Police looking for couple with dog that bit boy

HEATH, OH — Heath police officers are looking for a man and a woman responsible for a dog that bit a 7-year-old boy Wednesday evening.

A black-brown dog, possibly a pit bull mix, bit the young boy on the lip on the 600 block of South 30th Street at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Heath police news release.

The boy reportedly approached the dog [and asked] to pet it, but the owner told him the dog was “not good with kids,” according to a Heath police report.

Before the boy’s mother could tell him to get away from the dog, the animal barked, growled and bit the boy, according to the report.

According to Hunter, the dog lunged just as he was
walking away from the dog.

The dog’s female owner reportedly said she was in the medical profession and the boy would not need stitches. The dog’s male owner reportedly said the dog had all its shots, according to the report. Then the man and woman walked away with the dog. Police were unable to locate them in the area.

The boy was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital and was treated and released, according to the report.

The man was described as a young, white male wearing dark shorts and a white shirt. The woman was described as a young, thin, white female wearing blue pants, a black shirt and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information should call Heath police at (740) 522-2141.
