Florida: Pit Bull attacks entire family, including pregnant woman and teen, before being stabbed to death.

FLORIDA -- A family had to stab one of its pit bulls to death Friday after it got loose and started to attack its owners, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Now a 45-year-old mother and her 14-year-old and 22-year-old daughters are being treated for dog bites and other non-life-threatening injuries at Bayfront Medical Center, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Spencer Gross.

Sierra Willson, 22, stabbed the dog after it began viciously attacking two other dogs and then its owners, including Willson’s mother, Heidi Cooper, 45, and her sister, ________, 14.

Note: Although the news story initially listed the teen's name, I removed it after seeing on Sierra's posts that they didn't want her name listed. It's hard enough being 14 without having your name plastered all over the news.

Deputies received a 911 call at 4:07 p.m. on Friday from 765 West Gate Drive in Safety Harbor.

The Sheriff’s Office said the family had a known-aggressive pit bull named Buster they kept separate from their other two pit bulls.

From the comments below, it appears that the Pit Bull had attacked at least one of them on a previous occasion.

These are their other two Pit Bulls, that were not involved

"At some point, Buster got out and started attacking the other two pit bulls," Gross said. "The mother and two daughters tried to intervene but Buster turned on them and bit them numerous times."

Gross said one of the daughters (Sierra Willson) grabbed a knife and stabbed the dog to death.

From The Tampa Bay Times:
Reached via Facebook, Willson declined to speak with a reporter Friday evening.

On her page, she wrote that she was due to deliver a son in just seven weeks. She also regularly wrote about her dogs: a female and two males, purebred pit bulls.

She says stayed home during Hurricane Irma to be with them. She posted a photo of Buster in September with a blue heart next to his name.

Wisconsin: After Alexus Moralez's Pit Bull attacked a Pomeranian she was pet sitting, she left him to suffer for 3 weeks before she sought vet care - too late, the dog had to be euthanized

WISCONSIN -- A Racine woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly trying to steal baby clothes and assaulting an officer.

Alexus M. Moralez, 19, of the 1000 block of Hilker Place, faces felony charges of battery to a public officer and discharging bodily fluids at a public safety worker, in addition to misdemeanor charges of retail theft, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer, possession of an illegally obtained prescription medication and two counts of bail jumping.

She also faces misdemeanor charges for earlier alleged incidents, including intentional mistreatment of animals and retail theft.

According to a criminal complaint:

A Walmart loss prevention officer witnessed Moralez allegedly place $345.74 worth of baby clothes in her purse and exit the store on Thursday. Officers responded to the store, 3049 S. Oakes Road, and tried to arrest Moralez.

Moralez reportedly struck an officer in the face after he grabbed Moralez’s phone from her hands. Moralez was “decentralized on the floor” after the punch, and continued to squirm and yell before standing back up.

Moralez, who is reportedly pregnant, told officers her water had broken, but officers observed she had actually urinated in her pants.

She then allegedly spit in an officer’s face and continued to yell at officers and use profanities.

She repeatedly told officers to kill her baby “because that is the only thing police do.”

Officers located four anti-anxiety pills in Moralez’s purse for which she did not have a prescription.

Animal abuse charge
According to a separate criminal complaint:

Moralez and a co-defendant were dog-sitting a Pomeranian. The two owned a pit bull of their own.

Moralez’s pit bull attacked the Pomeranian. The dog suffered bruising to its chest and its leg was fractured in multiple spots.

Moralez and her co-defendant allegedly waited three weeks to take the dog to a veterinarian.

By this time, the dog’s leg was infected and had to be amputated or the dog would have to be euthanized. Moralez and her co-defendant brought the dog back to its owner.

The owner brought the dog back to the vet on June 3, but its leg was swollen “like a rock” and it had labored breathing. The dog then was euthanized.

The vet said that had the dog received treatment sooner, it likely would have survived.

Racine shoplifting charge

According to another criminal complaint:

Moralez was seen in May 4 security footage pushing a cart out of Shopko, 4801 Washington Ave., Racine, with two full shopping bags filled with merchandise. She allegedly exited the store without paying and loaded everything into a waiting car.

Empty hangers and 14 torn-off price tags were found alongside a pile of empty bags within the store.

If convicted of the felony charges, Moralez faces up to seven years in prison.

Pennsylvania: Fundraiser set up for two children mauled by loose Pit Bull that jumped inside minivan

PENNSYLVANIA -- A GoFundMe account has been set up for the two little kids who were mauled when a loose Pit Bull jumped into their minivan and attacked. Although the news reports said both children were strapped in their car seats, Mom explains that she'd just taken her older son out and he was standing with her as she was going to get her daughter out. That's when the Pit Bull suddenly showed up, jumped inside and began mauling her little girl's face. It then turned on her son and began attacking them.

