

WDFW is hoping to place some of the remaining deer in a research study at Washington State University.

They also hope to use this experience as a learning lesson for the public. Many young ungulates taken to rehab facilities are mistakenly removed from their mothers by people who assume the animals are abandoned. If found, wild animals should always be left alone while appropriate authorities are called.

"It's really unfortunate that something didn't go right this time. None of us like being where we're at. It's not a pleasant situation for any of us. We really hope we can continue to work with our rehabbers and provide the service we all want them to provide which is to recover these animals and get them released back to the wild," Gardner said.

WDFW won't let For Heaven's Sake take any more deer and elk, but the group decided to stop taking all new wildlife because they're so worried the state might seize more.

"We know for a fact that given the time, these animals could've been released. To take them and kill them, healthy animals we've put all the time and work into?" Supenksy said. "This is a matter of being killed before they were given the time to be released. My heart is so sick and so sad."

The Supenskys also told The Chronicle that the deer were so frightened by approaching WDFW officers that they fled to the nearby woods and eventually had to be lured with apples and then shot with tranquilizer darts in order to be rounded up. The Supenskys claim that in all their years working with animals they have never failed to successfully release a deer back into the wild.

"WDFW did not provide (For Heaven’s Sake) and these slain fawns and calf the opportunity to reach physical, behavioral, and psychological capability for release before seizing and euthanizing them,” Karp was quoted as saying in a press release from A Soft Place to Land.

Glaze says that the heavy-handed action at For Heaven’s Sake is not the first time that the WDFW has unfairly targeted animals at rehabilitation centers for lethal action despite other non-lethal options being available.

Glaze noted that Dan Boeholt, a property owner near Montesano, had previously offered WDFW the opportunity to relocate the deer onto 65 acres of his land and was disgusted when he found out the animals had instead been euthanized.

Others have taken notice too, including 19th District state Rep. Jim Walsh, who asked in a public Facebook post, "With all of the problems it has, WDFW makes a priority of killing Bambi?"
