Connecticut: Tyshawn Virtue, 33, charged with animal cruelty after shooting dog in the face during domestic dispute

CONNECTICUT -- A 33-year-old man was arrested after police said he shot a dog because he was angry about a domestic dispute in Hartford on Friday night.

Officers were called to a report of a dog in the area of 820 Wethersfield Ave. around 8:20 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a dog suffering from a gunshot wound to the jaw.

Police said they quickly put the dog into a cruiser and then, rushed to the animal to the New England Veterinary Center for "emergency medical attention." The dog was in "stable condition" and will require surgery, police said.

Detectives from the Focused Violence Reduction Team FVRT were called to the scene and determined that the suspect in the case was Hartford resident Tyshawn Virtue.

Virtue was located in the apartment on Wethersfield Avenue and officers seized 34 live 9mm rounds and a Safeguard bulletproof vest. Detectives recovered video surveillance footage of the shooting and seized a Hi Point Model C9 semi-automatic firearm containing five live 9mm rounds in a nearby wooded area.

Police said the Hi Point Model C9 semi-automatic firearm "was determined to have been discarded by Virtue after the shooting" and "believed the suspect shot the dog due to anger over the domestic dispute."

Virtue has previous firearm-related felony convictions.

He is charged with Criminal Possession Firearm, Criminal Possession Ammunition, Criminal Possession Body Armor, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment, Cruelty to Animals, Risk of Injury, and Violation of a Protective Order. He is was held on a $500,000 bond.

Virtue is expected to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Monday.

Tennessee: Pit Bull mauling Miniature Schnauzer isn't fazed when beaten with metal rods. Finally neighbor shoots Pit Bull five times. Schnauzer is released only to be grabbed again by the Pit Bull which, despite having five bullet holes in it, continues to maul the smaller dog

TENNESSEE -- A woman came to the front door screaming, "A Pit bull is attacking your dog!"

At first I really didn’t think it could be mine they are so friendly and passive and on my property. A pit bull running [loose in] the neighborhood grabbed Bocelli and was dragging him around like a rag doll.

Thankfully the neighbor guy and wife saw him being mauled and knew Bocelli.

They were throwing stuff at the pit-bull, hitting him with metal rods but it didn’t stop him, the man ran and got his gun shot him over 5x before he even let Bocelli go, then only let him get a few feet away and grabbed him again.

I ran around the front yard calling him, I ran back into the house hoping it wasn’t him but there he was standing there his little body covered in mud and blood and shaking so badly barely holding himself up. I scooped him up and ran to the shower so I could see the real damage.

Bocelli’s little body was shaking and he could not walk. You can see over 20 punctures marks all over his body. Apparently, pit bulls grab heads and shake little dogs until their little spines snap.

The Parkway Animal Clinic cleared a space for the emergency and treated Bocelli immediately. They gave him shots for infection and pain. They said Bocelli was very lucky, The pit came close to his eye but didn’t get it. I have posted pictures on his FB page. It also grabbed his penis and hind end area.

He didnt do well after the ER visit, and was back to 24/7 Overreach Animal Hospital to see a new Veternarian Dr Jill. She treated him with antibiotics and more pain meds and scheduled surgery for first thing in the morning.

You are encourage to visit the puppies Facebook page (@6pups) Miniature Schnauzer Puppies page where you can read, see the pictures, watch participate, send your love, positive healing energy for Bocelli. As you visit the page you will see the puppies are my life and happiness and to have this little man in such pain is just heart breaking. I have also shared his Veterinarian page so you can see and discuss with Dr Jill and her staff, your comments.

There has been an overwhelming support of love sent to him and I feel the only reason he is still alive which I am so very thankful.

The monies will go to the 3 ER visits, Surgery, 7 Plus medicines they have him on, follow ups to come and possible legal fees to find and hold accountable the owner of the Pitbull.

Be cautioned; the pics are graphic and FB supporters are as angry as I am and very upset as they share their very shocking and sad stories. Which you really cannot help when you see his little mangled body.

This is my first GoFundMe page and has been created at the request of the many people following his progress. Please be patient if I do something wrong or if you have questions as I am caring for my little man Bocelli 24/7 and he is my priority but I will respond. Of course your welcome and encouraged to get on FB.

Thank you
Margo; Bocelli’s companion

Well good news and maybe not so good. His belly and private parts are better than expected and the holes in his stomach / private part areas are not to many layers deep and still bleeding. Half of his face has been removed and has scars up under his ear and a tube in his face.

You can't even tell that this is the little guy's face

Dr. Jill hopes he won’t lose the whole surface of the rest of where the tube is as his face skin has been ripped away from the face structure. She could not cut out all the dead skin because there was not enough to close it back up. So you will see a long scar and tube and later pics of his hind and belly. I can’t lift his little leg now. He is still sedated.

She is worried about infection and now we have 5 medicines plus a cream and stuff I had to buy; triple antibiotic plus tube face flush. This is really just terrible, BUT.