What Happened?

Shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, our lives were forever changed when a loose pit bull escaped its yard under a fence and mercilessly attacked both of my babies. Those who know me will tell you I am not one to readily ask for help, but my children are in desperate need. As their mother, I will do everything in my power to help them heal, including accepting the generosity of friends, family and strangers as we start down this long and winding path.

My husband Jeff, son Charles (Charlie), daughter Ruby and I celebrated Father's Day on Sunday and had a full week ahead of us. Little did I know on Tuesday my kids would be recovering from hours of surgery at Penn State Children's Hospital.

On Monday, Ruby, Charlie and I went to our pediatrician for Ruby's 2½-year-old checkup. She received a clean bill of health and we headed home. I drove down the narrow street at the back of our house and backed into our off-street parking spot. I got out of the van first, got Charlie out next as he was sitting behind me on the driver's side, and we walked around the back of the van to the passenger side to get Ruby. Charlie patiently waited behind me and I opened Ruby's door. I was about to unbuckle my little girl from her car seat when the dog bolted across the street and jumped into the open van door. It all happened so fast.

The dog leapt up onto Ruby and started viciously attacking her face. I will spare the details but what Charlie and I witnessed is beyond anyone's worst nightmare. I finally managed to pull the dog off of my daughter and out of the van, but it went straight for my little boy behind me. It knocked him to the ground and began its attack.

Looking back it's all a bit blurry. It was raining and the dog was slippery. It didn't have a collar on, making it even harder to get a grip. I was on top of the dog, trying to pry its mouth open with my hands. I received several puncture wounds in the fingers, arm and neck as well as scrapes to my knees and forearms, but my injuries pale in comparison to what my children sustained. I am pregnant and fortunately the baby was not harmed. The three of us were screaming and at some point some people came to try to help. They were yelling commands at me and one of the women had a knife.

I will never forget a man hovering over us with the knife saying to me, "I'm sorry. I just can't harm an animal," while watching an animal trying to kill my son as I screamed, "MY BABIES! MY BABIES!"

At some point my son was finally free. He was able to talk and said to me through his tears, "Mummy, that was a really bad dog." I picked up my son and got into the van. My hands were so bloody I had a hard time holding onto my phone. I called 911 and explained what happened and demanded the ambulance arrive as soon as possible. The operator of course couldn't give me a time frame and I knew how much blood my kids had lost. I decided I couldn't wait and drove them to the Lancaster General Hospital emergency room myself.

Because of thunderstorms, my kids couldn't be airlifted and had to travel by ambulance to Penn State Children's Hospital. I had to get back into my husband's bloodstained van and rush up to Hershey only to wait something like eight or nine hours for my son's surgery to be finished so that Ruby could have her turn in the operating room. My husband and I waited by the side of our helpless daughter as she lay in her hospital crib while the doctors worked to repair Charlie.

Who are Ruby and Charlie?

Ruby is a spirited two-year-old who loves tutus, Peppa Pig, and the color pink. Charlie (or "Brother" as she calls him) is her best friend. She can be bossy and has been known to stamp her foot for emphasis when petitioning us for "just one more piece of chocolate". Ruby's compassion for others is huge. When she woke up from surgery and saw the scratches on my arm, she immediately said, "Oh no! Your boo boos! I kiss your boo boos." She is looking forward to becoming a big sister in December.

Charlie is a sensitive, gifted five-year-old who loves writing, drawing, Lightning McQueen, and the color red. He relishes his role as the big brother and is extremely protective of his little sister. He had been looking forward to starting kindergarten in eight weeks. He attended pre-kindergarten this past year and learned how to read and write. He aspires to be a famous writer or artist when he grows up. When the swelling in his eyes subsided enough for him to see again, he immediately began drawing pictures to decorate his hospital room.

Expenses and Moving Forward

Ruby and Charlie are lucky to be alive after the attack but they each have a long road ahead of them. Their doctors assure me and Jeff there is a lot of hope for both of our babies but it is simply too early to know for sure what they will need down the line. Every penny donated will go toward the kids' current and future medical expenses. The amount of money they will require will far exceed our family's financial ability or any kind of settlement we can expect. The major costs to our family are listed below:

1. Future surgeries - Because of the severe facial lacerations, nerve and muscle damage each child has suffered, they are guaranteed to need multiple surgeries over the course of several years. We are not sure if Charlie will ever be able to smile again. One side of Ruby's beautiful smile is drooping and her left eye doesn't close at this point when she cries. Aside from operations to restore function to their faces, the kids will need to undergo further plastic surgeries and/or laser treatments to improve their appearance and help minimize their outward scarring.

