Russia: Oksana and Alexander Urusov abandoned their little dog, locked inside a carry bag, to die in freezing temperatures at the airport

RUSSIA -- Oksana and Alexander Urusov wanted to take loyal pooch Tori with them on their trip to Germany but at check-in were told they had failed to complete the necessary paperwork in time.

Mr Urasov then walked the animal outside the terminal at Russia’s Yekaterinburg airport, and left the small pet shivering inside a dog carry bag in temperatures as cold as minus 30C.

Three days later Tori was found dead.

The couple were flying to Hamburg to see their children who were staying with their grandmother.

It took them three days to report the dog as being abandoned and animal protection volunteers went to look for Tori.

Mrs Urusov admitted calling them because her children were distraught over the fate of their pet.

“We are looking for our little dog, she is white with a flick of ginger,” she appealed to a website.

“Our children can’t stop crying, please can you help?

“We’re ready to pay a fine. We had to leave her at the airport… they didn’t take her on board at check-in when we were flying to Hamburg to see our children.”

Yet the dog – found frozen to death three days later – was left in a part of the airport where people rarely go.

Activists who rushed to the airport initially could not find it.

Dmitry Tyukhtin, spokesman for Koltsovo airport in Yekaterinburg, said he “could not believe a human could do that to a dog”.

He criticised the owners for not seeking help from the airport.

“If only we knew about the problem, at least the dog would be alive. The weather was so cold on those days. Tori was left in an area where there are usually no people.

“If she was to be left closer to or inside the terminal, the dog would have been rescued.”

The couple had been advised by the check-in clerk to leave the dog with a friend, or postpone their flights for a day to obtain the documents.

“After that, the man left the building with the dog on a leash, and came back without the dog,” said one local account.

“When the couple returned to the check-in, staff asked them if they managed to solve the problem with the dog. Alexander replied that they passed it to a friend.”

A petition demanding the couple are brought to justice has been signed by more than 7,000 locals.

The story has gone viral in Russia and furious comments call for them to be “punished” and “jailed” with their children taken away from them.

They are “such idiots to have left the animal when it is freezing,” said Viktoria Milovanova.

“I wish they could stayed outside themselves. Animals are not toys, they are living creatures, they feel pain, cold and fear just as people do.”

Olesya Khoroshilova wrote: “Such people are sick and dangerous not only for animals but the whole society”.

Tatiana Maslennikova said: “I wish somebody would take this woman – the dog owner – to an abandoned place and leave her in the freezing weather alone without a mobile, food and water. Let her feel what her dog felt.”

Another woman wrote: “They deserve to spend their life in jail. Someone should take the kids away from them. They are terrible parents.”

Russia: After police refused to do their jobs, neighbors rescue dog being abused by his owner

RUSSIA -- A dog which was kept as a 'sex slave' and repeatedly sodomized by its owner has now been rescued by animal rights activists.

Locals in Salavat, Russia, called the cops when the sick man was spotted brazenly raping his poor pit bull in a local park.

But when the police refused to intervene, the concerned neighbors contacted animal rights activists who kidnapped the pooch when the depraved owner took it for a walk – and rushed the vulnerable hound to a vet.

The dog, also known as a Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier, has undergone three operations after being diagnosed with severe internal injuries.

Veterinary doctor Aynur Makaev said that he operated on the pooch for almost three hours and that his team had considered putting him to sleep, but they decided to complete the operation and see if the animal recovered.

He said: "The rectum had deformations which could have formed if it was stretched from the inside."

Animal-rights activist Elena Zhdanova is now caring for the dog called Ramzes and said he was doing well.

She said: "He is really getting better. He regained his appetite and finally managed to relieve himself as well."

According to Zhdanova, after the video and pictures of the wounded dog went viral, the police arrested and questioned the owner.

However prosecutors decided not to press charges against the man and instead have fined him just £30 for offending public decency when he had sex with the dog in the park.

Another animal rights activist Marina Yusupova has started a petition on popular web platform change.org demanding that the man who attacked Ramzes be locked up, before he gets a new pet to sodomize.

Already 9,000 people have signed the petition.

Cat drags itself to a house and 'cries' for help after Russian thug shoots it with an arrow and paralyzes its back legs

RUSSIA -- Residents fear that a sadistic killer is on the loose after three brutal assaults on animals have taken place in a single town - and some worry that the perpetrator may target a human being next.

The latest horrific attack was reported by Tamara Yerofeeva, 65, who opened her front door to find a stray cat 'screeching' for help with an arrow through its body.

The tomcat, whose back legs had been paralysed in the attack, had used its two front legs to drag itself to her door and meow for help.

'I heard this awful screeching noise outside the front door and opened it to find out what it was,' she said.

'I saw the orange cat lying on the porch with an arrow sticking out of it and blood on the ground.  I called police quickly because I thought the madman might still be around and might take a shot at me, and they took it to a vet.'

Police officers in the town of Kaluga, western Russia, say they are focused on hunting down the person who shot the arrow, and are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

The local community has rallied around the cat. After the attack was reported in local media, donations to pay for surgery flooded in.

Specialist surgeons were able to successfully remove the arrow, which had pierced both of the cat's lungs and his diaphragm, and it has recovered the use of all four legs.

Yerofeeva said: 'Although he is a stray, everybody in the neighbourhood likes him, or so we thought.
'He is very sweet and tender. I can`t imagine who could possibly do something like this. And if he can shoot a cat, is there not a risk person might be next?'

Illya Melnikov, 45, who was one of those who donated money, said it was not the first time in recent weeks that an animal had been tortured and almost killed.

She said: 'Someone left an injured puppy tied to a tree in the woods, and we also found a cat in a cage which had been dumped. In both cases the injured animals were only found by chance.'

Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