I am More than grateful he is still alive and I am thankful for everyone’s prayers 🙏 and positive energy for Bocelli. He needs all the Love ❤️ he can for the next few critical days. Thank you

PLEASE EVERYONE...THIS IS A SAFE & GOOD CAUSE. This is to help Bocelli the Miniature Schnauzer (the 5 year old puppy of our Miniature Schnauzer Sally). He celebrated his 5th Birthday on Monday and was attacked by a vicious pit bull the very next day while standing in his own yard in Clarksville, Tenn.

I insisted that the owner Margaret P. Clarke start a GoFundMe page even though she felt very uncomfortable about asking for help; but after repeated calls & messages going unanswered by the area Animal Control near her home in Clarksville, Tenn., and any hope of finding the pit bull and his owner have fallen to deaf ears, she had no other recourse, than to ask for help with the extended expenses for this unexpected tragedy that will change little Bocelli's life forever.

There are well over 200 puncture wounds to Bocelli's little body and his face is so mangled they have a tube connected for drainage. If infection sets in he will lose even more of his sweet little face.

PLEASE go to the owners FB page or under Miniature Schnauzer Puppies page out of Clarksville, Tn. and see for yourself how much Bocelli will have to recover from. He's got a very long road ahead & many more trips to the Vet ahead of him all because the owner of a very aggressive, vicious animal did not control him and won't do the right thing & come forward to pay restitution.

ANY CONTRIBUTION YOU CAN MAKE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU!

Do to all the additional questions about his hind area I am going to post the pics that I have taken without moving him too much.

He has well over well over 20 puncture wounds on his body. He is still just laying. I’ve tried to feed him: can dog food, rotisserie chicken, 5 different kinds of his favorite treats, he just is not interested in anything yet.

5 days no real food. Thankfully the vet had giving him IVs. He is normally a light eater and thin. Maybe tomorrow. He has been laying and very calm all day. I put the medicine on some of the puncture wounds and flushed the tube.

No word yet on the Pit Bull. No contact at all from my many calls to Animal Control nor my email.

Thank you everyone and I know this is emotionally draining but please Please continue praying. . I am very happy to have the surgery over, have him home and on the bumpy road to recovery.

Oklahoma: Let's play guess the breed! What kind of dog routinely attacks livestock, shredding their faces and ripping their ears off? Hmm...

OKLAHOMA -- Viciously attacked, a pony in Jones is down but not out.

Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue has been caring for her since they got the call a few days ago.

The horse is now without ears after being attacked by dogs, but her recovery is in full swing.

“They was looking for someone to assist with the pony because there was going to be a lot of vet care medical needs required for it,” Natalie Cross, owner of the rescue, told KOCO.

And that's just what she is getting.

She's being stitched and wrapped up, and in the very beginning phase of recovery.

“You can see every day she feels better each day,” Cross said. “The head wounds would probably take six months.”

And while Cross says they don't know what kind of dogs attacked the pony, their owner did get rid of them.

“It's my understanding that the owner has taken the dogs into the pound to be humanely euthanized,” Cross said.

From other sites, they're saying that the pony was attacked and this unnamed woman waited FOUR DAYS before finally calling someone for assistance. Was she waiting those four days so she could rid herself of the dogs - likely Pit Bulls or Pit Bull mixes? We'll see.. she needs to be charged with Animal Cruelty for leaving this pony to suffer for FOUR DAYS before finally seeking needed veterinary care for it.

I really felt that Rudy was a case we would only see once in our lifetime! Sadly, here we are, repeating everything we went through almost 3 years ago, now with this sweet little girl, who we will affectionately call Ruby!

Extensive injuries to her ears, mouth and legs. This poor girl was attacked by dogs! Rudy was a lesson that has greatly prepared us for this journey with Ruby! Please send prayers for this sweet girl! Of course, Donations are greatly appreciated for her medical expenses also.

Thank you to our wonderful Veterinarian Dr. Amanda Wilson and her tech Mackenzie for getting here so quickly to start the process of rehabilitation. We have a long road ahead of us.

If you don't remember Rudy's story or are new to our page, you can see Rudy's journey here. Although I haven't been able to update his page since last year, I assure you, he is still the happy, healthy Diva he has always been!

Stacy Ray-Dames - Any clues to where the dogs are or where they are from? Seeking any legal action? There has to be someone accountable for this.

Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue, Inc. - No, not yet. The dogs were owned by the same person that owned the horse.... no vet care for 4 days. This is truly a terrible situation.

Sebetha Orlovetz - THIS is the type of case that should use the law that Gary Dassinger is fighting in... N or S Dakota? I can't remember. Our judicial system is so damn whacked. Owners need to be prosecuted. And, I never said it before, but the dogs need to be euthanized. I don't feel like rehabbing something that can do this kind of damage to another known animal will ever be safe.

Jolanda Poland - pit bulls?

Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue, Inc. - We don't know the breed, Jolanda.

Jolanda Poland - looks to me because not many other breeds do this type of damages, i hope she soon recovers from her ordeal

Jolanda called it. This is EXACTLY what Pit Bulls do!
