Dog sought after man is bitten while breaking up canine fight

CHICO, CA -- Animal Control authorities are seeking a dog that bit a man about 11:30 a.m. Saturday near the corner of Citrus and West Second streets.

The man, 23, was walking his Jack Russell terrier when a larger dog approached and began fighting with the terrier.

He received minor injuries while breaking up the fight.

The larger dog is described as a long-haired breed, possibly a chow or chow mix, dark brown or black, that was wearing a black collar and tags. It's believed the dog lives in the area.

If the dog can't be located to verify its health and vaccination history, the victim will be advised to start vaccinations for rabies exposure.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the dog or its owner is asked to call Chico Animal Control at 897-4960, or 897-4900.