2. Speech therapy and counseling - Charlie may need speech therapy to help him overcome the damage he suffered. Both kids will need intensive counseling as they are now understandably terrified of dogs. Charlie has night terrors and wakes up in the night shielding his face. When he woke up after surgery, the first thing he talked about was the dog. Up until now, Ruby has had zero fear of our family cat, Penny. Upon returning home, she asked Jeff if Penny was going to bite her. There are two large dogs living next door to us, and I already wonder how I will get my kids in and out of their home without fear.

3. Hospital stays - Ruby stayed three days in the hospital while Charlie slowly made his way from the pediatric intensive care unit to the pediatric intermediate care unit. On Saturday, June 24, he was moved to the regular floor.

4. Rabies shots/medications - The dog had not been immunized in close to four years, meaning the three of us need to undergo a painful series of rabies vaccinations. The kids received numerous medications in the hospital and will be sent home with several prescriptions.

5. Everyday living expenses - We are a working class family. Jeff works hard as a printing pressman on third shift. I left my job two years ago to be a stay-at-home mother until the kids are in school full-time. Jeff will be off work for an indefinite period of time and the loss of income would be tough enough even without a baby on the way.

How You Can Help

1. Make a donation - We are grateful for every amount we receive, no matter how small. We promise all of the funds raised will go directly to helping Ruby and Charlie heal.

2. Spread the word - Share this campaign on all your social media. Talk to your friends and family about it. Send out an email. Put up a flyer at your break room at work. If you're a churchgoer, talk to your priest or pastor.

Should you have any questions about making a donation, feel free to contact my sister Kerry Shuffelbottom or me. Thank you in advance for supporting our family through this horrific ordeal.

Much love,

Margot Shuffelbottom Warfel (Charlie and Ruby's mother)

United Kingdom: Chloe Cutler, unmarried, 24 years old with two children and pregnant with a 3rd, is told by judge 'I hope you care for your children better' but doesn't even order her to spend a single night in jail after she was found to have purposely abandoned her Rottweiler puppy to starve to death, with plans to secretly return and bury it "once it finally died"

UNITED KINGDOM -- A pregnant mother who starved her puppy to death so she could bury it in the back garden without anyone knowing has avoided prison.

Chloe Cutler, 24, chose to starve the little Rottweiler puppy "for months" while she prepared to move into a new residence and was allegedly told she could not have a pet at her new place.

Instead of taking the puppy to the shelter or putting an ad online to find it a new home, she chose to starve it to death.

The desperate animal became so thirsty it drank bleach from the toilet before suffering a long and painful death which was 'entirely avoidable', a court heard.

Horrified RSPCA officers found the dog's emaciated carcass hidden under a blanket when they raided Cutler's empty house in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

They also found three tins of dog food on a sideboard but Cutler had not opened a single one to help save the dying animal.

Prosecutor Kevin Campbell, for the RSPCA, said the dog endured a long death that was 'entirely avoidable'.

'When the RSPCA got into the property they found a very skinny Rottweiler carcass. It was sent off to the pathologist who said the dog died of starvation over many months.

'It could have been avoided had she have just given it some food. There were three tins of dog food on the side. The dog had also drank bleach from the toilet because it was so thirsty.'

Cutler, who already has two children, said she moved out of the house just before Christmas because she lost her electricity card.

She went to stay with her mother and could not take the dog because her mother already had animals.

Probation officer Jayne Todd said: 'She knew the dog was losing weight for about four weeks but CLAIMS could not afford vet care. She returned to the house and left the dog again fully aware of the dire condition it was in.

'She planned to return [after it finally starved to death] and then bury it in the garden thinking nobody else would need to know about it.'

Cutler admitted causing unnecessary suffering to an animal between December 23, 2016 and January 23, 2017.

NO JAIL TIME FOR THIS MONSTER

Magistrates reduced her sentence to 17 weeks because of her guilty plea and suspended it for 18 months. During sentencing a magistrate told Cutler he hoped she 'cared for her children better'.

She was also ordered to pay £360 legal costs and a £115 surcharge and was banned from keeping animals for life.

Cutler's defense attorney, Calum Terry, made excuses claiming she was 'a young girl struggling on her own with two young children' at the time.

He added: 'She takes full responsibility and has been upset since the very start of this. At the time, her priority was her young children.'

Maybe her priority should be BIRTH CONTROL and GETTING A JOB.

Nick Edgar, chair of the bench at Newton Aycliffe Magistrate’s Court, said: “I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of yourself, this is a particularly callous case.

