Alabama: Stacey Jordan says she's a rescuer, brings a Pit Bull home; it attacks the neighbor's Poodle

NORTHPORT, ALABAMA -- A woman who has been running a dog rescue out of her home said she's shutting down her operation after allegedly receiving threats.

And she's telling her side after one of her Pit Bulls attacked and viciously mauled her neighbor's pet.

Stacey Jordan has been fostering dogs out of her home for nearly 5 years. But after recent events, Jordan said she's closing up shop.

“People talking about driving by and shooting the dogs in my yard. I can't continue to do this community service and have my life threatened,” said Jordan, who says she's the director of "Southern Paws Animal Rescue".

Jordan said this has been going on since one of her dogs attacked a neighbor's pet.

But she told us she's not completely to blame, sharing this surveillance video of a boy going to her yard and letting her pit bull out before the attack.

“I am not without concern for the safety of my neighbors and the safety of their pets. I'm not going to say I'm without fault or without mistakes but I've made every effort possible to correct,” said Jordan.

She said she got collars to prevent her dogs from barking so much and an electric fence to keep them in her yard. “We've also enrolled them in a training program,” said Jordan.

A former rescue worker of Jordan's said conditions were poor at her previous rescue site.

“Twenty and 30 dogs sometimes in a neighborhood residential. These people are afraid. If you're going to run something, run it right. Run it safely. You can't have vicious dogs on your property,” said Darlene Richardson.

Jordan said all she wanted to do is help animals. “I look at those little faces and I know that if I don't take them, they are going to end up having something bad happen to them,” said Jordan.

Her statement right there is your red flag. She thinks only she can save them, including the vicious Pit Bull that nearly killed her neighbor's Poodle.

Northport has an ordinance which states: you can have 3 dogs per enclosure  that's within 50 feet of another home but it doesn't specify the total number of dogs one can have.

Northport city leaders said they are taking a closer look at the rule.

New York: While asking for money for their badly mauled Poodle, owner tells us that it breaks his heart that Pit Bulls have a 'bad rap" as it is

NEW YORK -- Our dog Bella is a rescue who shows nothing but love to our family. Late last night she was attacked by a Pit bull who had a history of going after other dogs.  Bella has wounds around her eye and by her chest, which thankfully didn’t reach her lungs but the worst part is her badly fractured jaw.

We need your help raising money in hopes of life saving jaw surgery. Anything is appreciated, we just don’t want to lose our Bella like this!

Update 1
Our baby pup is out of surgery! Thankfully they were able to take care of her jaw and don’t think it’ll have any long term affects after its 6 weeks of healing. The gash on her side will just need to be flushed of fluids every few days. Unfortunately her left eye had ruptured and needed to be removed.

She’s in recovery but we have a long road ahead of us and our Bella is going to have some adjusting to do. Any small amount to continue to cover her care is greatly appreciated, you truly have no idea how much it means to us. We thank everyone (x1000000) who has donated to help us cover the veterinary bills

Update 2
Bella’s got a bag to drain any fluid for her gash, she has tape to keep her jaw closed for 6 weeks with just enough room to be able to eat, drink and give us her kisses which she loves to do. She’s eating well, taking her meds and already wants to run all over which we sadly have to keep her from doing.

Thankfully, the total was a little lower than vets initially said and came to around $4,700. We still have to take her back a few times which is gonna cost us a bit and she’s eating special food for post op. But anything more is just an extra wonderful bonus at this point to help us pay off the loan and make sure we can give her the best recovery options.

Also spreading the word and getting people to realize that you have to give proper love and attention to your animals especially pit bulls because they already have a bad rep as is and it breaks our heart.

Thank you thank you!

Florida: Boy recovering after pit bull attack in North Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- A boy is recovering at the hospital after, his father said, he was attacked by his neighbor’s pit bull in North Lauderdale, Wednesday afternoon.

Ten-year-old Noah Curiel suffered serious injuries to his head, face and ear, but a photo shows the boy smiling as he sat in his hospital bed at Broward Health Medical Center shortly after he underwent surgery.

His father, Dagmar Curiel, said the boy got the injuries after his ball accidentally bounced into the neighbor’s yard.

“He went to the house and knocked on the lady’s house, and the lady let him into the house,” said the elder Curiel.

What the boy didn’t know was that his neighbor’s pit bull had not been put away, even though she claims she did.

The boy lives here, next door to the Pit Bull

“Someway, somehow, the dog just came loose and attacked my son,” he said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident in partnership with Animal Control. They claim they have not been able to contact the pit bull’s owner.

A 7News crew knocked on the owner’s front door on Friday, but the person inside refused to answer the door. When asked through a window whether she knew anything about the attack, she told the news crew to leave.

The Pit Bull owner has been hiding from authorities.

The boy’s father said he just wants the pit bull’s owner to take responsibility for what happened and to make sure it’s safe for his son when he returns home from the hospital.

“I go there at nighttime and stay with him,” said Curiel. “He looks OK, the swelling’s going down. He’s going to need some plastic surgery.”

Doctors said the boy may have to undergo a number of other surgeries in the days and weeks to come. He is expected to be released from the hospital within the next several days.

Florida: Pit Bull ran up, grabbed woman's small dog and tried to break its neck by thrashing it around

FLORIDA -- My dog's name is Midnight, he is 2 years old and was on his leash outside when a pit bull ran up and attacked him and snapped his leash in two.

