FLORIDA -- A police officer shot and killed an attacking pit bull after the dog bit the officer on the hand and leg, police said Tuesday.
Officer Manny Marino was looking into a complaint that four pit bulls were loose on the 5600 block of Atlanta Street, said Detective Carlos Negron, a police spokesman.
Three of the dogs had been caught by the time Marino arrived. The fourth attacked him, Negron said.
Marino's injuries were described as minor, and he was treated at the scene. He refused hospital treatment, Negron said.
