Texas: Woman says Pit Bulls which attacked her husband were 'trained to be mean' and insists 'not all Pit Bulls are bad'

TEXAS -- Gina Thompson posted on Facebook January 3 at 1:56pm ·

Guys we need your help! Dan has been bitten by a dog this morning really bad. He was on the corner of 1995 and 422 (close to the Garden Valley Golf Course), he saw a man in a newer model gray Chevrolet truck (the man has a bald head) trying to round up 3 puppies out of the road so Dan stopped to try to help him round them up.

As soon as Dan stepped out of the car one ran and attacked him. Dan hollered to the man that they looked like Pit bulls and the man said no they aren't pit bulls they are mini bullys but he had also said they weren't his dogs so how did he know what the breed was and why was he able to throw them up in his truck without them biting him???? He had the nerve to tell Dan as he was leaving that Dan must have reminded the dog of someone he didn't like. HE KNEW IT HAD BITTEN DAN BUT JUST DROVE OFF. The dog also had a HUGE chain around his neck.

Guys he's raising mean dogs that will ATTACK unprovoked so if you have kids in that area please be aware those dogs are running loose. The animal control for Smith county said we aren't the first call, they have gotten several calls on these dogs. If you know who this might have been please let us know....we just need to know they have had their shots so Dan doesn't have to do rabies treatment! NOTICE IT PUNCTURED DAN'S LEG THRU A PAIR OF JEANS AND A PAIR OF JOGGING PANTS!!! HE HAD TO CLIMB ON TOP OF THE CAR TO GET AWAY FROM THE DOG!!!! If you know who this might be and you don't want to say out on the wall message me in a private message we just need to know so we don't have to pay for treatment that isn't nesessaty.

Ohio: Victor Vallejo Sr. facing Animal Cruelty charge after his Pit Bull was found dead on porch, curled up in a ball and "frozen solid"

OHIO -- The Toledo Area Humane Society is investigating the death of a dog in central Toledo that was found outside and “frozen solid.”

The female dog had died after curling up on the front porch of a house at 1057 King Street.

“I don’t know how long she was out there,” Megan Brown, a cruelty investigator with the humane society, said. “She was frozen solid.”

The recorded low temperature the night of Dec 28th in Toledo, Ohio was -8 °F.

Ms. Brown said an underweight male dog was inside the house. She saw him through a window and seized him that afternoon after obtaining a search warrant.

“He was visibly shivering,” Ms. Brown said, adding that his ribs and spine are prominent and the house was very cold.

Contacted by The Blade on Thursday afternoon, Victor Vallejo Sr., 40, said the dogs are his and added he was unaware of any issues. He said he last saw them two or three days ago and left them both inside.

The utilities to the house were recently shut off, he said.

“I wasn’t staying there, but I was going back and forth and feeding them. They had plenty of food and water,” he said. “I’ve been staying here and there at the moment. I kind of fell on some bad times.”

So he locked them inside an unheated house that, based on the looks of it, has 40-year old insulation and 40-year old single-pane windows - the kind you have to put plastic up in the winter to try to keep the cold out. Then he says he only goes by every "two or three days" to bring them food and water. So for "two or three days" at a time they're starving.

Meanwhile, he looks well-fed and certainly doesn't look like he's been sleeping on the freezing streets.

CAN'T PAY HIS BILLS, WANTS TO BREED PIT BULLS
He said both are American bullies (aka Pit Bulls). The 3-year-old female was named Nanas, while the 4-year-old male is Haze. He said claims he loves his dogs, paid a lot of money for them, and intended to breed them.

Mr. Vallejo said he isn’t sure how Nanas got outside.

“I don’t know how they would have got out,” he said. “Everything was locked up tight.”

Ms. Brown said neither dog had any food or water, and Nanas was in the fenced front yard. There were blankets and a pillow on the porch, which had a roof, but no shelter from the bitter temperatures.