“You stayed away from a property that you imprisoned this dog in hoping it would die so you could dispose of it. It’s absolutely terrible. I hope you’re caring for your children better than you cared for the dog.”

Michigan: Pregnant woman questions police response after pit bull attack

MICHIGAN -- A pregnant woman is recovering after a vicious dog attack at a Detroit gas station. Brianna Terry wasn't just in fear for her life but also her unborn baby.

"I was screaming of course because before this I hadn't been bit by anything more than a mosquito," Terry said. "I was pretty mortified."

Brianna Terry says the morning of Feb. 23 she went to the Marathon gas station at the corner of Wyoming and Grand River to grab some coffee when she spotted a man with two pit bulls, one brown and one white

"I'm on the phone and ... the dog was not riled up, not barking, no warning, it was instant attack," she said.

More troubling is that Terry is 5 and half months pregnant. And the white pit bull that attacked her was there with his owner and not on a leash.

"I was so afraid for this dog to thrash his head maybe rip off my whole calf," she said. "I didn't hit it, I just screamed 'Get your dog, get it off.' People all the way down Wyoming, 10 houses down, heard me scream."

She says the dog bit her arm and chewed her leg all the way down to the muscle. It didn't let go until a man at the gas station, fired his gun in the pit bull's direction.

"I'm looking. I'm getting my firearm, I'm cocking it and I'm jumping out the car," said Fred Hutchinson.

It's that split-second decision that Hutchinson of Detroit had to make when he says he saw two pit bulls attacking a young woman.

"She might've been dead. I'm just going to be honest she might've been dead," he said.

That same man called 911 while - Terry hobbled to the alley out of harm's way. She says officers quickly arrived along with EMS, which quickly rushed her to the hospital. She received multiple stitches for her deep wounds.

But as far as the investigation, she says she has been given numerous Detroit Police Department numbers to call, but investigators have not pursued this case or tried to track down the owner of the dogs.

"I just get bounced around not getting answer from anyone," she said.

The owner of the dogs disappeared before officers arrived, but Terry isn't giving up. She wants the neglectful owner and the aggressive dogs caught before this happens to anyone else.

"I know somebody knows who this guy is and where he is with these vicious dogs," she said. "And I need him to answer for this. This is going to scar me for life."

Terry can't work right now and contacted an attorney who says they can't do anything until the dog owner is identified.

Florida: Man recovering from attack by pit bull up for adoption at animal shelter

FLORIDA -- Chris Luhrs, a 40-year-old Disney World mechanic who keeps the popular Jungle Cruise ride running, was standing in a tiny room at the Lake County Animal Shelter stroking a potential new family member named “Big Man.”

Suddenly, Luhrs’ pregnant partner, Julie Grant, noticed the pit-bull mix — you knew this story would be about a pit bull, didn’t you? — pull his lips back over his teeth in what very clearly was not a friendly smile.

“Julie locked eyes with me, and he leaped,” said Luhrs, an Army veteran who lives with Grant on 27 acres south of Groveland. “He was getting petted one second and the next, it was a full-on attack — barking and biting. He bit my nose, and at the same time knocked out my front tooth … He lunged for her [Grant], and I intervened.”

That act of bravery Feb. 2 is costing him.

The animal kept biting while Luhrs bellowed at Grant, who was pinned in a corner, to get out of the room. Blood sprayed all over, and Grant — a pit-bull lover — started beating on the glass walls to get help. A worker came running with a mop and used it to beat the dog off Luhrs.

The director of Lake EMS, which carted Luhrs to South Lake Hospital in Clermont, described the incident as “very minor” — a few puncture wounds and a few scratches.

Luhrs’ point of view is different.

He spent three days in the veterans hospital in Lake Nona after the wound got infected. Now he has little range of motion in his dominant right hand, no feeling in his fingertips or upper palm, can’t make his hand grasp a tool, needs plastic surgery on his nose and will have to pay out of pocket for a dental implant or bridgework so he doesn’t look like something out of “The Beverly Hillbillies” for the rest of his life.

This big man screamed as doctors probed the bites with needles, twisting and turning them deep into the puncture wounds to inject anti-rabies medicine where it had to be delivered because the dog had gotten a rabies vaccine only the day before — not enough time to take effect.

On Wednesday, doctors ordered a month of physical therapy for “crushed” nerves in his forearm — he is still out of work with no guarantee the nerves will spring back. Grant bursts into uncontrollable tears when a dog barks.

Welcome, dear reader, to Central Florida, land of unwanted pit bulls. Shelters are filled with them. And it’s become politically incorrect to suggest that these marvelous puppies might rip your face off. Too bad: they can and sometimes do.

