California: Police say Nathan Flores tortured, choked and tried to drown a puppy

This evening officers arrested Nathan Flores for animal cruelty.

Flores found a dog in the Fresno River, abandoned. Flores was later seen by neighbors choking the little puppy and holding the puppy under running water from a faucet. The puppy was having trouble breathing as it was trying to cry. 

We were able to save the puppy and dry him from the cold water. 

Flores was transported and booked into MCDOC and the dog was placed in the animal shelter. If anyone would like to adopt this beautiful little puppy feel free to contact the animal shelter for information. The phone number to the animal shelter is 559-675-7891. SB3372

The owners of the puppy have come forward and reported the puppy was stolen from the porch of their residence.

United Kingdom: Shad’a McQueen stabbed her dog several times, slit its throat then left it to slowly die in agony. The judge gave her probation

UNITED KINGDOM -- A woman who slit her dog’s throat after going on a booze binge has been banned from owning an animal again.

Shad’a McQueen attacked her pet bull dog on October 29 last year after a night out drinking with an ex-girlfriend, Croydon Magistrates Court heard this week.

The 33-year-old armed herself with a knife and set upon her pet dog at her home in South Norwood in south London, stabbing it several times in the body. The court heard how she then used the same knife to slash the dog’s throat.

She then called the police and when officers arrived, the female dog was found to be ‘close to death’ and was taken to a vet and put down.

GIVEN PROBATION FOR HORRIFIC CRIME
McQueen pleaded guilty to stabbing her dog and causing the pet unnecessary suffering and was handed a four-month jail term, suspended for 18 months. She was also ordered to do 60 hours of unpaid work and was banned from owning animals for an indefinite period.

Judge Susan Holden told McQueen that ‘no animal’ should have to ‘go through what your dog was put through’. She added: ‘This is a deeply distressing case. ‘It’s clear that your dog must have suffered unnecessarily.’

Despite the courts stating that she was banned from owning animals for "an indefinite period", they immediately told her she could go visit her other dog. That would be the one she didn't stab repeatedly and then slit its throat, leaving it lying there in agony, slowly dying. 

When sentenced at Croydon Magistrates’ Court, the 33-year-old found out she may one day be able to own a dog again.

She walked free from court and was told she will be able to visit her other, shared pet dog - if accompanied - who she owns along with an ex-girlfriend.

Missouri: Kyle Williams, 18, and Jordan Hall, 19, are jailed for four years after posting a video of themselves laughing while killing a kitten by dragging it behind their car

MISSOURI -- Two Missouri men who sparked outrage by tying a kitten to a car's bumper and dragging it to its death were sentenced Friday to prison.

Kyle Williams, 18, also from Branson, was sentenced to four years for animal abuse and three years for armed criminal action, to be served consecutively after posting footage of his cat's death to Facebook.

Jordan Hall, 19, of Branson was also sentenced to four years behind bars for animal abuse.

 

 

According to the Taney County, Missouri prosecutor's office, Williams will also serve five years for 'possession of a weapon in a county jail, relating to the sharpening of a spork into a 'shank'.'

The two had plead guilty to animal abuse charges, after the horrifying incident. 
It started last June when, according to court documents, a video was posted to a private Facebook group.

'Keep going. Don't stop. He's almost dead.'
The video shows a gold Jeep accelerating while people laugh and watch the kitten's plight, with one person filming the incident from the trunk.

The kitten's tiny legs couldn't keep up with the SUV, and after being dragged for several laps, the little animal lay dead on the asphalt.

"Dude, kill his ass," one person says in the video after the cat appears to lose strength and start bleeding.

At one point, the vehicle stops, and the people behind the camera discuss the "semi-alive" kitten's vitality and whether to "slam (the cat) into the ground, kill him."

"Should we put him out of his misery?" one person asks.

In response, the vehicle speeds up and the laughs start again.

Later in the video, the SUV stops and starts once more. A person in the trunk can be seen jerking on the rope so the kitten goes airborne and bounces off the pavement.

The kitten was in bad shape at the end of the video. Before the camera cuts off, one person continues jerking the rope to move the dying cat's head up and down like a macabre marionette.

"Shake your head for me if you're dead," the person says.

The video showing the torture death of the cat is nearly five minutes long.

According to the Kansas City Star, members of the group Cellulites: Salvation 'were furious after he allegedly posted a photo of himself next to the tortured, bloodied kitten, one eye popped out of its head, the newspaper reported.

The caption allegedly read, 'Try to guess how I killed my cat, bet you can't.'

