MAINE -- The owners of a central Maine horse farm have been convicted of six misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.
Thirty-four-year-old Brett Ingraham and 26-year-old Alexis Ingraham pleaded no contest Friday in Cumberland County Superior Court.
State animal welfare agents seized 15 horses and other animals from the farm a year ago.
The Morning Sentinel reports under a plea agreement, Brett Ingraham faces up to a year in jail with all but 15 days suspended and a year of administrative release, plus $3,000. He would not be allowed to own horses during that year. The couple would pay $10,000 for the care and custody of the horses since they were seized.
Alexis Ingraham faces up to a year in jail with all but 30 days suspended and a year of administrative release.