Nobody keeps very reliable dog-bite statistics, but using newspaper accounts of death by dog, DogsBite.org calculated that 232 people were killed by pit bulls or their mixes between 2005 and 2015, accounting for 64 percent of all deaths though they make up only 6.6 percent of all dogs in the U.S.

In Lake County, animal-rights folks are pressuring the shelter to go “no-kill,” which means that 90 percent of the animals leave alive. In January, the shelter hit 86 percent.

Big Man, however, left dead, and he should have departed to doggie heaven long before he got his teeth into Luhrs.

Grant said a worker told the couple Big Man was “the shelter favorite” because of his calm demeanor, and she mentioned no problems.

Um, no. Just no. County records show four documented aggressive incidents of threatening shelter workers, including one in which he threw himself at a chain-link fence and gnawed it to get to the person on the other side.

He’d been marked for euthanasia and yet, there he was — loose in a room without an effective rabies shot with a pregnant woman. How did that even happen?

County officials refuse to explain because the couple plans to sue.

Since the county took over animal control last month from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, dogs are evaluated “on a more holistic assessment,” said Brian Sheahan, director of the county’s Community Safety & Compliance Department.

“There is no switch,” that sends an intermittently-aggressive dog such as Big Man to its death, he said.

There needs to be. This is a foolhardy gamble to save a dog at the expense of a human being and to jack up the “leave live” numbers. Safety of the public must come first.

Sunday, February 12, 2017

United Kingdom: GUILTY! Jamie-Leigh Williams, 20, was videotaped chasing her cowering Rottweiler around her apartment and beating it. She claimed it tried to attack her but the video proved otherwise.

UNITED KINGDOM -- An eight-month pregnant woman caught on camera battering her dog claims she only did so because it was trying to savage her stomach.

Jamie-Leigh Williams, 20, was today banned from owning any animal for the next five years after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to five-year-old Lennox by hitting and kicking him.

The RSPCA brought charges against the mum-of-one after disturbing footage of the incident at her home in Oldham last November appeared on social media.

It had been filmed by a man who Miss Williams had allowed to stay at her home for a few days.

Tameside Magistrates Court heard how Miss Williams and her former partner had taken in the dog several months earlier after being told it would be put down if no new owner was found.

It was claimed that during this time, the dog became increasingly aggressive, and several calls were made to police, dog homes and the RSPCA to try and rehome him.

Defending, Christopher Squibbs said that on the day of the incident Lennox had been 'snarling at her stomach'. He told the bench: 'The defendant clearly lost her temper towards the dog. It wasn't her finest hour, but she is remorseful.'

Mark Harper, prosecuting on behalf of the RSPCA, said that inspectors who had examined found Lennox to be alert and active, a friendly dog that had thankfully suffered no lasting injuries.

Magistrates also imposed a 12-month community order, £385 fine, and ordered Miss Williams to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

Speaking after the hearing she said: 'I shouldn't have done what I did. I hold my hands up and admit it was wrong, but at the time I was scared, and thought I was doing what anyone else in that situation would to protect themselves and their baby.

'What you don't hear in the video clip is that before that I had been screaming for the police to be called because the dog had been trying to go for me.

'Neighbors had heard him barking and growling and because they know what he's like they'd come round to check on me.

'As I shut the door, Lennox jumped up on my back, his paws were scratching my lower back and putting pressure onto my stomach, he was that heavy I was pushed against the door. I managed to get him off, and tried to get into the living room to my phone but he was in the doorway snarling.

'I was terrified. I started talking to him, like you would a baby, and it calmed him down enough to put the muzzle on him, but I hate the things so didn't put it on tight and he kept getting out of it.

'I went to put it back on and he snapped at me, I then started to get pains in my stomach and keeled over, I was shouting for help but I realise now the whole thing was just being filmed.

'I kicked Lennox, but what you don't see is that his mouth was around my foot and I was trying to get him off me, I then picked up the first thing I saw which was a sweet box and I hit him. I just snapped.'

Immediately after the incident, Miss Williams locked Lennox in a room and called her mum, who then got another family member to collect the dog.

Here, the dog manages to get away
from her but she chases it down the hallway
and continues to kick and beat the dog

The court heard the following morning she went into early labour. Doctors managed to slow things down and she gave birth to a healthy baby girl a few weeks later.

Miss Williams says that as a result of the video being shared, she has lost her friends, and has been verbally abused in the street.

'I won't walk anywhere or use public transport, I'm scared to go out. I just want this all to be over. I know what I did was wrong and if I could take it back I would.'