Members of the private group then figured out who Williams was through his social media activity, and contacted police. 

'He posted it in the wrong group,' one group member wrote. 'Animal cruelty is not okay.'

 

 

 

After the sentencing, Taney County prosecutor, Jeff Merell thanked the people who reported the crime, posting on Facebook.

He said: 'We are satisfied with the sentences handed down today by the Judge for this senseless act of depravity against a helpless kitten. We appreciate the help of good Samaritans in our digital community in reporting this crime as it might have gone unpunished without their assistance.'

California: Lucio Lopez accused of torturing kitten by locking her inside freezer, viciously squeezing her, then throwing her off balcony breaking her leg

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA -- A Fontana man has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after allegedly putting a kitten in his freezer and then throwing her off his balcony, leaving the cat with serious injuries, police said Tuesday.

Officers began investigating last Friday afternoon after receiving a report of a man assaulting a 3- to 4-month-old kitten in the 9200 block of Olive Street, according to a Fontana Police Department news release.

The man, identified as 34-year-old Lucio Lopez, alleged became angry with the feline for entering his apartment and locked the cat inside the freezer [for an undetermined amount of time], witnesses told police.

He is accused of later taking the small animal out of the freezer and squeezing her body “as the frightened kitten cried out in pain,” the release stated.

After, he allegedly threw the cat off a second-floor balcony, police said. The feline hit the concrete below and suffered major injuries to her chest and a fractured leg.

“The kitten is doing as well as could be, but will need surgery and much needed love,” the release said.

Lopez initially fled the scene but was apprehended by police as he drove in the area of Oleander and San Bernardino avenues, according to the release. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of animal cruelty and an outstanding warrant.

Fontana Police Department Animal Cruelty Arrest

On 02/06/18, at approximately 2:45 am, Fontana PD officers responded to an apartment complex in the 9200 block of Olive, regarding Lucio Lopez (34) assaulting a 3-4 month old kitten.

Lopez fled the scene before the initial officer arrived.  Officers canvased the area and located Lopez driving in the area of Oleander and San Bernardino.

An investigation revealed Lopez was upset with the kitten for entering the apartment. Witnesses reported Lopez placed the kitten in the freezer.  Lopez later took the kitten out of the freezer and began squeezing its body as the frightened kitten cried out in pain. Lopez threw the kitten off the second story balcony.  The kitten struck the concrete floor resulting in major injuries to its chest and a fractured leg.

Lopez was arrested by officers and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for animal cruelty and an outstanding warrant. Fontana Animal Services responded to the scene and transported the kitten to the veterinarian for emergency treatment.

The kitten is doing as well as could be, but will need surgery and much needed love.

Massachusetts: Future serial killer Miguel Medina, 22, sentenced to a year in the county jail for torturing and killing kittens "for fun"

MILFORD, MASSACHUSETTS -- A Massachusetts man accused of killing kittens because he was bored has been sentenced to a year in the county jail.

Authorities say Milford resident Miguel Medina threw one kitten into a wall and burned another in a fire pit, prompting his arrest last year. A witness told police Medina talked about killing kittens "for fun" when he was bored.

The Telegram & Gazette reports the 22-year-old Medina was convicted of killing or maiming an animal and animal cruelty. He will receive credit for the 100 days he already has spent in jail.

Medina has a history of criminal charges, including domestic assault on family members, destruction of property, vandalism and drug dealing.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

A man is facing several charges after allegedly viciously torturing and killing kittens that lived on a family farm at which he was staying.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, two officers were called to Ferrucci's Farm on Howard Street regarding an unwanted person on the property. Members of the Ferrucci family told police that Miguel Medina, who had been staying in a camper behind the farm, was threatening and bothering family members, and refused to leave.

Police walked up to the camper when Medina said, "I knew you guys were coming." Police asked him to leave the property, and he seemed very hesitant, according to a police report. Medina reportedly grabbed his belongings and left.

After he left, a member of the Ferrucci family told police that Medina had texted her that he had killed kittens that lived on the farm.

Police were shown text messages Medina sent in which he said he killed kittens on the farm, the document said


Another man on the scene said that Medina had told him about the killings, and invited him inside the camper to see.

"I had other kittens, but one bit my favorite kitten," Medina allegedly told the man, "... so I threw that kitten against the wall and then I put it under a table." 

Medina then reportedly showed the man the kitten bones under the table, and said, "Check this out. I burned this one yesterday!"

