Man Accidentally Shoots Own Dog During Pit bull Attack

WASHINGTON - Spokane Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 35000 block of Newport Highway to the Riverside Village Estates Sunday morning for a call about suspicious activity. However when they arrived they found an angry man and a dog that had been shot.

Police say the dog got away from her while she was walking it. Her dog then ran into a neighbor's yard and began attacking another dog, a chow chow.

The owner of the chow chow grabbed his pistol with the intention of shooting the pit bull to stop the attack. During that time, the man was bumped and accidentally shot his own dog.

Police say no arrests have been made and they have turned the case over to SCRAPS.