“She didn’t appear to be in poor health, but it’s hard to tell when she’s curled up and frozen,” Ms. Brown said.

Mr. Vallejo said Nanas had gotten loose in August. Records from the Lucas County Canine Care & Control show she was taken to the county shelter by a citizen Sept. 21 as a stray.

An initial medical evaluation there noted Nanas had fleas and swollen ears but seemed otherwise healthy. Mr. Vallejo reclaimed her the following day and purchased a 2017 license for her.

Mr. Vallejo said claims when he got her back, she had lost weight and was sick. He said he hadn’t yet been able to get her back to full health.

OK so that was in September... three months ago. He just admitted he never took her to the vet despite his allegation that she "had lost weight and was sick" the entire three months.

CITED TO COURT, DIDN'T BOTHER TO SHOW UP
Nanas was seen by a canine control officer Oct. 22 running loose on King Street, but Mr. Vallejo contained her while the officer was there. He was cited for a dog running at large and has a bench warrant from Toledo Municipal Court for failing to appear for a hearing on the citation.

Ms. Brown said other than being underweight, Haze appears OK.

“He looks to be pretty good,” Ms. Brown said. “He’s sweet. He was malnourished and dehydrated, but I think he’ll be fine.”

She said the humane society is pursuing possible animal cruelty charges in Toledo Municipal Court.

"American Bully" breeders try to convince police their puppies are worth $2,500 each

MASSACHUSETTS -- Two masked robbers pistol-whipped a man outside his home here on Tuesday night and assaulted his female companion before making off with a pair of the couple’s valuable American Bully puppies, in a calculated attack that sent the man to a hospital and left another dog with serious injuries, police said.

The assailants hid in a wooded area near 8 Witter St. until about 9:30 p.m., when they rushed the man, who is in his 30s and whom they apparently know, in his driveway and struck him in the head several times before snatching the keys to his house, according to Auburn police.

Once inside, the masked men assaulted a woman who lives in the home and stole two week-old American Bully puppies, which can sell for up to $5,000, police and a staffer with the American Bully Kennel Club said.

“The suspects also kicked and stomped the couple’s Pomeranian, causing possibly life-threatening injuries to that dog, before fleeing back into the woods” with the American Bully pups, Auburn police said in a statement.

During a briefing Wednesday, police Chief Andrew J. Sluckis Jr. said investigators were not sure if stealing the puppies, which were among a litter of eight, was the primary motive for the crime.

He said the robbers grabbed the woman’s hair and pushed her around inside the home, though she was not seriously hurt. Police did not identify the couple and said Wednesday afternoon that the man had been released from a Worcester hospital.

Detectives plan to interview him on Thursday.

Sluckis said physical evidence recovered at the crime scene shows a “direct correlation” between the two attackers and the male victim, though he did not elaborate.

The couple had planned to sell the two puppies for up to $2,500 each, Sluckis said, adding that police are investigating whether they operated an unlicensed dog breeding business in the residence.

The victims could not be reached for comment on Wednesday. The woman placed a sheet on the front door of the couple’s two-story home and refused to speak with reporters. A few large cages were visible in the back yard, which was surrounded by a fence.

Neighbors said the victims moved to the street within recent years and described them as quiet people who generally keep to themselves.

“I know everybody in this neighborhood except for them,” said Julie Lauzon, who has lived on nearby Main Street for the past 15 years. Lauzon said she heard yelling at about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday but thought nothing of it, until several police cruisers arrived.

Cristy Silun, who lives next door to the couple, said she knows the man as Johnny.

Rob Halpin, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said his group is not involved in the investigation. He cautioned that people who sell pets online often are not forthcoming about how their animals are bred and kept, and he encouraged people to consider adopting pets before purchasing them.

The American Bully Kennel Club says on its website that the dogs are “compact and medium/large size . . . with a muscular body and blocky head.” The breed was created in 1990 and exhibits “confidence” and “a zest for life,” the site says.