The witness told police that Medina showed him the charred body of the kitten in the fire pit and that he "talks heavily about kittens daily and admits to killing a couple a week for fun when he is bored." 

The witness brought police to the camper, where officers saw kitten bones "all over the grass."

Police also saw the burned kitten in the fire pit.

Police found Medina, whose home address is listed as Main Street, Milford, on Central Street and placed him under arrest. While booking Medina, he reportedly said, "I killed a kitten," while being finger-printed, said police.

Medina was charged with two counts of killing/maiming/poisoning an animal and one charge of animal cruelty.

A Milford District Court judge ordered Medina to complete a mental evaluation at the Worcester House of Corrections when he appeared in court on Oct. 16.

Medina pleaded not guilty to all charges on Oct. 16, and is scheduled to appear back in Milford District Court on Nov. 13, reports the Boston Globe.

They made a big mistake by not requiring mental health intervention with this plea agreement. This guy is a serial killer in the making.

Ohio: Police say Stephen Collins II, 19, tortured a puppy by burning it with cigarettes, beat it with a flashlight and threw it down a flight of stairs breaking several bones

OHIO -- A man faces charges of felony animal cruelty after he threw a 3-month-old puppy down a flight of stairs, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.

Stephen Adam Collins II, 19, caused the puppy to break several bones, including her leg and pelvis, investigators said.

She is expected to live, but it’s too early to tell whether her leg will have to be amputated, Butler County Dog Warden Supervisor Kurt Murbs said.

Joseph's Legacy said Collins, threw her down the stairs, beat her with a flashlight and burned her with cigarettes.

 

 

Three-month-old Vally had to have emergency surgery to repair what investigators called "near-fatal injuries."

Middletown police arrested Collins Thursday evening.

“Harming a defenseless animal is heinous, ridiculous and disturbing,” Jones said in a statement.

 

 

The puppy had been so severely abused that Collins’ mother kicked her son out of the house and called rescuers at Joseph's Legacy to help save the puppy.

The puppy had to have emergency surgery at Monroe Family Pet Hospital. She now has several pins and staples in her leg and pelvis, and she is in a foster home until she makes a full recovery.

Ohio: Puppy thrown down stairs, burned with cigarettes begins to recover

OHIO -- When Judith Reinhart met Vally, a five-month-old mutt with a black button nose and permanently perky ears, the puppy had a broken pelvis, a broken leg and a coat polka-dotted with cigarette burns.

She had been abused so severely by her 19-year-old owner that the man's mother called rescuers at Joseph's Legacy to take her out of the home.

"When I got there, I found out that she had been thrown down a flight of stairs by her own," Reinhart said. "She was beat on the head with a flashlight."

All for having an accident in the house.

Reinhart rushed Vally to Monroe Family Pet Hospital, where she received surgery to repair her broken bones.

The little dog still had a long physical recovery ahead Wednesday night, Reinhart said, but was already beginning to come out of her shell. In a safe environment, Vally is as sweet, curious and energetic as any other puppy.

Vally got pins in her legs and now lives with a foster mother.

“Here she is, in so much pain. And she's still just so beautiful. And she's just so happy to see, to love a human,” Judy Reinhart, adoption coordinator, said.

Ohio: Police say Miami University student Hancheng "Tony" Dai tortured and burned his roommate's cat

OXFORD, OHIO -- He was supposed to be caring for his roommate's cat, but when the roommate came home, he found his pet badly burned.

20-year-old Hancheng "Tony" Dai is charged with abusing his roommate's cat. The cat, named clover, has severe burns and a broken leg.

Based on his Facebook page, I believe he may be a Chinese national here on a student visa. China does not have any animal cruelty laws. You're allowed to do whatever you want to animals without repercussion. Not only is that an abhorrent thought, but it also causes problems when they come to America and bring this mindset with them; that they can do whatever they want to poor animals without impunity. 

Consider this: Among the top 10 most industrialized nations, China is the only one that does not have a law against animal cruelty. England brought in the first modern anti-cruelty legislation in 1822. China is nearly 200 years behind the British in their thinking regarding animal welfare.

Lt. Lara Fening with Oxford Police Department said, “There was a lot of damage to that cat. Although, they say it's in much better spirits than when it came into the vet when it seemed very sick, but it seemed in really good spirits today although it looked horrible."

The owner left their home in Oxford for six weeks and asked Dai to take care of Clover for him.

Investigators say when the Miami University student got back to his apartment, he found his cat, Clover, with multiple injuries – the back, sides and top of the cat’s head were severely burned, leaving raw, bloody skin and loose patches of hair. Clover also had a broken leg.

