Dead Dog Found Hanging From Tree

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- An ugly case of animal abuse was discovered in the Bridesburg section of Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday night.

"Whoever did this is a sick individual," George Bengal with the PSPCA said. "This was definitely deliberately done."

A man walking his dog found a dog hanging from a tree on the 5600 block of Tacony Street, according to the Pennsylvania SPCA. The dog was dead and apparently someone had shoved a stick down its throat, officials said.

"It appears that the dog’s been out there for at least two days -- it’s starting to decompose," said Bengal.
The breed of the dog wasn’t immediately known.

Animal officers are working to figure out who could have killed the pup.

Anyone with info on the case should contact the PSPCA at 215-426-6300.
