TEXAS -- A San Antonio Police Department officer was attacked by two dogs on the West Side Tuesday afternoon.
The officer was responding to a call about criminal mischief in the 500 block of South San Eduardo around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday when he was attacked.
Officials say the dogs, a pit bull and a shepherd mix, belong to the woman who contacted police. The dogs were apparently contained in a gated area but got loose.
The officer was bitten on the chin, arm, and leg. He was treated at the scene and is expected to be all right.
Animal Care Services workers were called to pick up the dogs. Both will be placed in quarantine to determine if either has rabies.
ACS is still investigating and will determine if any charges should be filed against the owner.