Dai claimed he washed Clover in hot water and used a hair dryer on the cat, but claimed he did not think the heat or water were enough to have caused the injuries.

Police say the veterinarian believes the cat’s burns are thermal or chemical.

A thermal burn is a type of burn resulting from making contact with heated objects, such as boiling water, steam, hot cooking oil, fire, and hot objects. Scalds are the most common type of thermal burn.

Chemical burns come from someone pouring a caustic substance onto the animal such as bleach, drain cleaner.

Dai claimed to an investigating officer that Clover "jumped off the refrigerator and that's how she broke her leg".

Although the cat is in good spirits, police say it was hard to see. Lt. Fening saw the cat Tuesday afternoon.

“It was wanting me to pet it, rubbing its face against my fingers, but I was afraid to pet it because there were not many places I could pet it,” Fening said.

Clover is at the Oxford Veterinary Hospital and police tell us the cat will have surgery for its injuries tomorrow.

Police charged Dai with "injuring animals". That's a misdemeanor. The prosecutor could charge him with a crime that carries a stiffer penalty.

They better upgrade it to a felony. Misdemeanor animal cruelty is more for neglect (hoarding, untreated mange). This was torture and shows intent to harm, maim and kill.

United Kingdom: Police say Kyle Keegan, 23, posted video to Snapchat showing him beating a puppy with a hammer and then cooking it to death in a microwave

UNITED KINGDOM -- A fight has broken out in a courtroom during the appearance of a man charged in connection with an alleged hammer attack on an 11-week-old puppy.

The 23-year-old man's mother clashed with animal rights activists inside the court after angry remarks were shouted at her son.

 

Kyle Keegan, of Gilpins Manor, Lurgan, Co Armagh, appeared before Craigavon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with animal cruelty.

Standing in the dock, Keegan simply nodded to confirm his name and the charge against him.

They're accusing Keegan of beating the 11-week-old puppy to death with a hammer and then cooking it inside a microwave. Someone videotaped the torture death and then uploaded it onto Snapchat, which has become the app of choice for animal torturers and abusers to brag about their heinous crimes.

It is believed footage of the alleged attack was shared on social media platforms including Snapchat on Saturday.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has appealed for any information.

Detectives have called for anyone who has seen the footage or has photographs of the incident to come forward.     

As he was remanded in custody, a number of animal rights activists shouted angrily at him.

His mother approached one of the activists, and insisted: "He was brought up decent. He was brought up well," before leaving the courtroom.

Keegan was arrested on Tuesday after police were made aware that a puppy had been killed in an alleged hammer attack on Saturday at an apartment in Ailsbury Park, Lurgan.

No bail application was made, and Keegan was remanded in custody for four weeks.

The case was adjourned to March 2 when Keegan will appear before the court via videolink.

Pennsylvania: Kyler Kroecker, 20, tortured and beat his roommate's cat with a heavy plastic baseball bat, say police

PENNSYLVANIA -- A man has been charged with cruelty to animals after allegedly torturing a cat.

Huntingdon Borough Police Department officers arrested Kyler L. Kroecker on Tuesday, more than a month after the incident.

Kroecker, 20, had been living at a residence off 19th Street in the borough and was told repeatedly to leave the family’s cat alone.

What started as a nuisance — Kroecker would do things like urinate with the cat — allegedly turned into physically harming the pet.

Kroecker was told three times on Dec. 18 to not bother the cat, according to an affidavit. The third time he was told to leave the cat alone he had been alone with it in a bedroom.

He left the room, the family checked on the cat and discovered it laying in a pool of blood, police said.

The family confronted Kroeker who denied doing anything to the cat, but said the cat “pissed me off” after it sprayed him, according to an affidavit.

The cat was taken to Faithful Friends Veterinary Clinic and then to Metzger Animal Hospital for treatment, though its status is unknown.

Police responded to the scene after being notified of an animal cruelty incident by a veterinarian at Faithful Friends Veterinary Clinic.

The veterinarian told police the cat’s injuries were so severe that he initially thought it must have been hit by a vehicle. The cat had two puncture wounds to the back of its throat and an eyeball protruding from its socket.

The family showed officers a heavy plastic bat in the room where the cat had been found. The head of the bat had cat fur lodged in it. 

The family also told police that each time Kroecker had been told to leave the cat alone that day he had the plastic bat with him.

Kroecker told police he did not know anything about the incident and declined to answer any questions.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. March 14.