The pit bull has my dog in his mouth and shook my dog around rapidly like a rag doll.

I rushed my dog to the pet ER where they determined that he has a Pneumothorax which is air (that shouldn’t be there) around his heart and lungs. It’s the most air that the vet has ever seen on an X-ray of a dog!!!!! The amount of air is so significant that he’s in respiratory distress so he’s now on oxygen.

There are no visible puncture wounds so they are trying to determine the internal damage that’s causing the pneumothorax. They are aspirating the air and going to re X-ray him. If the air comes back and accumulates then I’d have to go to a specialist and have a chest tube out in while they do exploratory surgery. If the air does not come back he’ll remain with them overnight and remain on oxygen and pain meds.

As of now the bill is already $2,200!!! If he needs to see a specialist or needs the chest tube it will be more. This dog is our family’s baby we love him like a child. My kids are so emotionally attached to Midnight. ANY DONATIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED EVEN IF ITS ONLY A DOLLAR EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS !!! IF YOU CANT DONATE I UNDERSTAND BUT IF YOU COULD PRAY INSTEAD THAT WOULD BE A BLESSING

Update 1
Midnights doing better thank God!! They were able to aspirate most of the pneumothorax and he does not need a chest tube nor does he have to see a specialist. His bill though is still well over $2k and were still trying to help raise the funds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Connecticut: Pit Bull Shot After Attacking Man In Fairfield County

BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT -- A Bridgeport police officer was forced to shoot a dog Tuesday evening after it severely mauled a man in the middle of a domestic dispute, said Bridgeport officials.

The incident, which took place at 127 Polk Street,  occurred when a pit bull began attacking the man who was having a domestic dispute and officers were called, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

"One of our police officers had to shoot the dog to stop the attack," Harris said.

According to Harris, the dog was still alive Tuesday evening, but he was not sure of its condition.

The man was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.

(March 2018) Florida: Boy, 13, who'd played with his friend's Pit Bull on previous occasions, is suddenly mauled by it

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA -- A 13-year-old boy is recuperating at home after being attacked by his friends’ dog named Ace.

On Thursday, the teenager was playing basketball with friends on St. Andrews Drive around 6 p.m.

When one of the kids that lived in the home opened the door, Ace ran out and approached the 13-year-old, deputies said.

The boy who’s familiar with the dog, bent over to pet it. However when the dog started growling, the teen tossed the ball to Ace thinking the dog wanted the ball.

Instead of running after the ball, the Pit Bull began mauling him.

The boy was bitten at least 25 times, his father Brian Keegan said. The boy’s hand is in need of reconstructive surgery.

According to Keegan, it’s going to take months for the teen to be back to normal. Also, since the dog owner failed to provide up-to-date rabies vaccine records, the teen is going through rabies injection treatment.

“On his right side there is a big chunk that was taken out,” Keegan said.

AUTHORITIES DID NOTHING AS PIT BULL KEPT ATTACKING
Tod Goodyear from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office dug up the dogs past.

In 2015, the same Pit Bull bit for the first time. Two years later, in 2017, it attacked again, biting a person.

Shortly after the attack the owner surrender the dog to Animal Services and it is now in quarantine.

“This is something where the dog got lose and unfortunately it bit someone,” Goodyear said.

The dog owner will have to pay hundreds of dollars for four citations including not being able to produce current rabies vaccine documentation and for the dog biting someone causing severe injury.

If the dog is deemed dangerous, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office officials say, the Pit Bull might be euthanized.

So the owner gets to have a dog that for three years continues to attack people and pets. Then, after the latest, most vicious attack, the owner gets to surrender the dog, with no criminal charges, and is free to go on craigslist and buy another Pit Bull today. This is lazy policing. What about all the victims? If I were this boy's parent, I'd be suing for the police's failure to protect their son from being mauled by a known vicious dog.

Oklahoma: Woman uses taser on attacking Pit Bull, saving her English Bulldog's life

OKLAHOMA -- Karen Mccoy-hefner posted on Facebook March 22, 2018 · Holdenville, OK ·

I take my dog walking every evening. I have every since I moved here over a year ago. I carry a taser with me every evening. Well thank you Lord because tonight Spanky got attacked by a pit bull.

I saw this dog jump the fence, run across the street, I'm trying to get my taser out of my pocket. Just as I get it out he hits Spanky so hard he knocks him into the ditch.

Spanky is on his back and this dog has him by the neck and he's starting to shake his head back and forth.

I start screaming and start tasing him. I [zapped] the Pit Bull maybe 3 or 4 times and he finally let's go and runs off.

This scared the living daylights out of me y'all.

Oh Lord I thank you for giving me the sense to carry this taser with me, cause if I wouldn't have had it Spanky would either be dead or in the hospital and maybe me too who knows.

So thank God for watching over us and protecting us.

Tiffani Wood Howard - Omg so scary ! Did the pits people come out?

Karen Mccoy-hefner - Yes after it was over. And argued with me about how it wasn't their fault. It was just ridiculous

Tiffani Wood Howard And maybe you should get a dog stick too.

Karen Mccoy-hefner I wouldn't have gotten him to let go with a stick. That's why I'm saying thank God I had that taser.

I talked to em right after it happened for ten minutes and the lady owner denied that it was her fault. She said "I had him chained up. I can't help it if he broke his leash. That's not my fault."
