Pit bull that attacked Harrisburg woman, 80, will be put down

PENNSYLVANIA -- An 80-year-old woman had to be hospitalized for a broken hip, broken leg and bite on her arm after being attacked by a pit bull Friday morning in Harrisburg, police said.

Police said the woman was walking with her 90-year-old husband on the 3300 block of North Fourth Street when the dog attacked and knocked her down.

The dog's owner, Aaron Taylor, 30, has cooperated with the animal officer during the investigation, police said, and will be charged with harboring a dangerous dog, failure to restrain a dog and failure to have the dog vaccinated for rabies.

Taylor lives on the block where the attack happened. He agreed to have the animal put down by the Dauphin County Humane League, police said.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact animal control officer Fred Lamke at 717-255-3131.
